Welcome and make sure you join the Surf Club - great food and Nippers sign on is in September. A lovely Thai take away in Mooloolaba is Thai Seasons just slightly down the hill from the surf cub opposite the lights - absolutely great.

Delighted you are enjoying it. I took my daughter to the beach this morning and it was stunning, also lots of people we knew there too. This afternoon was perfect gardening weather and am now relaxing with a nice red wine. The Sunshine Coast is a wonderful place to be if you are in work. ​Just love it

Sippy Downs to Nambour is a very easy drive, 15 - 20 mins and its never really that busy. Sippy Downs is very convenient for most things here and Chancellor School is excellent.

Somewhere that we stayed in and was ok was the Newport Building in Mooloolaba in the off season (now) http://www.newportmooloolaba.com.au This is a good option if you need somewhere temporary to begin with.

Ironically, compared to the UK, its immigration that will get the economy going here because people will need houses, cars etc. But then they are only going to allow in legally tyhose who will make a contribution. But big cuts will happen after the election BUT the lights will come back because their will be a wave of confidence. Gillard has a zero confidence rating.

Yes I am - the first 2 years were damn hard and we certainly wobbled. I miss my Dad and friends back in the UK and that is the hardest bit. But my children have a great future ahead of them here and I am enjoying my qulaity time with them here. The UK, as much as I love the place, the economic doom and "doing it tough" was something I do not miss. Australia is very much what you make of it - but the key is to get the right place to set up home.

Unfortunately that is not the case in Queensland where sparkys are having trouble getting work. WA would be worth investigating but I suspect there are other trades that would be more in demand.

The NHS is a fantastic institution but is so expensive and has been managed by successive governments appallingly. The Aussie system is very confusing and under funded. I really don't think the Brits fully appreciate just how good the NHS is.

Buderim is a lovely place and 5 - 10 mins drive to the beach. Probably a bit more expensive that other parts of the Coast but it has a great community and if you look for it just about every activity you can imagine is available. You need to make the effort and its a very welcoming place. I think it'll tick all the boxes for you.
