  1. Hi, I'm writing this on behalf a friend. A friend residing in Australia has a disabled (cerebral palsy) sister living overseas who is presently being cared for by the parents. When both parents pass away, is it possible for my friend to permanently bring over her sister and be her guardian/carer? She (the disabled sister) will have enough money in her account so she wont be financially depended on my friend. Thank you.
  2. We've been there last week to see some open houses and were so impressed with the whole area. 8000m2 with new large house for around 600K....we are so tempted that next week we gonna booked an open day at Emmause College to check it out for our daughter
  3. We love Manly too, in fact we been there last night for the movie in the park event and stayed there till 10pm or something, there was a beautiful breeze too!
  4. Thank you! Actually we have finally had it to Brisbane, been here over a month now and loving it. Fingers crossed for you too and hopefully you will be together soon
  5. Yes, of course, sorry forgot to mention that, 45mins/1hr to the south and same to the north, no big deal of course Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  6. You're welcome Always believe in yourself and don't give up, stay positive as eventually something will come up. Network as much as you can, research and be informed and don't be shy to ask for help. I find Brisbane a great place as its more affordable, less crowded than the big cities, has endless beaches, hinterlands, weather that I like and family friendly Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  7. Brisbane is very family friendly and affordable. I find it quite safe but of course you'll always find some trouble where ever you go in the world. I'm in IT and had found a job in 3 weeks, of course it depends on your skill but there are some IT jobs. Check seek.com.au Google and do research so you get an idea of the cities as they are different, depends what you like. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  8. Where is the largest concentration of car dealers around Brisbane? I am mainly looking at https://www.carsales.com.au but of course would want to go a bit around at car dealers...
  9. Hmm, interesting as we'll need to buy a few thing when we land in a month. For prices, I usually double check on https://www.appliancesonline.com.au How come you opted for JB HiFi...they gave you the best price? Heard the Good Guys have a good service/deals in general.
  10. I doubt it's that as I'm quite scary, but ye, it does happen at times I guess Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  11. I know right! At times it feels like a dream I have already done this before so I know how it feels/what it entails. You just need to be prepared and organized and of course know your stuff once you arrive.
  12. Yeah, that sounds a bit odd to me too! I remember back in 2011 it was quite easy, we just went to a medicare centre, took a ticket and were all set up in 45 mins or so, no hassles whatsoever....
  13. Great post, nice to hear you guys are settling in nicely
  14. Also, to add with Ozzie, for car hire, check https://www.rentalcars.com/au/ They will show you quotes from different companies and also offer cheaper insurance like Ozzie mentioned. We rented an SUV for 2 weeks as need to be quite mobile until we buy a car. Cheers B1K3R
  15. Hi, We ended up booking with AirBnb, spent days checking and could not get better deals. The good ones go away fast, so we booked the place last week even though we will arrive at the end of October. As for renting long term, many adverts on realestate.com.au said that they dont accept Form1....so we'll see. Defo, the frst 2 weeks will be crazy
  16. Wellington Point...one of my favorite places too! So what do you exactly mean by "Alex Hills is on the rougher side"? We used to live in Cleveland and only passed through Alex Hill on the way to the city. We'll be moving back to the Redlands this coming October and since our daughter will be going to a college in Carina, we are thinking of living closer to that area. Alex Hill, not exactly one of my favorites as we would prefer Wellington Point/Ormiston/Cleveland etc, but we are also struggling to find a house with a pool (in all areas really) and Alex Hill is also on the list. Cheers B1K3R
  17. Thanks 1. from which country you are? Erm, that's a bit personal. 2. Did you presented a letter from you country for working remotely from aus as a proof of substantial ties? Nope, as eventually I got a job offer from an Australia company 3. What other proof of substantial ties you gave? Gave reference letters (plus copy of passport) from relatives and friends (the more, the better!) 4. What compelling and compassionate reason you have for being away from aus? That's a bit personal too. Good luck to you too!
  18. Hi All, Just wanted to make a quick update that we have been granted an RRV for 1 year. So excited and happy and I'm really looking forward to return to Australia in October At times what seems impossible is all possible if you believe hard and stay positive Thanks all! Cheers
  19. Thanks for your feedback! Good points too. We will inquire with a few schools and see what they say. In reality, we will not be new to the place as we lived there before for 8 months and will reconnect with people we had met there. Will contact the primary school our daughter had attended back then and we'll see what they'll say. Cheers & thanks!
  20. Hi We have successfully enrolled our daughter to start Year 7 at a College starting the first term in Jan 2018. However, we will be arriving in mid October this year and I am wondering what people do in these cases?! Do you home school your kids for 2 months or so (since end of term 4 is in Dec)? Or maybe enroll her (if possible) for the last part of the term in a primary school?! We would not like to do the latter for 2 reasons....1st the costs of uniforms/books for just 2 months, and 2nd we dont want our daughter to feel a bit unsettled as we are already taking her out of the current school soon and that means should would have changed 3 schools in a few months. Thanks! Cheers

    PR and housing

I think she meant that she buys the house then move abroad and not live in OZ Natasha, it depends on a few things, how long you would be away and if you'd have any ties in OZ. For example, the fact that you have a house is one tie. But of course you'd need more. Have a read here RRV Visa 155 and feel free to ask any more questions if needs be.
  22. Hi, I am in a very similar situation and have just applied now for an RRV, fingers crossed!!! I'm sure you're MA will tell you, but if not, you can also include letters of support from any friends and families you have there stating your relationship with you, why they believe that you will return to Australia permanently, and how they think that you have integrated into the Australian community (which it seems does not apply to you since you did not stay for long) and the significance of your return to Australia in their lives. They also need to give you a scanned copy of their Australian passport or permanent residence status. Try to also include other stuff that ties you to Australia like any emails/applications to schools for your children etc Good luck!
  23. It seems that you passed through a hard time and are in a very difficult situation, and now torn apart in 2. That can be very frustrating for you, sad, maybe anger and resentment and only God knows what other feelings... I'm 100% sure that it is very difficult for you to choose. But one thing that I have learnt in my life is that things can change, other opportunities can come along and your life can take a turn to a positive side. First of all, always try to follow your inner feelings. You have to also be open for other opportunities, like, for example, is there something you can do to get back with your wife and kid? Or if not really possible, what if you meet another girl there in OZ and you can still be near your kid but in a happy relationship? We can always heal, yes slowly, but it's possible if we have the will and get the help from the right people. Don't give up! Always believe that things can change and that opportunities might come up. Try and be positive and speak to yourself about that you desire, things can happen in live even if we think it's not possible. Good luck, I hope you will find your happiness, its never late.
  24. Just in case you missed it, there is a very informative post on here! https://www.pomsinoz.com/topic/193692-australian-visas-migration-agent-fees/
