  3. Myself and the girlfriend left our long term jobs in ireland (10 years each) ,sold everything we owned(except our house) , got married, flew to Oz with no jobs lined up, got jobs , got a new rented house, new furniture, car within 8 weeks..... We're both delighted we made the move, and even more so because we took a huge risk ..... But if you can't get employment in Oz then u really don't want to work!

  11. AFAIK if you want to change visa class you must re-submit a new application. New application, new visa charge..... back to the start of the Queue!

  15. confused.com.............. a few questions?! 1. Have you been offered a job in Oz? 2. Have you paid a company money to search for a job for you in Oz? 3. Have they promised/guaranteed you that they will find you work and sponsorship? 4. Is the fee including the cost of the visa?
  16. Thanks for the reply folks, I would have no problems moving in with my brother, thats still an option! I would hate to outstay our welcome tho! We are getting married at home 10 days before we move over, and i thought that we would enjoy our own space a little more! I dont mind spending the money on temp accommodation, if my brother wasn't living in Sydney we have no choice anyway!
  17. Hi Folks, With the big move looming, its time to start looking at temporary accommodation. Heading for Sydney on the 9th April and although my bro lives there and has offered us a room, I think its a good idea to rent somewhere short term and have our own space! Just wondering, from peoples experience, how long to book the temp rental for? I was thinking 3 weeks but could be way off! Advice is greatly appreciated as always! :wubclub:
  18. I would think that as you have already validated the visa you can travel in Oz on your own or together. The Australian immigration dept will only know that you are separated/divorced if you tell them. You have the visa and I'm 99% sure that that visa cannot be cancelled on the grounds that you are no longer together!
  19. Hi all, It's getting close now, just the small matter of a wedding and then we're off......:err: Been looking for short term accommodation ( roughly 1 month) in Sydney to let us get our bearings. Found this site and wondered has anyone ever used them? Any recommendations? Cheers Johnny.
  20. 28 months for our 175.........
  21. If you are eligible for a Working Holiday visa and are not planning on going straight away then move in together in the UK. Set up joint bank accounts now and gather as much evidence as you can before you go. He can then apply for the PR and you can travel on your WHV. Once in Oz, rent a place together, set up joint bank accounts etc and after 10-11 months (when you have enough proof of 12+month in UK and Oz) he can apply to sponsor you as defacto on that basis. Best bet would be to talk to an agent but i would be looking down this route! Or apply on your own..............
  22. Save yourself the hassle and just post it to them. It will take 2 weeks maybe from Europe via airmail. Are you in that much of a hurry?
  23. I proposed on our validation trip to Oz last xmas.................. Could have done it 12months earlier to save us lots of hassle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. AFAIK you cannot ad someone on as de-facto after the application has been lodged. I might be corrected on this tho! If you can gather up as much evidence as possible to show you have been together more than 12 months, even if you think its of no consequence. Some samples of what we supplied - Photos of events/holidays that we are both in. Ad a little paragraph or heading to explain the situation. - Phone bills dating back 12months + with each others numbers highlighted on them. - An affidavit from friends and family with a brief explanation of our relationship stating time lines etc. - Car insurance with each others named on the policies. - Tickets receipts for flights that were book together. - Christmas cards addressed to both of us (with date stamp on the envelope) - Joint bank account details dating 12 months or more.
  25. Its going to be tough to prove that you have been together in a meaning relationship without having lived together. There are numerous ways to provide proof of relationship, but most are formed around split bills, joint bank accounts, rent agreements, joint mortgages etc. They have a valid reasoning behind these requirements, and thats to stop people taking advantage of the visa system! We applied with my partner as de-facto. It was the toughest part of the application and if i were you, I'd bite the bullet and put in 2 individual visa applications. I know its more money to shell out, but i can assure you, the Defacto proof is a complete pain in the h*le!. Either that or go and get married...................
