  2. Hi Were a family of 5 looking for a short term rental, July in the South of Brisbane or gold coast, were hoping to settle Pacific pines area, so ideally would like it to be near to there. Does anyone know of any short term letting companies, private owners, serviced apartments/accommodation or any good short term rental web sites. Also I'm looking for suggestions on what is a reasonable amount of time to rent temporary accommodation for our arrival in Aus? Thanks
  3. We're a family of 4 moving to Melbourn in August. We're looking for a place to stay till we find our way. The period would be 5/8 to 1/9. Any tips would be much appreciated.
  4. Hi me and my partner are moving to Perth on 11th April. We are looking to house share as soon as possible really. We are from the uk between 25 - 30 year old. We are both easy to get along with and own property back in the uk so keeping a house clean and paying bills on time will not be a problem. i have heard that Fremantle is a lovely area so we would preferably like to be around that area however would live anywhere near Osborne park (partners work). Hope to hear soon!
  5. We have decided to bite the bullet and are moving to Brisbane in May. I have been searching for a short term rental for when we arrive and they are mega expensive. I have bugetted £2000 for it but even the caravan park comes in at £4800! I really don't want anything fancy, just a base near enough to the CBD to search for jobs and find a rental. The kids are aged 13, 11, 5 and 3, so i need somewhere with enough room, but i would consider a place that sleeps less than 6 and make do, to save money. Any ideas anyone?!? Also, I wondered if it is really necessary to book the short term rental for 4 weeks, do you think we could secure a place to live in 3 weeks? Thanks for any advice. Imogen
  6. Hi All We're moving to Melbourne from the UK in September and are looking for short term rental for a month from around the 16th September (this is flexible as are staying with friends to begin with). We've got two cats coming out of quarantine end of September so need to find somewhere pet-friendly. And within commutable distance of CBD. Any pointers/advice/help etc gratefully received, I'm finding it hard to find anything and have been trawling the internet for weeks, seems to only be serviced apartments coming up. Anyone know of a house, we're only two so small is fine too. Thank you. Julia
  7. Hi Everyone, My girlfriend Lou and I are both relocating to Melbourne, both 29, sociable and fun loving people, I'd be in to sport, cycling and travelling... Lou in to shopping and socialising!! I am going first at the end of April and Lou is going to follow me out in 3 months ... We are going to get an apartment together but in the mean time I would be looking to rent somewhere short term for the first 3 months so I can involve Lou in the hunt. I don’t mind sharing a place etc but other than gumtree I don’t really know the best way to find a pad for 3 months??? – Any suggestion? Also I am a homeowner in the UK so I don’t really have any rental references... Is there anything else I should bring that will help me when I initially look for a ST place and also when I finally take on an apartment when Lou arrives? Is it also advisable to both have reference when we look to rent a LT apartment? I will be working in St Kilda and would like to live in an area where I am not too close to the office say 20min cycle and there are restaurants and bar and bit a buzz around the place – any suggestions would be a MASSIVE help!
  8. Hi all, It's getting close now, just the small matter of a wedding and then we're off......:err: Been looking for short term accommodation ( roughly 1 month) in Sydney to let us get our bearings. Found this site and wondered has anyone ever used them? Any recommendations? Cheers Johnny.
  9. Hi All Just a quick one for people who are moving over and wanting short term furnished accommodation for when they arrive and airport pick ups. We are finding a lot of people leaving it until the last few weeks before booking their short term furnished accommodation, unfortunately, because of this some people are struggling to have accommodation for when they arrive. So I just wanted to give people a heads up that if you are coming to Australia in the next 6 months try and organise your short term accommodation as soon as possible as with the summer holidays, christmas and the rental crisis at the moment it is getting harder for people to find something. For Melbourne we are recommending allowing at least 4 weeks to get your long term rental as with the OFI (open for inspections) system it can delay things dramatically.:wubclub: I am sure Cal or Sarah can advise you how long it takes to secure a rental in Brisbane at the moment. Remember realestate agents will not entertain you for a 12 month rental until you are in Australia and have viewed the property.
