  1. Bit bored are we, your post smacks of just getting a reaction. this is mine, grow up
  2. Groan! another one :-( immigration gets on your nerves does it, so, become an immigrant in another country is your choice then? the irony of these people never fails to amaze. And I assume you are looking for a whites only place to live?. good luck.
  3. I;d rather be in a terraced house with my family than living a supposed dream without them
  4. Blinkers more like. You are prime tabloid newspaper fodder. but everyone to their own opinions and you are fully entitled to yours. Some of those quotes can be lifted and used by the EDF too.
  5. It isyou, selected viewing, ever noticed how many asians are in oz nz the world stops without migration, in every country there are economic migrants looking for a free handout, the english papers thrive on putting out this news. I met many migrants in countries who work their butts off work all hours keep their corner shops open til late and layabouts lounge on their beds claiming they're jobs are being taken by foreigners. How a migrant can slag off others i am not sure. there is an issue as to why some refugees travel across 2-3 countries to get to the uk but dont think its just europe,
  6. I am not being personal, just we all are have been or intend to be immigrants to a country, so I never agree with anyone who blames their own country woes on immigrants, I have met many numbnuts in different countries who say they moved because of immigrants, When I state they became an immigrant, their is the dimmest of light that comes on in their mind, the favourite reply is if you cant beat then join them. lol
  7. And that makes a difference to your statement ?............... Are you an immigrant in Nz?, someone who sees opportunities in another country other than their own? What queue were you in at the airport? non national?. The irony of it all,
  8. I do have to laugh at the irony of these sort of posts, How is Australia now you have left your home country ? ;-)
  9. Might be a hard road but you are not walking it alone.
  10. unfortunately not. the 15mm and 22mm pipe has different o/d sizes, so the pipe slices from the uk do not fit either.
  11. Keep sharing your progress and especially if you having a down day, we may be strangers but we all have a lot in common, so heads up, keep positive and I,m sure those on here will give you the added support that will keep you positive.
  12. Sorry Have to Disagree, I have been back several months and the choice of where to live is very difficult, so far 7 job offers not all in my trade, lovely weather since mid March and a Christmas in winter and close proximity of Europe, cheaper prices and lots more mean that neither the UK or Oz are better than one another they are just different and each one can offer anyone the chance to be happy, its a personal choice, though you did get the required response to your post ;-) Me?, I am through choice looking to move back to Perth but will have sadness at having to leave either country. Summer here and the summer nights of daylight til 10pm have been fab.
  13. Its probably o here somewhere but i cannot find it. Would I still have to own a classic car for a year before i can ship to Perth?
  14. exchange rate not too bad to be honest fluctuating around 179-181. Compared to what it has been like past couple of years, not sure but if interest rate in uk goes up as they say it may put a couple of cents on dollar which in house sale terms could mean a decent used car. thats about the limit of my knowledge on money transfers lol
  15. Having a big difference of opinion could cause issues, one wants to definately give it go other doesnt want to go means there is no easy options to either. If you are so dead set against going then really it would be a struggle the closer the day to departing gets let alone arriving. Just my opinion but really it does need to be a decision agreed by both parties. It shouldnt be that your marriage is riding on this at all. not sure on your history but assume you have been to Oz, have you friends family etc?. not an easy one to sort out and I assume hubby knows or can see how you feel about the matter.
  16. Trust me when I say its quite normal for us all to worry about the what ifs it goes wrong things, rather than what if I like it scenario. I have had 2 spells in Oz and can say I worried about giving a stable life here in the UK be mortgage free at 50 etc, then enjoyed timebut had to return and I worried about returning. I am due back to Perth for good after selling my house and still worry about all the wrong things that could go wrong when in fact I spent near 3 years there and did well. This time i want no ties to the UK such as property, and family and friends all moved on when I returned so going back feels fine though my youngest son is staying here to join the services. I;m 53 and could fall flat on my face but life is short, and all I can say is if you put 40% effort into something you will get 40% back, so at your young age see it as an adventure, look into all that Australia has and enjoy the ride, grab the positives, it doesnt have to be forever and slotting back into your old life back in the UK is really more easier than we think. You never know..you may love it there, although I do have to say, lovely or not bit naughty saying 'he will resent you if you backout'. embrace it glean all the info you can. I remember playing darts one night everyone there laughing joking etc and I thinking do i want to give all this up?. no-one plays darts anymore and no-one goes out much at all nowadays, but UK never as bad as some make out..
  17. And dont forget, on those chilly nights just wrap a huntsmans furry leg around your neck to keep warm. :biglaugh: Seriously though good decision and one you wont regret whether it works out for you or not. Let the adventure begin.
  18. I have felt their pain, Good ole Gumtree bailed me out after a few trips out. far too much hassle lol
  19. Its a lot tougher now than even a few years ago, Perth is very expensive ridiculously expensive according to my pal this week despite what some may say, I have friends who upped sticks moved to surfers paradise Townsville etc and all say much better than WA and say the red tape a lot less hassle than WA too. I chose Perth as my son and grandaughters live there. Do you have to go to Perth? and more importantly you need to be both 100% committed to the move. If you go half hearted it will be very difficult to adapt and you will only get out of the move what you put in. Discuss the matter, then discuss it some more
  20. I hope so, I want to be back by xmas
  21. I was speaking with a friend in Perth who has just completed the water contractors licence course, He says the jobs are getting more scarce there and he finding it difficult to find any work. He also said there were many plumbers completing the course all of whom say they want to start their own business, seems that the scenario in the UK could be repeated where near every white van was a plumber and or gas safe registered and a surplus of plumbers etc. Anyone feel the same there about the work market or has my friend just had bad luck.He is 60yrs old.
  22. You dont have to accept things as they are, it may not be permanent, look to positives, make changes where you can, being mournful does not help you and certainly wont help close ones, in fact it would make things worse. Aus, and the Uk are not bad countries to live in at all, opportunities in both. make the best of them they wont change for you so you have to adapt.
  23. I,m home in Portsmouth at the moment, stunning displays ( red arrows today ) ceremonies up until Sunday movies on the common like a drive in 40s music bands, veterans with their stories, those men and women have earned our gratitude and respect. If anyone gets the chance visit the D-Day museum then do so. very humbling, Great weather too makes you proud to be British.
