  1. Do we really believe with all the supposed savings for the input we put into the EU, should we save all this money of course the government will plough it all into the NHS and build an extra hospital every week. we will still see the money going to the elite. remember the tories have back tracked on near every promise they made to get elected and I even voted for them after the shambles of previous parties. Also we should note we are not voting Gove or Boris into office, we are voting in or out, Cameron for all his posturing will still be PM. To me the vote has come down to immigration verses the PC brigade, no facts just scaremongering and a lot of 'if we leave we COULD this or MIGHT / MAYBE that
  2. hopefully you should add, because the out vote is for the unknown
  3. I can send some but fear once completion is done if the vote is leave I will lose $$$$$$$$$. was 2.18 now less than 2 dollars, on house proceeds that is a huge amount, plus if house prices drop then byers could pull out or worse ask for a price drop. Not good times
  4. I see the exchange rate has been fluctuating a lot depending on how the polls go re the EU vote, just sold my house and now worried I will lose bigtime on exchange rate when the time comes should we leave, looks like its going to be a close one
  5. plenty of other places for the usual battles over where is best, others come on here to read based on the heading of the thread, too many threads turning into silly squabbles. hope moderators close thread if done then, boring.
  6. noted original thread been hijacked by oz v uk peeps again, any chance moving on with original query.
  7. "get a grip" typical response from someone who does not understand those people with mental issues, borders on being ignorant. this forum I am led to believe is for those of us to let off steam, vent anger, give advice to others and report good news stories people just like others to listen, its what talking therapies do, a little compassion Terry dxb as none of us have walked in jasepom's shoes, we are all friends to talk to on here.
  8. I feel your pain mate I really do, Indecision killing me now, stay mortgage free uk with younger son who is off and out most times, or return to perth with older son distraught at my return to uk and the 2 grandaughters there. thought I was sure what i wanted to do. now at 54 I stilldont know. :-(
  9. Thanx everyone good debate. I guess my concern was why I could get such a good exchange rate and this is fine if have a job, other hand i could comlain that exchange rate not very good and less money and still need to find work. Here in uk there been a spurt of gas fitter ads which is strange this time of year, I have a wa gas fitter licence but been away from gas fittkng in Perth for 2 years. best way is to get top dollar exchange and get employment asap. seems excess of rentals and rents deff lower since I was there 2013
  10. Exchange rate today near double money, good for me on bringing house sale money over but a little concerned as to why such a good rate, hope its not all doom and gloom in Perth workwise, be good to have the money and seems plenty rentals about but no good if not earning. tell me good news re work :-)
  11. Nice thread, one i shall keep an eye on, I sold my uk house here and happy with price, wil rent there for starters keeping an eye on prices etc, The exchange rate is very healthy my way at the moment but I have to wonder why and suspect more of adownturn there rather than strength of pound. tuck my money away and await house price movements, as an amateur I can only go on a hunch rather than experience.
  12. I live in Portsmouth work southampton, imo I would give both a miss. traffic is awful and getting worse and cramped, though I live in a better part of Portsmouth near a large pond and the sea I am off back to Perth. North of either would be better but depending on funds, or even cornwall I been told, my pal moving from Portsmouth to hastings seems ok.
  13. Netflights?, or iwantthatflight.com?
  14. Apologies, yes I amin the uk at present, had to delay a year but gained 30k on the house, naturally as the sale progresses the pound gets weaker aginst the dollar, :-( I do hold wa gas licenece and experience in maintenance work etc and bus drive licence, my older son there but younger son here 18 thinks he is better off staying now although he has no quals etc he wants to join the Army. Never an easy decision but then again he is 18 and his rrv is valid til 2018. appreciate the replies
  15. Well house sold in 3 days all surveys etc done and pleased with price, Perth news say glut of housing and rentals available so that looks promising too and my job in uk coming to an end as redundancies and jobcuts on the council are brutal. on the flip side ahs anyone in WA noticed the upturn inunemployment and slowdown in economy, obviosly from here trying to get a gauge on it is too black andwhite and my son so excited on my return he wouls prob just say anything lol. not too worried but always good to be prepared dib dib dib. :-)

    Grrr

House put on market last Friday sold by saturday and pulled out ( changed mind) monday now dollar at 2 to the pound. sorry, rant made feel a little better. :arghh:
  20. We went to see what it was like to Perth for 6 months, returned 2004, back to Perth 2005 Uk 2006, Perth 2011 Uk 2013. Now selling house so I can move back to Perth Permanent having made a decent bit of equity on my house, ( pure luck more than judgement). My fil always said as long as you have that house in the uk you will never settle and cut your ties. Being the eldest I always considered my now elderly parents who have said I should concentrate on my own family which is a son dil and 2 grandaughters in Perth.
  21. Well my year is up plus a little extra, came back as youngest son wanted to return to the uk as soon as leaving school in Perth, asked me o give it a year here in the UK. He now says he applying end of this year now for the army which is now for him to do as I want to return to Perth and my eldest and grandchildren. A little nervy as I am 53 but I did ok there the years I ws there and kept in with many inc old employers. My house goes on market next week and I hope tobring back 375-400k dollars and will look to have a house build if I can, I was offered a 30 year mortgage when i was there so hopefully my age wont affect my chances. Whats the full story on house builds? cost etc and although i still hold my gas ticket and plumb trades lic I would prefer to get away from that. Is the downturn taking affect there, my son is a little biased with his opinions as he wants me there asap too. getting work here in my trade was quite easy in the uk. hope its the same there. Think I just looking for positives :-)

    RRV

Hi I had to renew my British passport and let the immi know who in turn updated my details and say we now dont need a visa stamped in the new passport, Would I have got a new visa number too as I checked vevoandnodetails of my visa show on old visa grant number granted aug 13, new passport april this year. My sons visa details are shown on vevo on his original passport. 5 year rrv we have.
  24. yep nothing wrong with that, you come across as intelligent but some posts are strange when you say Oz is the best thing for you and for them if they only came back etc, but have you considered the way you feel about Oz is possibly the way your wife and family feel about the uk, you never seem to consider others feelings or views just your own. all round a sad situation
