  1. Tink, they have the money so could apply in the first safe place they arrive in.
  2. You are ridiculous! What right or basis have you to accuse me of child abuse, firstly you know nothing about me and secondly you are obviously someone who condones children being put in danger on a leaky boat and doesn't care what happens to them. The people who come on these boats have no thought for their children as they obviously have enough money to obtain a visa.
  3. I cannot come to terms, no matter how hard I try, with those who condemn the government on it's "boat people" policy. They have the right to seek asylum in the first safe haven they arrive in - which is not Australia. These people evidently have enough money to reach Indonesia, pay for food and shelter there until the people smugglers take thousands to put them on a leaky boat. Why didn't they use these thousands to obtain a visa? My sympathies lie with the people who are living in the refuge camps, very often for years in deplorable circumstances and who are disadvantaged every time these boat people arrive and money has to be spent on them. I totally agree with boat people being sent back from whence they came so that these poor people in the camps, who have already been screened, have a better chance of being resettled.
  4. There are plenty other great suburbs in the Hills District so don't restrict yourselves by only looking at Castle Hill
  5. Have lived in various suburbs of Sydney for the passed 48 years and have never seen a funnel web. They must be suburb specific. lol!
  6. Perhaps it has something to do with the Tax office dealing with 2013/14 returns until end of March 2015. Individuals who use a tax accountant don't have to lodge until then. I would try again online later.
  7. This planet's climate has been in constant change since it was formed and will be so despite anything that we do. We do however need to clean the air that we breathe to protect human and animal health. Much more harmful things than CO2 are spewed into the atmosphere. Those are what we need to get rid of - we do need CO2 to survive. I do believe in the proliferation of solar energy and the like to achieve this.
  8. Don't forget that the M2 forms the boundary between Baulkham Hills and Winston Hills and there are 2 bus stops, on the M2, between Old Windsor and Windsor Roads, therefore easy access to express bus to the city.
  9. If going inland I would definitely get on to the Snowy Mountains Highway. The scenery is great in spring and summer and it would be easy to visit Canberra too.
  10. $350!! I remember when RRVs cost nothing. When they started to charge $90 I took citizenship.
  11. It is advisable to alter your CV to highlight your skill set and experience for the particular job being applied for. I don't know of anyone who has sent exactly the same CV for every job they have applied for.
  12. Don't live in Kings Langley but reasonably close to it. It's a pleasant suburb, good homes, school and has a small shopping centre. Was developed in the early 80s - if my memory serves me correctly. I'll try to answer any questions you have.
  13. I love my country, Scotland and wish I could, even after 48 years, bring it here and deposit it in NSW so that I could live there but be close to my children, grandchildren and friends.
  14. It is said that, if you can live in Edinburgh, with the dreadful winds coming straight off the North Sea you can live anywhere. Having been born and bred there I reckon that's pretty right
  15. It would have to be Scotland. I would live in Edinburgh and have a wee "but 'n ben' near one of the beautiful beaches in western Highlands as a get away from it all.
  16. Don't live in Carlingford but it is a good suburb, and yes many Asians do live there. Carlingford West is a good school. I knew the principal but don't know if he is still there. I imagine the bus service is good and it is close to Epping Station. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  17. 28, OH 29 and two toddlers 3yrs and 1yr 10 months
  18. There's a meet up in the CBD every, Thursday I think. Check the British Expats forum.
  19. Well, I'm of the opposite view to Marisawright. When I came to Australia there was no Medicare and everyone had to have health insurance, I wish it had never been changed. Anyway I have kept my medical benefits and am so glad I did - for lots of reasons. The major one being when any of my family needed hospital care they got it immediately. However you must decide what is best for you, no matter what anyone says. I do believe health funds have extras cover only.
  20. A friend of mine, who has been to the various Holden and Ford factories in Vic and SA said that the workers had a cheek complaining about the shut down because the car parks were not full of Holdens and Fords but Asian makes.
  21. As everyone had to have medical benefits, or have enough money to cover the costs, it was affordable for everyone who was working. We had one wage of $45 a week when we came and from memory it cost about $3 a week for top family cover. Those who weren't working or on benefits got free health cover.
  22. I think what ICAC is doing is exposing what has been done outside set down guidelines/rules.Which is a good thing. the LNP State members have done the correct thing and resigned their positions. However, the previous Labor Government members, who made financial gains for themselves have not had any penalty imposed on them. I still think the LNP members have not been shown as corrupt but guilty of accepting banned funds for their party without gain for themselves. I recon Baird should be given a chance to show what he can do for this State.
  23. I agree with your post except for the last sentence.
  24. Well if you can't see it for yourself I am not going to attempt to educate you and for your information, I make my own decisions and do not simply follow what someone else says.
