176 visa lodged January 2012

Recommended Posts

Thats fab Dono. Very jealous.

We havent done ANYTHING since we got our visa granted.

Just cant think where to start!

Think will book husband to go in late June and I'll join him in late Aug /sept.

We need to organise renting out the apt and what to take????

My mind is racing between- lease it out with the apt, sell it or bring it with us???!!! arrrrghh

Plus did ye get info on registering with some state agency to help look for work- it takes 21 days or something from your visa grant before you can register

Hiya Ack

We have decided to rent out our house and treat it as an investment cos we will not be buying for the first couple of years in OZ anyway. When we want to buy we will sell here and hopefully the housing market will have picked up and the exchange rate a little better. So many decisions to make!

Hi waitingSS- yep all need to go to activate the visa.

But in our case hubbie will go first - find a job and somewhere for myself the the little one to live for while ...for us its just easier that way but yeah you are right!

No we're not taking a holiday. Husband is goign to go in June/july (lol I dont know!) and then I will rent this place out and pack etc, sort up everything here and then join him in Sept. We dont plan to come back for at least 2or3 years even for holidays- tbh I don think the 3 of us could afford to come back for holiday.

Yeah husband has started to look for job from IRel but there is something about having to wait 21days from visa grant date for details to be uploaded to some official govt site. Husband has gotten in touch with recruitment agencies but they havent replied. Like all these things I think it would be easier to sort over there

Whats your status on visa waitingss?

We have been granted out visa last week. I did try to register on that site you talk about but we have to wait 21 days. I have also send my cv out for jobs but I feel the just see the Irish address and say no. we are like yourself we dont plan to come back for a few years unless the housing market picks up and we can sell.

Congrats on the visa- sorry I think Id already congratulated you.

Yeah really think its just easier to be there to get stuff sorted.

So when and where are ye thinking of going? (you really need a signature!!! )

Have you looked into removal companies?

What types of jobs have you been applying for? Husband is town planner.

Alot to do........Im going around in circles just dont know where to start! For me I think book himself over and work towards that date.

It soooooo hard figuring it all out.

Like jesus...car seats for baby alone is turning into a headache, apparently our maxicosi would be illegal over there so will have to sell it and all that craic first :(

We re in Dublin.

Not sure why car seat is illegal- they have different regulations! So be it just have to sort new one when we get there but it just adds to the stress.

Yeah car boot sale is right! Now I just need to find a load of them to sell our stuff.

I got a bit of a quote yday by email.

0boes, cotbed, toys mirror, tv stereo, kitchen stuff no furniture to bring really (not bringing much in fairness) got qoute of €1200. I know I can gettthat stuff over there but to be honest its not worth the hassle....I want to bring my few bits.....like cant be replacing everything!

Oct is nice time to go..heading into the summer

thanks for telling what quote you got for shipping. That might be an option for us too. I could go first and the family follow after. the stress is what to do with the house.

I know....we've apt here and are going to rent it out. The rent we'll get will just about cover the mortgage unless interest rates increase which they will eventually happen...we're on tracker :)

What about leasing your house to the council? Gauranteed income but you have to sign up for 10 years (yikes!!!) We know of another girl who did this when her family moved to Perth months ago. As well as 10yrs, the money doesnt cover their mortgage :(

But maybe its an option for you and you wouldnt have to keep worrying about leases being constantly up every year and getting tenants.

its all a headache

I never knew you could do that.do you know anything about renting to the council. the rent we would get now wont cover our mortgage either and then with all the taxes. will it be worth it

I dont know how she went about it ....maybe ring your local council? She was in Dublin- perhaps that was different? Google it maybe. Its got pros and cons but it would be nice knowing a fraction of the mortgage is guaranteed to be paid- but then with exhange rate it will be harder to finance it from Australia. Renting -yeah,we'll lose interest relief and its seen as rental income so we'll be screwed in few differnet ways - but sure whats the alternative??? For us even if we were in a house and not a neg equity apartment things might be differenet but our 2bed apt is getting SMALL with a baby growing!

Where are you moving to?

Congratulations everyone who has their visa so far!!!

We're currently waiting for WA-SS to come thru-sent it off last week.

Then as soon as get that we're lodging an online 176.

How long roughly has it taken everyone to get their visa issue for 176?

And does anyone know if theyll still process 176's after July 1st? (like if you apply in April/May or even June 30th will you definitely get the visa before 1st July or will we have to wait until 2013?

I heard that they are taking a 6 month break from applications because of skills select?

Our visas took 46 days from the date we lodged them, but that was quite a long time because of some additional information for my OH's medicals which delayed us by about 16 days.

I think they will still process lodged 176s after 01/07. They originally said they'd only send the first round of invites under the new system in January 2013, but this was changed to August 2012 (so from 6 months to 1 month) recently. I think that if you lodge any time up until the middle of April, you have a good chance of getting your visa before the changes - assuming there isn't a sudden last minute influx of apps. I have a feeling they might suspend accepting new applications around the middle of May though.

Hi ack

We are going to rent out unfurnished and take all our stuff with us (apart from sofas which are off to tip!). Maybe take the car too as we've just finished paying it off and would cost a lot more to buy than we'd get for it in the UK. Are you shipping your stuff?

MedMigration should have got the letter from specialist today so it should be on eHealth Monday/Tuesday then we wait for meds to be finalised, just want our visa now!

Thinking of going Oct, when are you thinking of going?

OH is going to start looking for work once the visa comes through, do you think there is a real chance of getting work from the UK? The thought of arriving with no job does stress me out a bit, especially with 2 toddlers.

Well medicals now saying 'referred' instead of 'requested' and emailed CO and she replied saying OH's medical now been processed and she would be in touch shortly. Exciting, please please please can we have a visa!

Heather - how did your medicals go?

Emma x

Hi Emma

All went well apart from mine...typical! I have to go back on Monday to do another urine sample! Mine had blood in it (i started my period on the morning of the medical!!!) The joys of being a woman!

Hopefully next weeks will be ok though...just annoyed i have to go back to Manchester to re do it. I wasn't allowed to my own doctor!
