scarlet mia
Hi just a quick question we are hoping to move to the sunshine coast next year and I was just on a school website and read the High school starts from year 8. Is this right and does this mean they get an extra year in primary school as my eldest son is now in year 6 here in the U.K. and is getting ready for High school. Thanks Karen x
starlight7
I am in Victoria so it may be different but children go to primary school in prep year aged 5-6 and then there are 6 years ( grades1 thru 6) so, yes,7 years. Then high school/secondary college is another 6 years.
ali
We're in WA but when we moved my daughter had started year 7 at High School in the UK but here year 7 was the last year of primary school. She didn't mind and didn't see it as going backwards as it was still year 7. She says she appreciated a year of getting to know how things work before heading off to high school. It is strange though that she still has a year left in high school and all her UK mates are now at college.
fish.01
Before 2007 in Qld it was: Pre-School Primary School: Year 1 to Year 7 High School: Year 8 to Year 12 In 2007 it changed to: Primary School: Prep and then Year 1 to Year 7 High School: Year 8 to Year 12 And in 2015 it is changing again to: Primary School: Prep and then Year 1 to Year 6 High School: Year 7 to Year 12 See: http://deta.qld.gov.au/initiatives/flyingstart/year7.html
