Melvin,

General test? Just go for Academic if earlier dates are available, since all that you need is 6 bands in each module, which isn't rocket science. I'd say you can even travel to some other city/country if you get a place and trust me this is far better than waiting for ACS, which has no regard for time.

armandra!

Hi armandra,

Just to let you know we applied for acs 7th of march 2011 (docs rec by acs) and got the positive result in the post on 6th of may! We were told up to 20 weeks, i think they must be trying to clear them! So thinking positively, hopefully the results will be with you soon! Good luck!

:mask:Applied for developer programmer 261399.

regards

cpm

but there is one problem:

when you fill the visa application, you are required to give the IELTS "Test Report Form Number" , this number is only available on the IELTS paper, if you don't have it you will need to fill some false number...

Hey buddy,

nope, you can also enter the date you are planning to take the test (see attached).

Cheers

Uli

is the same available in the e-visa application?

Hey Buddy,

this is a screenshot from my form 1276. My agent used it to apply for my eVisa. I'm not sure whether she just used it as a template but I don't think so. However, I cannot say for sure because I did not apply myself. this would be a question for a seperate thread I guess.

Cheers

Uli

as you said most likely she used it as a template

when I filled my e-visa online, it didn't allow me to proceed till I filled the IELTS form numbers (I filled the value "1", as I didn't have IELTS then), so I can advance to the next pages to fill them, then I saved the application.

after I had the IELTS, I went back to the form and filled the correct number, then proceeded to the last page (the "Pay us money" page :) )

so, I believe, if you are applying online, you have to fill the IELTS result number before you make the payment (i.e. lodge the application)

if someone feels he/she needs more solid info about this, then as instructed by the captain: a new thread

Oz or Not to Oz,

Thanks!

Record of waiting? Don't think so since I applied on Jan 6th and it's been just over 4 months.

Of course, online is the way to go (once I get the ACS assessment, that is)!!

Here's some more info about my Vic SS app:

CV: 7 pages long

Experience: 2.5 years (with another 6 months of training thrown in)

Domain: Insurance

Organisation: F500 (one of the most respected US-based consulting firms)

Occupation: Analyst Programmer

Technology: C#/Java/SharePoint

Australia/Vic exp: Nil

Qual: Masters in Computer Science

Vendor Cert: MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)

Funds: ~40k (for one)

Friends/Relatives in Vic: 2 friends in Melb

P.S: I really spent a hell lotta time writing my CV. It almost took 25 days and 40+ version changes (appended version no. to the file name) to make it interesting and most importantly, Australised!!

Seems some people get confused with "CV should not exceed 3 pages" statement on the Vic website. That is applicable for those who already have the visa and are applying for jobs. But, since the Industry Panel (IP) have only the CV to look at and then decide if you are in or not, the 3-page rule doesn't apply.

The one and the only most important factor I'd say Vic look for in the CV is: how much do you really know the local Aus/Vic market and are already prepared to land a job once the Visa is granted.

Hope this helps!! :)
