Guest Strider
4 years waiting :arghh::arghh:????????????????????????????? . can't you jump to CAT 3? Yes, I can, because I was assessed as "Developer Programmer" in 2010 (just right for Victoria) Though it will cost $2,5 K, I'll probably do so
shooterspalace
Dear Admin, please turn me brown. Today I got the rejection mail from Victoria. Here is the details below. Dear XXX, Thank you for your application for Victorian Government sponsorship under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme. Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme. Under the Victorian Government’s program, sponsorship is offered to skilled migrants whose skills and experience are in high demand in the Victorian labour market at the time of assessment. High demand may mean those skilled migrants whose skill sets are hard to come by or are rare and unusual. During the assessment process the Victorian Government consults with industry representatives in Victoria to determine the demand for an applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience, and whether they have high prospects for employment in their field. All decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. While your occupation meets the eligibility criteria to be considered for state sponsorship, there is not sufficiently high demand for your skills and experience to offer sponsorship at this time. Note that we would be happy to re-assess your application should you be able to obtain a valid offer of employment in your nominated occupation within Victoria, while your occupation remains eligible to be considered for Victorian Government sponsorship. Refer to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website for alternative visa pathways: www.immi.gov.au. Please quote Reference Number : SS-2010-XXXX in all of your communication to us. Guest Strider
My occupation is Developer programmer. Now if there is a chance that the occupation maybe rolled off the new SOL, then i do have a problem. I hope its otherwise. If i dont apply now and if there are any changes rolled out by DIAC that impact my situation i am doomed again. What a position to be in. this sucks  accept my undestanding, as one Developer Programmer of another. I'd like to add that even if we apply for 175 now: whenever DIAC (hypothetically) exclude our occupation from the sol, we will be no longer in cat 3. And... hooray! neverending waiting. So, let us hope that everyting will be OK with Developer Programmer.

Guest Mongobear
But my occupation isn't in CAT3 rather they have kicked it in CAT 4. That means even if i reassess it will i 'll get a code in CAT4. I couldn't understand how i can reassess into CAT3?Regards, Hi triumph, if I got it right then your current skills assessment states 2231-79 (nec) or 2231-79 (network security) or whatever, right? If so, then you are allowed to get your occupation reassessed by the ACS because there is no proper mapping for your occupation into an ANZSCO code. The current official mapping maps 2231-79 into 261399 (Software and Applications Programmers Nec) and 261314 (Software Tester). This is clearly bullsh*t since you're not a programmer and not a tester. The DIAC also recognized this unclever mapping and therefore allows holders of a 2231-79 code to get a new assessment from the ACS. The new assessment has to be based solely on the original documentation so you are not allowed to add any new documents like certificates, new experience. So this is what you should do now: 1. Pick a cat3 ICT-occupation from the SOL that you think is suitable to your tasks 261111 ICT BUSINESS ANALYST 261112 SYSTEMS ANALYST 261311 ANALYST PROGRAMMER 261312 DEVELOPER PROGRAMMER 261313 SOFTWARE ENGINEER I think Business- or Systems-Analyst should work out very well 2. Apply for a new assessment with the ACS here. During the application-process there's a field where you can enter the file-number of your old assessment. Don't forget to add it. You don't have to send all your documents to the ACS again. They have them stored in their system. But you have to send them back the signed documents (it's clearly explained on the ACS-pages what to send back) 3. Wait for 8-10 weeks to receive the new assessment. 4. Once you have it (and it was successful) send it to the DIAC. They'll bump you up to cat3 and you'll have your visa by the end of the year at the latest. 5. Enjoy a life in the holy land  Just let me know if you need additional details but please contact me by PM then since it's not really related to VIC. Good luck Uli

Good luck Uli For your ref I wad previosly assessed as 2231-79 (Network Security). Got reassessed this year as my skills closely matched with ICT Business Analyst but the assessor from ACS came back saying that my skills closely match with Systems Administrator instead. I would recommend that you are certain about your nominated occupation

Anyway, systems administrator is on SA's SMP (ACT as well I think) so you could try there. Uli

I did request for my results ASAP and was happy to pay for express courier so that I could apply to SA before the 2nd May deadline but ACS never got back to me. I could try ACT but I don't have the funds available to show them as they are invested into properties. Have waited for a year with no success with the two ACS applications. Guess it's probably best to wait for few more months. Things may change for better or get ugly.
Guest harshal
Hi Buddy and yoyo, any update from DIAC? Did anyone get any update who applied around 14-16 April? Regards, Harshal.
Guest Buddy
Hi Buddy and yoyo, any update from DIAC? Did anyone get any update who applied around 14-16 April? Regards, Harshal. my friend according to the automated reply from DIAC: 1- Priority 2 applications are currently being allocated within a week of DIAC receiving confirmation of a valid nomination from the relevant State/ Territory Government. As a result applicants are encouraged, where possible, to provide decision ready Priority 2 applications to facilitate more efficient processing and finalisation of these applications. 2- Applications lodged before the following dates are currently being considered by a case officer: Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) subclass 176 VE 176 (e-lodged): 15 April 2011 VE 176 (paper): 15 April 2011 I lodged my 176 on 08-Apr-2011 (i.e I lodged it before 15 April 2011) after 3 weeks without a CO, I became worried they did not receive from 1100 from VIC. so, on 02-May-2011 I wrote to DIAC: Query: hellomy TRN number is: XYZ can you please confirm that you have received Form 1100 sent from my sponsoring state (Victoria)? information from DIAC says I should get a case officer within one week, and it has been 3 weeks. I only need to know if you've received Form 1100, otherwise I will need to get it submitted again to you. thank you. in 24 hours DIAC replied: Dear Client, Thank you for your email in relation to your visa application under Australia's General Skilled Migration program. I have forwarded your email to the case officer, they will contact you shortly. Yours sincerely, if they did not confirm receiving form 1100 in 2 weeks from now, I will remind them again. I don't really mind waiting for a CO as long as I know they have got my 1100 from VIC I am really jinxed when it comes to lost forms! the latest example: beginning of April I got a long-awaited pay rise approved by the GM, and sent to the HR, the HR sent the form to the contracting company, they lost it, and they just sat down!!, 1 week later I found out they lost it, so I got them another copy of the letter, delivered by hand, and 3 days later I confirmed with them, they said every thing is in order, go ahead and spend your rise, so, I did! April ended, and surprise surprise! there was no rise! they said they lost the form, again! (and MasterCard shall have a big smile mid of May) a lost form almost got me married to the wrong woman, but that is another story!
