I cant believe that they made you change from regional to state sponsorship and then go and reject the application!! It cant do any harm to call them, there is never a wait on the phone. Ive called them a few times and I always seem to get through to a scottish lady called Donna. It just may clarify things for you. Lets hope that the changes that they are making to the MODL will be of benefit to you and you might not have a long a wait as you think :-)

Hi All

Just had what looks like an automated email to say our application for SS was unsucessful!

Even though we have jumped through all the hoops and meet the criteria.

I have asked them for more information and if we have a right to appeal.

Oh my goodness n111kkx that is awful. With them suggesting you switch to the 176 after you sending your expanded CV the first time around this seems very unexpected. Can you send them a copy of their email suggestion that you switch to the 176 as well.

Hopefully they will come back to you quickly and you can appeal.

Once you hear back is it worth putting a new thread on PIO to see if you can get more advice about your situation?

Good luck fingers crossed for you

I would like to know that have you already applied for 176 visa? Or have you decided to first get state sponsorship and then apply for visa?

We have just applied for VIC SS at the moment and will not lodge an application with DIAC unless we are successful with VIC.

Even though we have jumped through all the hoops and meet the criteria. This is what they said

"Thank you for your application for nomination under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the 176 - Sponsored scheme.

This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, along with an assessment of your ability to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Victoria. We need to ensure that our sponsored migrants have the necessary resources, support and commitment to successfully migrate to Victoria and it has been decided that your application was unsuccessful in this regard."

Just an automated email, as my husband has more qualifications than he knows what to do with, has been in the job since age 16 (now age 38), we have at least $150,000 in the bank to go to oz with and my sister lives there already! all crap! I dont believe it even went to a panel as they would have only got his cv today!

I have asked them for more information and if we have a right to appeal.

sad day

I think that first of all you need to know why you have been refused (asap)....

On my WA thread, we had someone refused, but it was just something simple, that could be resolved....He hadnt attached his documents....Ie: TRA pass & CV.....He then arranged to get these to WA & they put him back in the queue....Yes, it meant longer waiting, but eventually he was APPROVED!

I really hope that yours too is something simple....I mean it does sound like you are an ideal candidate....

Good luck....:cute:

Dear n111kkx,

Sorry to hear about your VIC SS result. But I am sure it could be some mistake on their end. So, don't give up and everything will be ok.

Nine of us so far!

I'm just wondering if there is anyone else waiting from June or earlier (or after too). Even if you would rather not join this timeline it would be interesting to know how long people are waiting to hear back about VIC SS at the moment?

I've been waiting from end of April for 176!!

Originally my agent had me down for a 475 then the Vic Gov came back to me requesting we change it to 176. Much better but waiting time on 475 didn't count.

Feel like it's never going to come through!!

It was submitted through a agent on the last week of April (not sure the exact date). The 475 was at the start of April and they came back to me requesting the change to 176 within 2 weeks. Took a few days for the agent to change the forms etc

17 Weeks and counting!!!!!!!!

Been in contact with my agent a number of time but still nothing yet

Was just reading about n111kkx!!! Putting me in panic mode! After all this I will be devistated if I get the same news. It's been a bumpy ride so far

Why don't u email vic and ask for the status of your sponsorship? Sometimes, you got to do certain things by yourself. You can't completely rely on your agent. What was your nominated occupatoin?

I asked my agent if there was a tracking number or something that I can find out myself. They told me there isn't one so I'm not sure how I would approach the Vic Gov.

Nominated occupation is 'Electrical Associate'. For some reason they didn't class me as an Electrical Engineer so they gave me Technologist. This wasn't on CSL so I had to ask Eng Oz to put me down another peg to Associate. Bit of a cheek actually because at the time I was a Senior Electrical Engineer and now I'm a Building Services Manager doing >£50M jobs!

Agent has asked that I give it another week or so as processing is really slow at the mo

looks like your agent is trying to fool you . First of all, as soon as you submit an SS application, you will get an acknowledgment email from victoria stating your tracking number and approx. time to complete the assessment (atleast in a months time you should receive this email). The assessment time may not be the same, but you can reply to them asking your current ss status based on the projected timeline. besides this, its better if your title matches the ASCO code which has 60 points/CSL/Modl. Something fishy regarding your agent! you have to find out your tracking number from them, which is the first step.

Maybe I misunderstand but my reference number is SS-2009-XXXX (sequence number I think).

If you mean job title my CV lists various titles in recent jobs because I've actually been mentoring/training people in my specialisation for a good few years and have stated those titles, hope that this doesn't cause me to be rejected :err:

Yes, scottishsteve, i think your agent is trying to con you, all of us have a tracking number (e.g. 2009-*****). You should ask your agent on this. one of the forumer here didn't have her tracking number, when she e-mailed the vic and enquired about this, she found out that they didn't get her application. The found the application later floating in the system. Hopefully, this is not your case. Ask your agent how the application was done. If it is online, ask for your user name and password. you can track the status of your application at www.liveinvictoria.gov.au. I think you've been waiting way too long...

Sometimes, we can't rely on the agent 100%.

Hi Scottishsteve

I'm with the others I think your agent should be able to provide you with a tracking number - we all have one. Maybe also ask your agent to send you a copy of the Victoria acknowledgement letter they received after submitting your application.

I think the agent should also be able to give you access to the online tracking, although it does not seem to be working it would at least show you you are on the system.

I think Cots & Eva are using an agent - were you guys able to access the VIC online tracking?

VIC processing does not seem to follow the normal timeline where applications are looked at in order but it appears to be by occupation and industrial panels - perhaps you just missed the industrial panel for your occupation and it is taking a while to come around again??

Maybe give your agent that week they have asked for but if your agent won't check with Victoria I think maybe you should - even if all you can do is give your name.

You can see the estimated processing time given by Victoria on the first page here. People applying now are being told to expect 10-12 weeks - back in June I was told 10 weeks. I don't know of anyone other than yourself who is waiting prior to June.

Plus as you can see from this timeline a few people have had bits an pieces lost in the database by the sounds of things.

Would you mind me adding your details to the first page?

Goodluck with it.

No problem. Feel free to add me to the database.

I'm starting to think they may have took there time when changing it from 475 to 176 and if they give me the tracking number/password etc I'll find out. Mmmmmmmmm

I'll give them a call today and let you know the outcome

Hi VickyMel, I actually applied for SS myself...my agent didnt see the point in me applying at the time!! so I just did it and sent him the login and passwords.

Scottishsteve, I reckon they have lost your application on their system like they did mine. Call them up tell them your Name, DOB, date you applied and hopefully they can give you your case id or if they dont have your application they can try and locate it & then you should have a case id in a few days.

Hi ScottishSteve

Just seen someone on another forum saying they applied April and although they have had an acknowledgement they are also still waiting to hear back from VIC.

I'm waitng for them to call me back. Didn't want to 'rock the boat' but I guess they work for me so I should be better informed. If I get no joy I'll contact Vic direct. I wouldn't be that concerned if it just took them a while to get the 176 together, as long as I know.

The saga continues......

Hi, referring back to a previous post, we used and agent and were not able to access online tracking although yes, like everyone else we did get a reference number as soon as the application was lodged with Victoria so I would agree that you should chase this up yourself with Vic for peace of mind. Despite having an agent I still e-mailed them a few times directly with queries for my own sanity!
