Hiya, I have JF as my CO aswell and just wanted to know what actually happens when you get your visa? Did you get an email or letter in the post and did you have to send you passport off? Thanks

Hi Savannah, You will receive an e-mail with an attachment saying that your visa was granted. You do not need to send your passport, the visa is linked to your passport number and it is electronical. Hope this helps

Hello all... I've been following this thread and it has been incredibly useful. Its great to hear so many success stories.

I do have a question tho. We sent ours in and have received a response back from DP requesting only Health and Police checks. Does that mean that everything else we sent in is enough and they only need these two checks now??

Does anyone have experiences where they asked for Health and Police checks then down the line requested more evidence for the relationship??

I am Australian with my partner requesting a visa with no kids involved. Is it as straight forward as that or will there be more evidence required based on your experience with their responses??

Hi Toffa,

I think that once your CO requests for medicals and police checks that means that your application has been approved on the basis of your relationship- that is genuine and ongoing.

I know. It would appear we're looking at 5 months regardless of what we provided. Did you frontload? We frontloaded with Police/ character check, but not medicals...

when you get approved, do you plan to leave soon after?

shocked by the price of one way flights at the moment!! :realmad:

I have the advantage of having no commitments or responsibilities in England, so I'm gonna be jetting off as soon as. I haven't looked in to flights too much yet. I did find a couple for between £600 & £700. Think I will have a quick browse now :)

the taxes are the worst part! (typical). i really wanna fly singapore airlines, i still think they are the best. with emirates coming in a close second. flew cathay pacific last time i was out and whilst i love the fact noone can intrude on your seat in front, they do get uncomfortable. would love to fly business but i cant justify the cost!!:twitcy:

have you already done your medical?

I have flown Emirates twice and BA/Qantas once, I found them both comfortable and the foods was edible. I would like to fly with Ethiad or Singapore next.

I have done my medical, I did it before I sent in my application.

Me too. Are you the Aussie or is your OH the aussie? I'm aussie and OH is scottish. I'm dying to get out of here too. Its snowing and its march!! lol. :goofy:Will be interesting to see what sort of timeline we both end up with considering we've sent the same thing on the same day. I'm terribly impatient to. I said to OH last night...do you think they'll email us tomorrow. He just laughed and said, forget about it till we hear. How can he be so calm?

I know that with the visa, once it's been granted you need to go over to validate within a certain timeframe. I'm under the impression that this is connected to the medical, although I might be wrong in thinking that. We plan to move over in June next year, if we sent my application off now is it worth frontloading with the medical? I would rather frontload the application completely with the medical and police checks so that it's done, but would the medical "expire" before we plan to go? Or are you usually given a year to validate from grant of visa rather than date of medical?

Thanks guys.

Jess

If you do your medical and police checks now, your validation date will be one year from whichever one has the oldest date on it (but March next year either way). I wouldn't bother frontloading, it really only helped when partner visas were granted in under a month (not since 2009!)..

My visa application was submitted the same day as another member on here (fleabo). We both had similar circumstances (long relationship, mortgage, kids) and were assigned the same CO. Yet his visa was granted 2 months ahead of mine - go figure.

I think you get 12 months from the date of the medical & police check. We didnt frontload our medical as we didnt really know if you could or not, so we decided just to wait till they told us to go. We plan to leave within a month of an approval, so we werent too bothered about the dates of the police check. Have you already completed all the paperwork? :spinny:

I hope so. The send receive button on my email is getting a workout. My little one is having a nap at the moment, so I've too much time on my hands (completely ignoring the white elephant that is the washing).

What part of aus are you returning to?

I was waiting five months for my visa, fleabo around three.

Phone harrassment will get you nowhere, I learned the hard way. The COs are trained with ninja skills to not budge. I spent months hassling and cajoling her in the belief that it would help my case. My agent got so frustrated with me they offered to resign from my case. I wished I saved myself the heartache as ultimately I didn't get my visa any quicker.
