does anyone know if we will be effected by any changes if we have already applied

Dear ISBC

If you have already applied for SA state sponsorship and get the tracking number, you would not be affected by the change introduced by SA.

Good luck mate!

Not sure if SA will do the same, but last time Qld updated their list, they stated that they would honour applications from the old list if received by a certain date (think it was within a week or so).

Dear mandymar,

It's sure that SA would honor the applications which have been successfully lodged before the change. Seems fair, good luck!

We applied for SA Sponsorship on the 09/09/2009 and were concerned that ours wouldnt be confirmed, due to no further applications being taken at the moment, but we got an e-mail today with confirmation of Sponsorship, so if you have already applied I dont think that you need to worry.

Hi Tresa good to hear you got ss approved. What is next? do they directly contact DIAC to inform your nomination or you have to provide DIAC a letter from SA?

I have applied for SA almost the same date you applied and hope to receive answer soon.

If your app to SA is already in you really don't need to worry. Look at those coming through and the agent we used is saying SA will honour apps already in. Hope this helps if you are one of those waiting.

MEET AND GREET

We found it was no use as you had to arrange it 4 weeks before you go and already had to have somewhere booked to live.

We didn't know anyone in SA...so were struggling to book somewhere as we didn't know areas etc etc. I think we were typical of those who really needed help but because of no address didn't qualify ! With 3 kids this was really unhelpful to say the least.

I know others wlll have had really good experiences but if like us you are struggling to even get started and don't want to end up in something potentially in arough area that they could put you in you may find it lacking.

I think we should do our own now a few of us are already here !!

Its all really easy when you know where and what to do....and all the staff behind counters are lovely ..just the opposite of customer service in the UK.

Hi All,

We went to the meet up point on Sunday but either no-one else did or we couldn't find them.....so I thought I'd just publish some directions to be really clear on where exactly the meet up is.

Time: 1st Sunday Every Month 3pm

What you'll need: Bring a picnic or barbie food..there are free electric barbies available...or there's a small cafe.

Venue: Kingston Park, Adelaide - right next to the Brighton Caravan Park and Holiday Village

What its like: Its right on the front, a few steps away from a lovely sandy beach which streches all the way (miles and miles) to Glenelg, there is a car park and a kids park, a good amount of shady area too. The holiday park is small and nice.

Directions: Proceed South from Glenelg along Brighton Road which eventually becomes Lonsdale Road, when you start to climb up the hill (its a very long hill) watch for the camp site sign..you get about 200m warning to turn it will direct you left down Schofield Road towards the sea. ...(if you get to Hallett Cove then you've missed the sign and you've gone too far). Keep following the signs for Kingston House and the campsite (its really well signed) until you reach the campsite/holiday village. Park up and at the opposite side of the car park to the holiday village is a grassed area right in front of the beach with a couple of benches and a park.....(NB NOT the caravan site play area which is right next to the car park).

Hope to see some of you there in November

Gday everyone, i'm new to the forum and got a couple of question to the expert :D

I posted on seperate thread but not getting much attention so I try here hoping anyone could drop me a hint.

Does anyone know what happen in the 2 years commitment to living in the state after you have been granted a PR under state sponsorship? Is this 2 years have to be continuous and straight out after you got your PR, any condition I should be aware of.

Say if family emergency oversea and you have to be there for couple of month, may be a year, will this possible without breaking you visa condition.

Also what the chance and condition to apply for citizen ship with State sponsorship PR?

I'm thinking to apply 886 Onshore though, been here 4 years.

Thanks all.Any help will be really appreciated

Well no going back now. Booked our flights today! We are flying to Melbourne on 10th March so will def be at the April bbq. Got a great deal on flights with Flight Centre, we are flying from Heathrow to Melbourne, 2 adults and 2 kids, Cathay Pacific for £1718. Two hour wait at HK so total time only about 23 hours. We are then hiring a camper van and doing the Great Ocean Road, during which it will be the mrs birthday (15th) so should be one to remember.

Oh my god................. Just sinking in now - it's really happening

Now just a house, job and school to find, as well as selling all our stuff, shipping saying goodbyes................................

Busy time ahead!

Hi Shaz,

we too are flying from Glasgow on 24th November, heading to Adelaide. We've an evening flight from Heathrow with Cathay Pacific, stopping in Hong Kong for a few hours.

We'll also hopefully be attending the meet up in December. Very strange to think we'll be in Oz in less than 8 weeks - scary and exciting!!

Cheers

Hi Sowters!

Good luck on the house sale, we are gonna rent ours for now. If you are looking for good flight deals I just booked our flights with Flightcentre. The cathay Pacific flights are coming in about £400 less than the others for a family of four!

We are flying out in March so see you at the April meet.

Damo,

Not selling now, decided to rent out, people who viewed on Thursday say they'll take it so just wait for their credit checks etc to come through then its all ahead full speed. Its gonna be a busy Christmas trying to see everyone before we leave. Flights planned for 20th Jan, Cathay Pacific are coming up cheapest but are you getting any extra on baggage allowances? Tania has been looking at flights through a company called IOM who I think specialise in deals for people who are migrating and for our dates we managed to get prices around £1800 for 2 adults and an 8 yr old with double baggage allowance,

keeep us updated and we'll see at the park

Best Wishes

Mark, Tania n Emily
