Glad someone got the joke ! Got my AITSL last week and submitted my EOI on monday so the name may not apply any more. Any updates on the best time to apply for jobs prior to the move ? Hoping to head out May / July 2016.

Hi Heisenberg. The next round of EOI's is Monday so we're keeping our fingers crossed we get that email on Sunday/Monday!! With regards to jobs, most agencies won't discuss anything wth you until you have a valid work visa. Once you've got it I'd start contacting agencies where you want to work. Where are you looking to move to? My BF has found some great jobs on a Qld gov website. Good luck with the EOI!! hd

Hi Kirsty. How's it all going? Hannah

Hi Hjd,

I'm sorry I have only just saw your message. I just happened across it by chance when searching for some information.

We have sent off our skills assessment on 3rd October and have yet to have a response. I'm a little worried as everyone seems to get theirs within three weeks. However mine was sent from a BFPO address and had to go via the UK first so perhaps that has held it up.

Great news for you though receiving a positive assessment.

i have my IELTS booked for next month so I have been practising for that so fingers crossed I will hear something soon.

Have you had an invite yet? I have my fingers crossed for you.

The standard time for an AITSL skills assessment result is 10 weeks from the date they receive your application through the post. Have you been checking for updates online? If not, here is the link: http://www.migration.aitsl.edu.au/CheckApplicationStatus

Good luck with it all :)

Thanks Chatterbox,

Yeah I did read it takes 10 weeks but I haven't received confirmation of receipt which means I don't have a reference number yet. So I sent it off 3 weeks ago and still heard nothing. Thanks for the link though thats really helpful for if and when I do receive confirmation of receipt.

Hmm... that does sound a bit strange, I'm pretty sure I received my receipt within ten days. Give it another few days then email them perhaps? Did you send it registered post?

Hello! I've been reading through so many pomsinoz.com forums since my bf and I decided to start the visa process for Aus. I wanted to start a new thread to chart our process and also to see how other people going through the same process were getting on. So, what's going on so far.....

My bf is a secondary school teacher here in the UK with 5 years experience. He is applying for the 189 visa as a Secondary School teacher and I'll tag along as a de-facto - we've been together a few years and own a property together. We are in our early 30's with no kiddies and both university educated.

We haven't sent any paperwork off yet as we've been waiting for all his transcripts to come back. The last one arrived today...yay....and we are going to have the completed application for assessment sent off by the end of the week. And that's as far as we have got!!! It's taken nearly 3/4 months to get all the transcripts together. The ones from his A-Levels took forrrrrrever. The university ones were actually surprisingly quick.

The plan is to send off the application for assessment this Friday; get back an approval for us to then apply for an EOI; get some health/police checks; then go on to apply for the visa; pack our bags and move to Sydney....sounds simple doesn't it!? ;)

What stories does anyone else applying for the 189 got?! Please....tell me all! h

Hi there

I am am applying as a Secondary Teacher. I am currently a PT in Scotland and teach Social Subjects. My OH is an Electrician. We are applying for 189. I've had a positive skills assessment. Sat IELTS and needed 8s in every category (overall score doesn't count) eventually sat Pearsons PTE Academic and scored highly. We have 65 points at the moment and this weekend we are going to get all the paperwork looked out to submit the EOI eeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk:wub: I'm not sure when the next round of invites are so Ill need to check that! Sometimes recently doubts are creeping in but that's just because I've been thinking too much! Our plan is to take things a year at a time. Go for a year and take it from there. Keep house here and rent it out. We are planning to go to Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area. I guess it will all depend on work. Good luck!!

Exciting times Birch4! I'm a fellow Scottish PT moving to Oz. Nice to know someone else in the same boat. Are you hoping to secure a HofD or a main scale teaching post?

Awesome! Good luck :)

Are you looking at Brisbane? (Just saw the points underneath your comment)

I'm heading there in 2 weeks for Christmas to see my brother as he lives in Wellington Point! I am looking to make a move there eventually!

Not to upset people but I cannot believe they are taking teachers in when we have a vast oversupply of un and underemployed home trained ones. It seems like madness to me but, hey, that's our government for you!

Their objective is to keep themselves in a job.

Hi hjd & Ana,

My wife is going to start ATISL assessment for immigration class 189 as secondary school teacher, we are currently living in Dubai and she is Teaching English in a school.

AITSL requires 45 days supervised teaching practice. During her studies she completed more than 45 days as supervised teaching practice but she doesn't have any sort of document/certificate.

could you let us know what sort of this document. Do you have any sort of format/template? Accordingly she will go to her university and request to furnish the same.

There is one area in WA that is heading for an absolutely massive shortage and that is, Design and Technology. Despite the Ed Dept re-training primary teachers to switch to secondary D and T, there are still simply not enough D and T teachers. The majority of D and T teachers are over fifty five years old and looking to retire in the next couple of years.

I agree wholeheartedly with you regarding primary school teachers, it is absolute madness to bring more over when there are so many Aussies looking for jobs all over the nation.

Can you help me in getting the format of 45 days supervised teaching certificate as required by ATISL.

You will need documentation (such as a headed letter detailing it) from the university, if it is not shown on her official academic transcript.
