Awesome deal..aussie beers and mini pizzas $3 each on wed, amonst others...think we will give it a try. Ive been in once and remeber it as fine, we sat in the courtyard one summer eve...not rough, very nice

It could do with a snow dome. Does anyone want to lend me $50m to build one?

If he had that kinda money my OH would be up for it. After living next door to the Cairngorms for 13 years, he got Into it. Since then he has made do with wherever we have lived. The snow dome in Dubai or Xtreme near Hoffs stomping ground in Castleford. Both ace for places that don't really do snow, but not as ace as the real snow covered mountains over Europe, USA and Canada.

upon saying that I've yet to do skiing Oz or New Zealand style, looked it up, but ooh expensive.

So basically a snow dome in Perth would be good for locals and tourists alike

Must be you Tonyman. That's beyond unlucky tbh. I've been to Tenerife and go to Joondalup a lot. I've seen a bit of trouble at night in a couple of pubs but that's about it.

well it happened ,in Tenerife , we were heading towards a parked coach , I saw the flicker /reflection of a knife between 2 men , said too mrs tonyman "just head and walk to your left , don't get alongside the coach " seconds to spare he un flicked his knife ........had a few Brandys that night ...........must admit ive escaped death a few times , someone must be looking down on me for sure .........

I wonder if Joondalup really has much in the way of redeeming features though. I find it on my infrequent visits pretty much what would be expected from a satellite city which Joondalup is after all is.

Put it this way I would be unlikely to make a special visit there without a reason. Unlike Fremantle where would go several times a year as a destination. I doubt any tourist would venture to Joondalup as a must see location.

I recently had the need to make two visits there the same week after an absence of several years. The shopping centre there at expanded considerably over time. Took awhile to find the way out from the train station. While the shopping centre was very active, I didn't find the actual city so.

Still a rather contrived sort of place. Milton Keynes sort of comes to mind, spread out and auto reliant. Not a place I'd hurry back to I must say.

I too recall being in Perth on a holiday and taking a train out there in 94 to look at the yet to be completed new city of Joondalup. It did look impressive then but decades later find it a bit of an opportunity lost, in what could have been a centre for inner city living.

Must be pretty dead at night on the streets I imagine. I can appreciate it is a centre focus for those living in the northern suburbs but really little more in my eyes than that.

Its really a very newish sterile type of place really Joondalup, kind of like East Perth, but overall its rather safe as can be unless you are Tonyman of course hehehh. Theres not much character - I work there but I dont shop, eat there or go to cafes /pubs- much prefer Mt Lawley or Leederville area. At nights theres a couple of nightclubs, Its no Northbridge...but thats not a bad thing either..
