dredg97
Hi all, I had recently two job interviews with different companies, no formal offer yet at this stage, however one is offering 120K per year on a Perth based role, the other one 120K base salary plus uplift (I don't know how much it's going to be, they didn't specify) and superannuation on a FIFO 3:1. We are a family of four with 2 small babies (4 and 1 year old) and I will be the only one to get a salary. I would prefer to stay in the city to be close to my family, but will 120K gross be ok in Perth? The FIFO role should bring in more money (if the uplift is significant), but it wouldn't be the best option especially in the beginning for a recent migrating family (my wife hasn't functional English). In any case, I am lucky to get job interviews while I'm still overseas, I will be in Perth permanently in a month, the priority is to secure a job. Cheers. Que Sera Sera
I would absolutely advise to go for the Perth based rather than Fifo. Firstly your children are very small and need you around. Secondly your wife will need you especially if her English is not that good. $120,000 should be more than enough to live a nice life .
JoandJon
I agree with Que Sera Sera - Jon turned down a rather lucrative job in Sydney because I'd already got a job in Melbourne and that's where we wanted to be based. Best decision we made - and without which there would probably be no Siena
nicolac34
I'd go Perth based over any FIFO job, $120k in Perth should be enough for you to live comfortably on.
VERYSTORMY
As a FIFO worker i would go Perth based. The uplift isnt usually that big anyway.

SiandSuz
Since you have children I'd go for the perth based! FIFO has its pros and cons but going home to your children each night would probably be slot nicer
