Skilled Visas - Ranking of applications under the EoI

Welcome to PIO

I think the 540 is the occupation celing and thats per year not month.

Forgive my laziness and not having searched... is there a link/thread on PIO that highlights the Ceiling per occupation/nomination or category post July '12 reforms?

E.g. I am to nominate marketing specialist from the new CSOL under Direct entry scheme. Given that I fulfill all criteria how do I find out the ceiling in my respective area?

Thanks

Bonza!

Answered my own question

Occupation Ceilings are here : http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ <---Go to the "Reports" tab on the right and you will find the occupation code vs annual ceiling.

My husband is currently filling out the Victroia University stills assesment form and portifiopicturs etc, so we are still quite away for the EOI process, but my husbands turns 40 in August 2013 does this mean that the visa etc has to be grated by this date or is it the date that the EOI etc was lodged?

Hi,

I received the Assessment from engineers Australia for claiming assessment for professional engineer. Im a telecommunications engineer with a work experience of more than 5 years. The assessment report mentions as standing for a Professional Engineer (skill level 1). What is the meaning of this skill level 1? does it imply any specific applications only?

I have a total points of 55 when it comes to 189 class visa(independent) and 60 points for 190 ( sponsored). My IELTS score is 6.5 for the listening part, the only score below 7 hence i cannot claim the extra 10 points for IELTS 7 band. Could anyone advice me whether I should go for the state sponsorship or redo my IELTS so that i can claim 10 points for it and make my points score to 65 for the 189 class visa (independent)

It would be a great help if anyone could advice regarding this.

Thanks,

Dushanthan

Check whether your preferred State Government requires a higher IELTS result if they are going to sponsor your visa application.

If they don't, go for State Sponsorship and a subclass 190 visa application.

Best regards.

Hi Alan,

Thank you very much for the reply.

I still have not launched an EOI for the new skillselect system. I would prefer to go to Victoria/NSW.

Also I would like to know is it possible for me to choose which state I would like to go for the State Sponsorship and a subclass 190 visa application?

Thanks

Hi. We have been selected in the first pool in August to apply for the 189 visa. Our medicals have been submitted this week and I think it's now just a waiting game. Has anyone else been selected in the first pool and is there any indication yet of how long applications are taking to process? Thanks.

We are planning to apply for PR. Need inputs from the forum members. Me and my husband have work ex or 4y4m and 5 y respectively, but it is split in two parts. Before and after MBA. Current work ex post MBA is 2 yr 4 months for both. Subclass 189 and 190 says 36/48 months in last 4 yrs should be in same occupation. So we are unable to find the right visa type for us. because 30 months back we were actually in B-schools.

Other work ex previous to MBA is 23 months (me) 33 months (husband).

We are in the same industry through out the employment: IT industry for 4 Y 4 M (me), and 5 Y (husband)

Work profile before MBA - more technical, 70% development or testing, 30% business analysis

Work profile after MBA - more functional, 70% business analysis, 30% development or testing

Please advise which visa will suit us wrt Australia 189/190? Our ultimate objective is to get PR of Australia.

Hi Dushanthan... According to your IELTS score its 6.5 each, you may qualify for SA ans WA states as they have the requirments of 6.5 each. In victoria its 7 each. IHOPE YOU PLEASE check the skilled occupation list of sttates and then apply ., be caution while moving to SA as its rules are diffrent.

1. First create your EOI asap , please dont make any error in EOI as it ( any error even if by mistake) may create a problem in geeting SS and then visa .

2. then after checking requirments to States apply ASAS.

THAANKS,

Dear Allen thanku for response,

He is 26 years , 5+ years of experiance as assistant professor in electrical engineering department in reputed engineering college in India. He did his master in engineering and is post qulified experiance. with 6 each in IELTS.

he said that his qalification and experiance is acessed by Engineers austral;ia and the nominated occupation is 233311 Eklectrical enginering. But he is worried that somone tolda that no dout EA nominated him as engineer but DIAC case officer will not consider it. So He is stuck woith his application there. Moreover South australia also granted his state sponsership in same occupation. But having all these his dout is with DIAC case officer.. please clear the situation . Do you suggest to lodge the application?

Hi guys,

I graduated from UTS recently (law), received a positive skill assessment and admitted as a solicitor in NSW. My IELTS were unfortunately, L 8.0 R 8.5 S 7.5 W 7.5 .

I wanted to apply for the permanent visa 885 but lack the points as I did not score all 8s in my IELTS. Now Looking at the Skill Select, I would meet the pass park (60) when I hit 25 in January next year and I think I would be eligible for an extra 5 points if I was sponsored by NSW. Just wondering if I need to retake the IELTS again and if there are other requirements to meet to be eligible for sponsorship by the state government???

Regards,

Derek

I completed my EOI on 31st July with 60 points but didnt submitt untill 19th Oct . My EOI was showing 31/07/2012 as Date of effect untill yesterday when it suddenly changed to 19/10/2012:mad:. So I suppose when you actually submitt your EOI thats what becomes your date of effect right? Because I didnt change any information before submitting my EOI which could change my points score.

Any feedback would be apreciated :)

I thought some readers of the forum would be interested in the following extract from newly published DIAC policy on the SkillSelect model:

To ensure that every EoI has a unique ranking, equally scoring EoIs will be separated by the date and time at which the intending migrant met all eligibility factors and points test score for a given subclass. The time of effect will be updated each time the intending migrant amends their EoI resulting in a change to their points test score or eligibility for a subclass. If an intending migrant changes their information, but it does not change their points score or eligibility, this will not alter their date of effect for the purposes of ranking against a particular subclass of visa.

The ranking of an EoI will also change if SkillSelect determines that the intending migrant is no longer eligible for a particular visa or claims against the points test have changed resulting in a higher or lower points test score - for example, if the intending migrant:

• has completed an EoI for a subclass 189 visa and

• has a birthday and turns 50 (exceeding the maximum age permitted)

they are no longer eligible to complete an EoI for a Subclass 189 visa.

Ranking is an objective and automatic process, conducted by SkillSelect daily in order to facilitate the issue of an invitation with no intervention by departmental staff. The ranking is based on the information provided by the intending migrant.

An example of how the points score of an EoI for a given subclass would change due to an intending migrant updating their details is as follows:

An intending migrant submitted a complete EoI for a subclass 189 Skilled - Independent visa on 1 August 2012. They claimed a points score of 55, which included 10 points for their trade qualification. They later completed a bachelor degree, and on 10 September 2012 at 0911 hours and 13 seconds AEST Australian Capital Territory, updated their EoI to claim an additional 5 points for this qualification. Hence for the purposes of ranking the EoI, the date of effect is 10 September 2012 at 0911 hours 13 seconds with a points score of 60 points.

This change does not effect the date of submission of their EoI, which is still valid for 2 years from the original lodgment date of 1 August 2012, when they submitted their EoI for the first time.

Periodically invitations will be issued to the top ranking EoIs for intending migrants seeking to apply for an independent or family sponsored skilled visa.

Best regards.

I have an approved 457 (long stay) visa as ict project manager. looking at migration options an agent indicated as ict PM is on CSOL there would be restrictions attached around location and suggested to apply for roles which are on sched 1 (eg : system analyst, cio etc). Can you pls help me on

1. how to go abt finding which states currently have openings (or offering sponsorships) for ict project manager

2. is it feasible/right to apply for other roles when i actually have approved for ict project manager. thanks for your inputs
