  1. I have applied for two visas through Skillselect (long story) and both the respective invitations to apply were sent out between 00:01-0100 hours EST. Jonny
  2. Cheers for the reply. It's an indoor gym that I'm particularly looking for as then I don't have to factor in the weather.
  3. Morning folks! Just a quick one, anyone know of a decent gym that I can use during my short validation trip, particularly any with running tracks? I'm not bothered about one with a pool, spa, etc. I'm staying with family in Yokine so one "near" to there would be grand. Thanks for any advice, Jonny
  4. Fingers crossed for you that they do or at least lower the visa charges...... I recall they reduced the 65 point passmark they were going to introduce for SkillSelect to 60 when everyone thought it was set in stone. Jonny
  5. Surely you have to have a completed skills assessment and the results in your hand before you can apply for a state sponsored visa? Jonny
  6. If you apply for a 190 you don't have to "go into the pot" for the monthly SkillSelect rounds and should receive an invitation to apply for a 190 visa shortly after you receive State Sponsorship. The case officer allocation timeline is shorter for the 190 visa (5 weeks) than the 189 (10 weeks) however what you have to take into account is that the States themselves can drag their heels when they process your State Sponsorship application. I initially applied for NSW SS which took three months before I received approval from the State itself. In the meantime, I successfully applied for a 189 because I got tired of waiting for SS. Good luck with your visa application. Jonny
  7. If I were you I wouldn't bother with a 190 if you have enough points for a 189. I have just been granted a 189 within 8 weeks of lodging my EOI with 60 points which I think is pretty good going. Jonny
  8. No the eligible family member sponsoring an applicant does not have to disclose his or her financial state of affairs. As long as the eligible family member sponsoring you resides in a "designated area" which includes the whole of WA then you can reside/work in any other "designated area" within Australia. Jonny
  9. *wags finger at Candygirl* I will echo Lebourvellec's advice. Don't bother just yet. You know me Lady, I have successfully applied for two visas and not been asked to complete a form 80 for either. Jonny
  10. For the purposes of a subclass 489 Family Sponsored visa designated areas in Queensland where a sponsor should reside are: Postcode areas 4019-4028, 4037-4050, 4079-4100, 4114, 4118, 4124-4150, 4158-4168, 4180-4899 (anywhere except Brisbane metropolitan area) From the DIAC website. Jonny
  11. Del70, once you receive your confirmation email from AITSL you can then monitor the progress of your application through the link they provide you with. Then the patience game really starts......
  12. Their website says: "On receipt of an application the payment (AUD$550) is processed and an email notification is issued with an application reference number for use in all communications with AITSL.Allow 5-10 working days before receiving the notification email." One thing you will have to learn when dealing with AITSL is patience. This is based on my own experience with them. Jonny
  13. Not necessarily, it just means irrespective of how many points (minimum 60) you claim in the EOI you lodge for a skilled visa from today, you will not receive an invitation to apply before July 2013 for the occupation of systems analyst. Of course, the other factor you have to bear in mind is whether that occupation remains on the Skilled Occupation List post June 2013. If it does, then you may receive an invitation to apply for a visa then. Good luck! Jonny
  14. Fingers crossed you get your 190 soon Bubbe. After all you're the Doyen(ne) of the NSW 190 processing saga!
  15. Yes I was very fortunate. I received an email from NSW stating that I had been successful and requesting that I provide them with an EOI reference which must be provided within 90 days of receiving state sponsorship approval. NSW is one of the few (if not only) states that does not require applicants to have lodged an EOI prior to applying for state sponsorship. However, due to the recent tardiness of the NSW 190 process I have now been granted a 189 visa which I applied for at the same time as I submitted my docs to NSW. Therefore I shall be emailing NSW saying thanks but no thanks. Jonny
