  1. Hi everyone, I have been reading through the comments and trying to wrap my head around this whole process. My mother in law is currently here on 173 and waiting on her 143. She had two sons my brother in law who has been a citizen for 6+years and my husband currently PR waiting on citizenship. We received notification of her queue date - 06 NOV 2018. Does anyone have an idea on what the timeline on on visa processing or grant would be from here? We have gone through sponsorship-PR-citizenship but this process for parent visa is a bit mind blowing/confusing. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Some movement on our TRT nomination and application today. The department requested some documents from the employer and ourselves which submitted same day. Hopefully we here back soon!
  3. My partner and I are both from UK and had both our babies here on a 457 visa also waiting for our PR, unfortunately nothing is claimable from the UK and as you know nothing in Australia either. I hadn't lived in the UK since 2016 and they wouldn't entertain the conversation as I hadn't resided or paid tax or NI there in over 2 years.
  4. Really? we are same occupation and applied in may 2021. have you had any requests or communication from the department? are you onshore? Are you from high risk country? Hoping our visa won’t take that long.
  5. Hi there, The forum has been quiet recently, was wondering if anyone knows if the current lockdowns effect the visa processing or they go business as usual? Also, are there any carpenters or other trades out there with any updates recently ?
  6. Have you had any news? We are also applying under same occupation and finally got to lodge applications yesterday and had our medicals completed today! don’t see many trades on here.
  7. Yes this is a good point. All my midwife appointment were done at hospital and bulk bill but when it comes to scans and tests you may want, for example NIPT then you have to pay for these and are held at specific imaging centers . There are small medicare rebates for some scans (dependent on where you go) but for the NIPT/Harmony test they are out of pocket.
  8. Yes its frustrating but nothing we can do about it sadly. Daycare is very expensive in Sydney! i would be give or take $300per day to send both my kids Yes both of my pregnancy and births all covered by medicare. We went public with Royal North Shore, great hospital and amazing care. We must be on same medicare - we are both from UK and fully reciprocal medicare.
  9. Hi, Unfortunately government paid parental leave is counted from once you are granted PR, so you would need to have been in Australia as a permanent resident for 2+years to be eligible. Myself and partner are here currently since 2016 also waiting to apply for PR next month but had both our children when on our 457 so have looked into it multiple times for various reason and spoken with centrelink regarding entitlement after PR. We wont be claiming for anything apart from childcare subsidy but have been made aware of waiting periods for all other family related claims. Depending where you work and the companies policy they may offer you some sort of paid parental leave. I don't think they have too but i have a few friends that were in a similar position and had really supportive employers who offered some sort of help.
  10. Does anyone know of any visa approvals for applicants who were stood down during lock down? Hopefully if once re-opened everyone was back to full time employment without any employees being let go then it cant be held against the applicant.
  11. I have had experience with this for domestic only with Virgin and Qantas. Both of them we had to book our flights and then call the airline to add newborn (lap infant) once they where born.
  12. Hi Steve, Firstly , congrats on your first bub . I have a friend who had her first baby back in September , she is also UK citizen and has PR in Australia. She is a single mum and applied for her mother to fly over for the birth and to stay for first month for help as she has no family here and the request was denied sadly. Her mum does live in the UK though so that might have made a difference. Like other have said doesn't cost anything to try though, Goodluck!!
  13. Hi, Our understanding from our agent was for the work experience requirement, it has to be 3 year full time contracted employment with the sponsoring employer and any periods of unpaid leave wont be counted in the 3 year.
  14. Hi everyone, Just looking for some information on this visa process. My mother- in-law applied for 143 visa in November 2018, she has paid the initial visa cost when applying and now we are just playing the waiting game. She has been sponsored by her son (brother-in-law) and myself and partner (her other son) are currently waiting on our PR visa to come through. Both her children live in Australia with all her grand children and she is by herself in the UK so we are keen to get her here as i am sure everyone is with their family. When are we likely to hear anything from the department? what is the processing looking like? We have used a migration agent but because of these dragged out waiting times don't want to pester him when we are still likely to be waiting a few years. I find this visa the most confusing to follow. I am no stranger to Australian visa processing but all the processes for the 143 and que dates and rule changes have got us confused. TIA for any help.
