  1. Me and my partner are currently waiting on our PR visa to be accepted through the skilled worker so as it stands we are still on a temporary 457 visa. We are due to have our first baby in September and don't qualify for any kind of maternity pay whilst i am away from work I was wondering if anyone knew if its possible to claim anything from the UK or anything we can try that we may not know we can get We are both British Citizens and worked until we left the UK 5 years ago and are both employed full time in Australia
  2. Thankyou so much for replying! That’s as I thought which is such a shame as we’ve lived here nearly 5 years, pay our taxes etc so seems unfair we have to wait another 2 years to be eligible but never mind! Do you know if pregnancy / giving birth is covered by Medicare?! We have a repricol medical card as we are from the UK
  3. Hoping someone can help me with this one. Me and my partner moved to Australia in 2016 and are currently on a 457 visa and will be applying for PR next month . Does anyone know how long you have had to have PR before you are entitled to maternity pay as its' very misleading on the websites as it advises as long as you have been a resident for 3 years in Australia (which we have for tax purposes) but wondering if we will be entitled to anything? Im due in September so was hoping our PR may have come in just in time but if the 3 year rule stands from having PR then we wont qualify! If anyone could shed any light that would be great!
