  1. Checking December many with just 65 points were getting visas, and being two teachers we have everything crossed. There just seems to be a delay - hopefully due to the 35,000 being processed. I know these 35,000 only have 60 days to press apply. I’d be keen to see how many of these pressed apply! We actually ate decluttering at the minute so let’s see what happens!
  2. So we're ready and waiting and have been doing so for a few weeks now. EOI is sitting there on skillselect as submitted with 80 points. I'm going mad every morning checking my emails to see if an invite has come through. Any ideas on when the next Invites for a 189 will come out? I can see that 35,000 went out in early December... Is there anything I can do whilst i wait?
  3. Do we know when the next round of invites takes place? Was the last one in December or is that a roundup of everyone they have done from October to December and they do invites every few weeks?
  4. Im Computer Science and ICT. My wife is Physical Education but can teach KS3 maths. To be honest we’ll even do cover work if there is nothing straight away. We do have some contacts in schools an hour South of Perth. Things are looking good.
  5. Everything crossed. I did spot they did 35,000 invites in December. I hope this doesn’t mean there will be a delay or a greatly reduced amount in the next invite stages.
  6. We’re on 80 points so fingers crossed we get an invite. I can’t see any timeline for the 189 anywhere on here.
  7. Pearson results through 2 hours after the exam - pretty much full marks! Superior 20 points thank you very much EOI now being done!
  8. AITSL assessment complete 14/02/2023. Pearson test this morning. Could we be doing an EOI by dinner time today?!
  9. Sorry to reopen an old post..... Do you need a HAP number for the police checks? What's potentially stopping you from doing the Police checks before the invite?
  10. They've already been accepted once for my wife (we're using her qualifications) but due to covid the timer ran out and they won't let us use this certificate!
  11. Skills are now being checked with AITSL - submitted 22/01/23 - let's see how long that takes. English exam - we've booked two during half term next week including one on Valentine's Day (oops!), otherwise, the next time we can do it will be much later in the year. We have booked a Pearson and a TOEFL. Am I correct in thinking there is no point in booking medicals and police records until I get an invite?
  12. Interesting as Mandurah/Secret Harbour was where we have been looking as we have quite a few friends there. I’m still scratching my head which one to go with. The WA education board are looking at my qualifications from the scitt to see if they are allowed to be used to teach over there. Exciting times!
  13. My visa wouldn’t go through as it wasn’t Liverpool John Moores who gave me the placements in school in my Scitt year it was the training provider and they would t budge at all after about 4 months of going back to AITSL. We’re now wondering do we go for the 189 visa or do we go for the sponsored one from WA? What are the pros and cons of both?!
  14. So just over a year later I see this post and see the bottom of it. So my wife was fine and skills were okay. We could have applied for the Visa and if we went I could have applied for teaching jobs with no issues???!?
  15. Still trying! AITSL not being very nice about my SCITT course. Trying to see what other options are available! So annoying as we're two qualified teachers!
  16. Hi all. The wife and I are both teachers. My wife qualified at Liverpool John Moores University as a PE teacher and did everything University based back in 2006. She has taught in a secondary school since this date. We applied for her skills assessment got everything through from AITSL in 8 weeks with no issues. I applied just before her however and I'm getting nowhere. I recently became a teacher after a career change and went via a SCITT based in the North West and LJMU. This issue I'm having is that the SCITT arranged my supervised teaching placements instead of the University. I managed to get a great letter from the University trying to help me out but sadly it hasn't worked. Due to this occurring AITSL have declined me - here is the extract from the email from AITSL: We understand that a formal academic award and transcript has been issued by Liverpool John Moores University, however this institution has also clearly stated they did not participate in any way in the selection, organisation, supervision or assessment of your supervised teaching practice. In order for AITSL to recognise your teaching qualification, our requirement is for a statement of supervised teaching practice from the awarding university. This demonstrates a link between the theory being taught as part of an academic qualification and the opportunity to practice this under university supervision. Your university has confirmed Endeavour SCITT was responsible for this component of the qualification, therefore it has been found unsuitable for an AITSL skills assessment. Is there anything I can do? I feel like we have spent so much on this between the pair of us and have failed at the last hurdle. So annoying as part of the career change was done so I would be able to gain points to teach in Australia!
  17. I loved it. The Ritz was half built when I was last there. Our friends live in Secret Harbour and we loved some of the houses there. Also loved Mandurah. We'll just have to take a look now.....
  18. Ill have to take another visit!! Any decent places for teachers?!
  19. Probably as they are still building it! I also love the areas around it where you can build your own house. Having been to other places in Melbourne and close to Coffs Harbour the houses are a bit "dated" - or at least the ones I've visited. Please tell me if im wrong.. As I said may need a visit again to look other than WA.
  20. Thanks for this - loads of help So AITSLs have been done and our English test has been done... now just need to find a decent place to live and apply to. Loved WA - may need to book a holiday now to have a look around other states! Want somewhere similar to WA - modern!
  21. I'm trying to find out how long the "time" is?! Is it different for different states - or is it all 5 years for the 491?
  22. When was it taken off the list?! :-( WA is really where we want to go. Lots of friends in WA. Family are in NSW but really don't want to move over there as pretty old school.
  23. My wife and I are two teachers who started the AITSL process and TOEFL process back in September. My wife's AITSL has come through as passed (she's the main applicant as shes been teaching for 15 years) and has also completed the TOEFL English test. My AITSL wanted further info which I have now provided and I should hear from them in early April/late March. My question is we were thinking of applying on the 491 and really want to head to WA to teach, however I'm now hearing we cant do this now? Please can someone confirm and if true what other options do we have?
