  1. No harm in doing both.. although I don’t think 80 points will be enough for 189
  2. Hey Mate, First of all, take a look at this website. Is this your job? https://www.visabureau.com/australia/australia-jobs/fitter-jobs-in-australia If so.. it’s on the skilled list, so that’s one hurdle done. 70 points isn’t really enough for permanent residency with something called a 189 visa, so you’d be looking at state sponsorship. Your best bet is to find a migration agent (google free assessment) and Most migrating agents will let you know your chances. What are those 70 points made up of? Maybe we can help further? Cheers, Dave
  3. Unfortunately not. If your nomination and visa isn’t sorted by day 90, you’d have to leave. However if they were approved nominees before then it should be quick.. days even
  4. Ok thanks very much. Thing is I’ve been an expat in Thailand for years.. getting things like this will be a nightmare. Is it necessary seeing as the occupation isn’t even relevant?
  5. It’s definitely the ICPC you need unfortunately
  6. Hey all, I have just completed my application and put my employment history in for the last 10 years: All my previous roles were marked a not claiming points as I hadn't worked in my nominated occupation for more than 3 years overseas. It's now asking for evidence of all of this. I don't even know if half the companies exist anymore so how do I get evidence from those? Also my statement of service says my termination date was 1st July 2019 but I started my new job in Australia in June 2019 and that's because I am a teacher and it was the school holidays so started/migrated to Australia during the school holidays. Any advice is greatly appreciated
  7. Congratulations, how long was the wait? Thank you I submitted my EOI 6th December Got pre-invite yesterday. Sent all docs through yesterday and got offical invitation today. Just competed it in immiaccount. A waiting game now
  8. Friends of mine moved 7 months after and it wasn’t an issue. Better to be settled with jobs than to move blindly
  9. You need it from the Queensland college of teachers. It’s from the UK for Australia. If that makes sense So essentially you need to choose Australia
  10. They replied. Fine to leave in all accounts
  11. Hi all, I got my pre-invite today from QLD (very excited). It states under the settlement funds: "Mandatory Cash Component - $5000" "Other Funds Component - $10,000" "Total Funds Required - $15,000" My partner and I are onshore candidates - I already work in my occupation. My Australian current account has $3000 My partner's has $1000 We have a joined account overseas which has $15000 in there My questions are: 1. Can we show all 3 or is it better to clump them all into one account? 2. As our "other" components are cash is this ok? We own a house outright in Thailand but not selling it and therefore won't be money we will use in QLD. 3. Does it matter all accounts are not purely in my name (partner is on the visa with me) Any advice is greatly appreciated
  12. Yeah you need the ICPC (international one). Takes around 3 weeks
  13. Yes. A friend of mine is doing the same! As long as your course is officially at Gatton campus
  14. You know the test certificate expires after 3 years? You’d have to take it again before you submit your EOI
  15. 1. I wouldn’t even bother with the first company. 6 months isn’t really going to make a difference and if it’s hard to get confirmation you worked there it isn’t worth it. 2. HR of any company will confirm your statement of service regardless if they know you or not. 3. I’d presume level 8 as 7 is a Bachelor level. No one can really predict your chances without knowing your points. Cheers!
  16. Unfortunately I think you need to give up. They explicitly state 1 year prior to lodging the 491. What about another state? Does your job have offices somewhere else?
  17. Initially nothing.. but you have to meet their criteria or you won’t get the full invitation so apply
  18. Hey all, I submitted my 491 a week and a half ago.. I know it’s still early but wondered if my chances were good and or if there was anyway I could improve.. I’m onshore on a 482 visa. I’ve been in my nominated job (Secondary School Teacher) here for 6 months in a regional QLD area. My contract and visa expires April 2022. My points equate to 85, including state sponsorship. I have superior English and my partner had competent English. I’m 32 and have 3 years in my profession (including the 6 months here). I work for the Dept. of Education, Queensland who wrote a letter to Queensland migration outlining they are fine for me to apply for this visa as they currently sponsor my 482. Thanks
  19. It’s difficult to tell at this stage. All states are giving priority to 491 so you may want a few months. However, Victoria do invite teachers more than any other state so that’s a bonus!
  20. You’d have to go through the migration agent to track
  21. No, he needs to live in the regional area too
  22. This is very true!! Ask me in a years time, I may have the marriage, kids, the whole shabang
