  1. That was our city council as well. But moved to Vic.
  2. For the Identity declaration you will need a passport size photo. Scan it and use it to upload on the section asking for it. We used our kindy teacher to vouch and sign the form 1195
  3. Happy Sunday! We applied citizenship two days ago, Oh my God! My hubby is lucky to have me as his wife aka "personal assistant" haha..took me so long to submit both of our applications...but I nailed it! Have a great weekend ahead. Council: Maroondah City Council in Vic
  4. There is a section of the form when doing the paper application (don't know if online is the same bc I havent applied as yet..still waiting 7 days to be able to) that reads "have you ever been known or are known by a different name"? And you should answer yes to it. With and without surname. Also for the Australian police check, it asks the same. I too have the same issue, on my US passport I have one surname and on my chilean passport I have two surnames, so I report both known names Nora, X Y and Nora X. So today I received my National Police Certificate and it reads something like: "No criminal records under the name of Nora X who has advised that is also known as Nora X Y" Hope it helps! Do what you think is right. Remember that for most of our "official paper work" while in Au (centrelink, visas, etc) we use foreign passport as an ID, So it does make sense to report the two names. N
  5. Supposly you are not a citizen until you attend your ceremony.
  6. Sorry for asking, do we need to complete form 1300t? We are doing online app. Thanks, Nora
  7. Yes great tip. I got all my paperwork scanned and translated (same docs I used for the 186visa) . All I need is to take the Identity form to my GP so he can sign. I will do that next week. Just started filling the applications..but got stuck on page 3/36 because we still do not meet the time in Au to apply. Thanks again @KazBaker N
  8. @KazBaker Hey mate!! Haha glad to see you here!!!!!! Can't wait to start checking for every update on immi...NOT LOL. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!
  9. Omg! And the madness will begin in 17 days. We will apply for citizenship on the 30/Jan! Woo-Hoo! @Hex See you here! N
  10. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/tools/residence-calculator Check when you can apply here
  11. Congrats! All this info is on department of home affairs. You can check when you are eligle to apply for citizenship by using their tool. Furthermore, you can see the waiting times for Centrelink programs. Havr a browse and You'll see most of the answers to your questions. Go to your nearest Centrelink to find out more.
  12. Just check the centrelink website...have a browse. Depending on your income, you may be eligible for tax family benefit part B (once you've become Permanent Resident; meaning it doesn't matter how long you've been living in Au, your inmigration status must be "Permanent Resident") For Tax Fam Benefit part A you must wait a year from the date your visa got approved to be elegible. This has come to effect from 1 Jan 2019. All those who got their permanent visa after this date shall comply with waiting times. If you have doubts just go to a Centrelink Centre and ask.
  13. And you won't. Once you become PR there are certain waiting periods to have access to certain centrelink programs. Check the Department of Human Services for more info. So just hang in there.
  14. No scam at all. The price you pay is just for them to check if you are elegible for the PR. It is not like if you are paying the grant of the visa. You are paying for the service of them checking your elegibility. As you know, you are still within the estimated time frame. You've been waiting 8months now, and the waiting time can either go up or down without further notice. Yes, It is hard..but at the end of the day, nobody is forcing us to stay here. I bet one income in Australia is way better than two in our home countries..and more for thus of us coming from HR countries. It's the price we have to pay to be in this beautiful country.
  15. Once you become PR, you have 6 months from the issued date to get an Australian driving license. First step is to get your overseas license verified, and then do the sittings tests (computer and hazard) and last the practical test. Check with your state authority (VicRoads, Qld department of transport, etc). To get the green medicare card..just walk in to yoir local Centrelink with your photo ID, and visa grant notice. In regards to private health insurance..its up to you. whether you'd like to be treated at a public or private hospital. Check the pros and cons woth your health provider. Good luck and congrats. N
  16. Immi website states otherwise. I would go safe and try to score 4.5 at least on each band. Honestly, some people are just too lazy to look for info on immi home affairs website. Many of the answers are there. Here is the reference, do what suits. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/functional-english
  17. If your visa application is refused while you are on a bridging visa type B, that means you cannot enter Australia again. Just keep in mind that a Bridging visa whether A or B comes in effect when your previous visa (457,etc) has expired. Therefore, they give you a bridging visa so you can stay lawfully while you await for an outcome on your 186 visa application. Look at the T&C's of the visa type.
  18. Peoplw know because they get told by the employer and/or migration agent. The only application you can track is your visa app; by opening an account on Immi using your TRN number and your personal details. Good luck!
  19. Check mesaages. What does it read next to your name and date of birth? Does it say Granted?
  20. If you held or were granted a 457 visa before the changes made in April of 2017, you shall complete the 2 years working for same employer to apply for 186 TRT visa. If you were granted or applied for 457 after the announced changes; the requirement is 3 years. Check the immi website for more info.
