  1. I'm in the same boat and it has been over a year now, so let's see. The new rules in November will certainly help but then again, it will help everyone the same way.
  2. Hi Raul,

Could you help me understand this better, please?

One of the changes to the points test in November 2019 will include:

    • 10 points for applicants with a skilled spouse or de facto partner (under 45 with Competent English, suitable skills assessment and with an occupation on the same skilled occupation list). Currently 5

Does this mean the main applicant's spouse must also have both her education and work experience validated by the assessing authority (VETASSES)?

Also, for a spouse is IELTS general accepted?

    Thanks in advance.

    Pete

      Yes.

"Also, for a spouse is IELTS general accepted?"

Depends on the occupation and skills assessing Authority.

  3. He was indeed. Sorry, it wasn't the 190, it was 189!! Even better eh.
  4. Good luck with that. I applied early June, hoping to receive an invite in by December. A friend of mine with 85 points got his in 3'weeks.
  5. How long did it take you to get your invite for 190 NSW?
  6. Thanks VERYSTROMY, the main idea was to speed up the process once I get an invite. If that's not the case then there is no point doing this now.
  7. I know there is a provision to get the HAP id and the medical tests even before an invitation. I also understand the risk here of not having enough lead time once I get the visa which is fine since I plan to take off as soon as I get my 190. The main issue is 190 does not show inh the HAP ID form.
  8. Hi guys, I'm trying to get my HAP id so I can get my medicals done before I receive the invite. However, in the online form visa category 190 is NOT present in the drop-down list. Can someone advise how do I get a HAP ID for visa category 190? Thanks Pete
  9. Hi guys, I applied under 221112 Management Accountant occupation with 80 points on July 10th 2018. Does anyone have any idea how long would it take to get a response from NSW? Thanks P
  10. Ahh... I'm in South West London (Hammersmith). It's a bit of a headache to ride in London that's if you don't find your motorcycle stolen in the morning. If comfort and a non-sore ass are your top criteria then you need to try putting a gel seat or even better get an adventure bike. Sadly, the seats for most motorcycles have a form over function design. The S1000XR is nice two up but I know the first edition rattled your bones with the vibration.
  11. That's confidence alright! I got a Peugeot 125cc to begin with here in the UK ? Smart thinking Leigh. Always ATGATT. My scarred legs are proof I learnt the hard (and unwise) way while riding in India. I've wisened up now and got some good gear to go with my next bike. My heart says Aprilia Tuono Factory, my head says KTM SA1290 since I love off-roading and long trips. Where are you put up in the UK?
  12. I'll be following this thread quite closely. Been a biker for 15 years but will resume once I move to Aus, although still not sure where that will be yet.
  13. So I've finally taken the plunge and applied for both 189 and 190 with 75 & 80 points respectively. I'm a management accountant. Based on what I've read in these forums so far I'm hoping for an invite for 190 by end of 2018, a Christmas gift perhaps. Looking at ISCAH's estimates I'll only get an invite for a 189 post-July 2019 which isn't bad either, allows me to save up some more money.
  14. Aren't they obligated to live in the nominated region for at least 24 months?
  15. Guys, Is the only difference between a 190 and 189 is the 2 year clause where the applicant has to live in the nominated region? Do both the visas allow one to live indefinitely in Aus?
  16. That's a very good point you've made and it did cross my mind as well. My points will hold good for next two years but yes with visas it's always a gamble. A bird in hand it worth two in the bush. Since the 190 ties you to a place for only two years it may not be such a big deal overall. May I ask what's your score and occupation category?
  17. Thanks happyisland. My dilemma is if I get the 190 sponsorship from a state I'm not interested in moving to.
  18. Thanks both. Also, suppose I submit an EOI application for both 189 (75 points) and 489 (80 points) and get invited for the 489 first but decided not to pursue it, in that case, would my EOI for 189 still be active/valid?
  19. Thanks for the info verystormy. Do you know how long does one have to wait for a PR under 489,189 and 190?
  20. Hi guys, I recently received my assessment results from CPA Aus and can now begin the application process. Could someone help me with my doubts. I'll be applying under the Management Accountant occupation. 1. Can I apply for 190, 189 and 489 at the time same time? My preference is the 189. 2. What are the timelines for each one? My points for each visa are. 189 - 75 points 489 - 85 points 190 - 80 points Any feedback would be very helpful. Thanks Pete
  21. Apologies for the radio silence. Been made redundant and the timing couldn't have been shittier. Anyway, I do OK in London, one of the main reasons for moving to Aus is to start a family there and the weather is a big big factor. I wouldn't want my kids stuck indoors half the year. I've been looking at some finance managerial roles and even the simplest ones need a CPA or CA. Those are big demands and if that's the general case then I'll have to rethink this whole thing. The other place I have on my mind is Perth. Although it's far away from other cities, I prefer the laid-back culture.
  22. Hi Angjol, From what I've understood talking to CPA reps and also from their website (and the other accounting bodies) they have clearly listed the subjects that you should have covered in your degree. I think even if the degree is Aus equivalent if you haven't covered the mandatory subjects they will mention this in your evaluation and you will not get the green light until then. I'm in the midst of this process so some more experienced folks can confirm if I'm right.
  23. This is a very standard format, most companies use the same. Make sure it clearly mentions your start and end date, role, part-time or full-time role, no. of hours worked per week, gross salary and your title. HR will rarely provide a list of responsibilities but your hiring manager could help with this. Use the job description for your role and any additional tasks that you perform but aren't listed in the job spec. HR should be able to provide the job spec. Hope this helps. I managed to get this done in only 2 out of the 5 companies I have worked for. For the other 3, prepared a statutory declaration with my responsibilities listed. Hope this helps
