  1. Hi, is there any overseas migrants in NSW who knows the easiest and quickest route to obtaining your gas fitting licence. I have worked for BRITISH Gas for 12 years, lived in Sydney for 3 years and worked under a company's licence as a trades assistant, but was doing gas service work, on hot water heaters, boilers fires etc I've recently moved jobs for a Melbourne based commerical gas service company, and they require me to have my gas fitting licence. I've tried already numerous times with skills certified and tafe however there is always goal posts the get moved and forms that need filling in that I can't as.dont have the evidence. Anyone in a similar situation? Please any advice would be greatly appreciated
  2. Hi have you tried a company in sydney called Comcater?
  3. Hey guys, I've got an interview with Rinnai a major hot water company and they've requested I have a medical pre employment, is this normal? What exactly is involved, has anyone had any similar experiences? Thanks John

  5. Hi guys, can someone please help. I am a gas fitter from the UK with 12 years experience, my skilled migrant PR visa 190 was granted in August last year. Part of the process was to send my qualifications etc to the TRA for a skills assessment. I had a successful outcome and was granted PR status. However I was not advised or aware of an OSTSR, that I now need In order to allow me to work under supervision within the gas / Plumbing industry. Can you please help or advise me how I go about getting this please. Thanks
  6. Yea looks that way, it's a nightmare, why ask for skilled migrants then make it almost impossible for them to work when they get here...surely recognition of skills via certificates, references, employment statements should be suffice...I appreciate the regs are different but you should still be given a provisional and attend training for regs etc
  7. Thanks for that, I had a phone call this afternoon from the master plumbers association, I apparently can use RPL pathway and obtain a cert iii in gas fitting, I would require some elective training and assessments but looks like I should be ok, after reading up on the Australian Standards and getting some experience under my belt
  8. Hi verystormy, new fairtrading is the licencing body, they have told me I need equlivavent certificate in Australia e.g. I have NVQ level 3 and not the Australian equalivant cert...can I work for another company, under their licence even tho i do not have a tradesman licence or certificate (which I can't get due to not having the offshore skills record)...can't believe I've been granted a skilled migrant PR visa and I can't work in my profession
  9. Hi guys, hope someone can help..I was granted a skilled migrant PR visa subclass in gas fitting in August 2017...part of the visa application I had to have my skills assessed for migration purposes to Trades Recognition Australia, I had to send copies of all my certs, employment evidence such as contract payslips etc...I was granted a successful skills assessment and subsequently able to apply for the skilled visa....this was granted, without the need for a practical skills assessment In the uk...my dilemma is that I cannot obtain a gas fitting licence in nsw without a offshore techinal skills record (practical assessment pass) will Any one please help and advise me what or who I need to speak to....I've tried contacting fair trading nsw and TRA who both pass me back to one another...please help someone...Thanks

  19. Hi there, we are in Ashfield inner west near to new town. What about u guys
  20. It's the same conditions....my friend obtained a 189 PR visa 3 years ago. Didn't sit a practical or written skills exam (for his trade-gasfitter/plumber) the only thing he had to do extra was the ielts exam as he didn't have required points.
  21. Then y did i get my 190 PR visa without a practical and written exam. In order to gain the qualification to work on your own in Australia u need to do one it's called certificate iii ...NOT FOR THE VISA. ONLY PROVE YOUR LEGIT BY SENDING EVIDENCE TO TRADES RECOGNISION AUSTRALIA IN CANBERA
