  1. I'm so sorry for this frustration! Hang in there! I'm in the assessment phase myself now, and all of my documents were sent over in the exact same package, however, they said they didn't get my cover letter nor passport photo (even though they were in there together!). Now I had to pay to expedite ship them over there, yet again. When I called about it though I was nervous that other things might be missing if those somehow got lost, so the woman went through my file and told me everything she had. It might be worth it to call and do the same just to make sure some of your letters weren't misplaced? Good luck!
  2. I am still on the skills assessment with ANMAC portion, however, and wondering for the EOI and invitations- do you get to see where you are ranked? So if they say they are inviting 1250 on a certain day can you see if with your score you should fall into the 1250? Thanks for helping me understand this very stressful process!
  3. Hi all, I am already in the mix of applying for the skilled migrant visa, as seen with the ANMAC application. However, my boyfriend (an Australian citizen) and I got engaged last week. Now as my fiance will they think this is weird that I am applying as skilled migrant instead of partner? Still hoping to go for skilled migrant as it seems to get approved faster and cost less (and that I've done the english tests, medical evals, etc already). Thanks so much for your help and advice! Lindsey
  4. Hi Richard,

I recently got some info from your about the ANMAC processing times, but wondering if you may have advice on a new question. I am already in the mix of applying for the skilled migrant visa, as seen with the ANMAC application. However, my boyfriend (an Australian citizen) and I got engaged last week. Now as my fiance will they think this is weird that I am applying as skilled migrant instead of partner? 5. @Richard Gregan and @lam351444 thanks so much for the responses! Does the 3 weeks include reviewing your letters of reference and figuring out how many years of credit you will be given?
  6. Hi @Richard Gregan, Thanks so much for the response. So you're saying that the only way to get 10 or more points is based off of years of experience that ANMAC assesses through your letters of reference? When you get the ANMAC determination letter do they tell you how many years they are giving you credit for? I currently have 8.5, but am applying as a perioperative nurse, and am worried that during the time I did travel nursing (1 year) I wasn't scrubbing (still circulated), while working in labor and delivery setting/labor and delivery OR setting, and that they might not give me full points for that year. (Really hoping for the 15!) Do they tell you your points on your letter of determination? I have 2 degrees- one bachelor (communication) and masters (in nursing)- do they ever give you more points for more degrees or only for the one relevant to the field you're applying for? Finally, as @RedgieA mentioned earlier- this line under the points based system: An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation. 10 -what type of things does this consist of? I currently hold a certificate as a Clinical Nurse Leader that was awarded by taking a very difficult test after my masters- would that be relevant? Should I submit that to ANMAC? Thanks so much for your help!
  7. Hey @snifter Thanks for the response! After looking into it I am going forward with the skilled migrant visa due to cost and speed (and also way less paperwork since I am already licensed). Thank you so much for your advice!
  8. I'm so sorry I'm still confused. Are the 10 points coming from the years of skilled employment or you also just get 10 points for finishing the ANMAC skills assessment? (If so that would be great news for an extra 10 points!) Or is ti coming from this line: An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation? Thank you so much for your help!
  9. Hi there, Thanks for the response! I'm already licensed with AHPRA so only need to do the modified skills assessment. Is that what you did as well because you were licensed, or you got licensed in the process? Online it's saying the current turn around is only 3 weeks for the modified so fingers crossed (although one of the jurisdictions I was licensed in is taking forever to send my letter of good standing ), so I can't even submit yet. Thanks for helping to keep me informed! Lindsey
  10. Hi @d_rabadia, Do you mind me asking when you submitted for your skills assessment? And how long that took prior to the EOI? Were you already licensed in Australia at the time? Thank you so much for your help! Lindsey
  11. Hi Redgie! Thanks so much for your response! Did the ANMAC certificate state how many points you had based off of your years of experience/education/etc, and then you submit the points with your EOI? How did you find out your official points (versus me just calculating what I think I have)? Also, I am already licensed in Australia, so I just have to do the modified assessment. Do you know how long the assessments took to hear back from with ANMAC prior to your certificate? Thanks so much!
  12. Hi all! I'm just now doing the ANMAC assessment process. Once finished did ANMAC tell you what your points were with your letter? Just wondering (other than me reading and assigning myself points) how/when you get your official number. Also, if taking the English language test to boost up points do I submit my scores when applying for the EOI? Finally, after submitting an EOI I am confused about the mention of seeing the rounds and the amount of people waiting etc. Is this shown to you once submitting the EOI? Congratulations fellow nurses! Hope we all cross paths in Oz! Thank you for any and all help in advance!
  13. Hi There! I'm just getting started with the visa process as a nurse. I'm already registered with AHPRA, but now trying to make the move. I'm confused about which visa to state that I am applying for based off of the descriptions- the 189 stated for NZ citizens, and then I think it was the 487 for skilled migrants. Were you on the 189? If you don't mind I'm going to ask you a few questions since youre a nurse who has already been through the process: Did you do my health declarations or did you wait for them to request a health check? Did you do your police report initially and submit it with your application, or did you wait? For the english language test- did you submit your results directly from the testing center? If so, was it easy to figure out how to do this once registered? Thank you so much for any and all help! Hoping to have a swift return of everything to be with my partner sooner rather than later!
  14. Thank you so much for the info! While waiting for the visa were you allowed to visit? My partner is Australian and is going to head back before me to get life settled, but if it would possibly take 12 months I'd obviously like to see him during that time (although I'm praying for a quick turn around like yours ). Thank you so much for the help!
  15. Hi everybody, I'm new to the skilled visa forum and would love any and all advice. I am a nurse (in the United States- we don't have a group like this to reach out to ) and I'm already registered with AHPRA. My partner is Australian and we want to move back to Australia this year. I was going to apply for the partner visa, but due to the cost and processing times I was advised that the skilled migrant visa might be the faster and more efficient route. That being said I have a few questions and would love any and all help. Can I travel to and from Australia while waiting for approval? Do I have to be outside of Australia when approved? After being approved was there a certain amount of time that you had to be in Australia by? And finally for nursing.... is it the general skilled visa migration visa 476/887? Sorry I'm asking all of the beginner questions. I found these answers to be much more readily available on the partner visa portion of the immigration website (and maybe that means they are stricter while verifying partner visas? but I have no idea really). Thank you all so much for your help! Lindsey
  16. For anybody who has been approved- once approved did you have to migrate in a certain period of time in order for it to remain valid? Thanks everyone!
  17. We have been together for a little over 3, so sadly not the 4, but yes do have documentation with leases, bills, etc for more than 12 months. We really just came to this decision about a week ago and I have been reading and reading, however it hadn't occurred to me to even look into the skilled migration. I will now definitely check that out. Also, when we go to Oz in December together I think what you said makes a lot of sense to open a bank account together there that we can both contribute too to show the ongoing connections to one another outside of phone records, etc. I am very nervous about choosing to take this time apart, but we are in the US and he has had the roughest time here with work. He goes to a million interviews and they tell him he's the best candidate etc but that they are not doing visas due to our current administration's instability on visas. His current workplace is disrespectful, underpaid, and borderline abusive all because he is on a visa and it is breaking him down. In the US I can't keep him here unless we are married, and as mentioned earlier we plan to do that next year in Oz. We already had flights booked home for Christmas, so decided he would stay while I finished out my workplace contract. Do you think this will be held against us when it comes time to apply if I continue to go down the partner visa path? Thank you so much for such a detailed response.
  18. Thank you so much for the responses! Does the bridging visa also have a possible 13 month wait time for approval or are you automatically on it while waiting to find out if you got the partner visa (as soon as the tourist visa ends)? Although, it sounds like the offshore is possibly the safer option. We are also considering getting married (paperwork wise at least) with a formal ceremony to follow in Australia next year. Is having a marriage license finished a more secure route than just being engaged? Thank you so much for the help!
  19. Hi Guys, My partner and I currently live together and he is going to move back to Australia (he's a citizen). I'm going to stay put for a few months while he gets himself settled and gets started with a job etc. The plan is for me to move over next year, once I finish out my contract. I'm a nurse and already registered with AHPRA so think I will have work options upon going as well. Anyhow, long story short I'm debating whether to go to Australia on a tourist visa and apply for the partner while in Australia and/or to apply from here. My concerns are that I don't want to be away from my partner for possibly 13+ months, if it ends up taking that long. However, I am nervous that if I apply from within Australia I will also have to go possibly 13+ months without working while waiting for it to get approved. If I do decide to apply from outside of Australia am I allowed to go visit? If so, what happens if I were to be approved for my visa while visiting? Thank you all for the help!
