  1. Oh no, what are you going to do now? That's similar to my partner, although his qualification is Maths with statistics his roles have all be data/information analytics. Not sure if we will be able to go down the mathematics route as that is still on the list. He would get the degree points we're just not sure if he would get the skills assessment match! I read that AU universities offer a data scientist course and I think they have students graduating this year...so potentially statistician was removed as they think grads could fulfill the gaps in the market? That's me just guessing though!
  2. Sorry, should've been clearer. Statistician was previously eligible for PR via state sponsorship and now we can no longer find it on the short term or medium list likewise the Anzsco website no longer shows statistician as available for state sponsorship.
  3. My partners started the visa process (still early days) under statistician code. It looks like this occupation has been removed completely from all lists although isn't specially called out anywhere. It wasn't shortlisted for removal but it's gone! We've called our agent to check and waiting to hear back for confirmation! One thing after another so far, my occupation was removed in April so it feels like we're back to square one again. My partners degree is in Maths so potentially still an option to apply under this occupation. Does anyone know how close a match the occupation description needs to be for a skills assessment pass? Maths/stats both fall under the Actuary code therefore majority of the 'main role duties' are the same for both but the main one is slightly different I believe. Hopefuly hear back from our agent soon and we will ask them the above any advice/information is appreciated though! Thanks lauren
  4. Ah okay, that's that option ruled out then! In that case, I would investigate IT routes (where you could use your existing degree to get 15 points as you would then only need the minimum they would take for experience points). Appreciate it wouldn't be easy walking into a job without experience in the U.K. & you may have to start at the bottom however it looks like it would still give you options for both a 190 or a 189 visa (as it stands today) & you would only need the experience rather than still needing to get the qualification also. You could find out the most in demand/shortages in IT & even do some shorter online courses if you need more specific qualifications to get into that field. We looked at a similar path for my hubby. So did lots of research. We thought we had bit a brick wall when they updated the CSOL as both mines and husbands occupations were removed. We read some of the skills assessment requirements for other occupations & turns out his experience is a really close match (as is his degree) to an occupation on the list we hadn't even considered matching against. Definitely worth doing the research into the specifics Or what about a 1 year post grad in teaching? I'm rambling now...apologies if you've already considered all of the above!
  5. I have no idea if this is a realistic option or not for you & your wife but couldn't you look into a student visa for either yourself or your wife? It seems you're willing to retrain/studying if it gives you the opportunity to emigrate so why not look into studying in austrailia? You could still apply for a course why is more likely (obviously no guarantees) to result in a positive perm residency visa application once qualified? Although not sure how this would work in terms of not having the relevant experience after qualifying to pass a skills assessment. From what I've read you can do a joint application with you're wife and I think you can both work (although hours are likely to be restricted) So you would probably need to be fairly confident you could support yourselves finicially (particularly whilst starting a family). at least if you're in the country you're more likely to build up a list of useful contacts etc again, just to point out I am in no way an expert-but I went through the same process as you recently, stacks of research to try & work out options for emigrating Lauren
  6. Good luck! We've just appointed an agent & my husband will need to sit IELTS soon (in Edinburgh also)
  7. Oh well, looks like a 190 visa is out of the question for us now too as both of our occupations were axed from the list today
  8. Oh no, both mines (HR Advisor) and husbands (intelligence officer) occupations have been removed from the list today. Wish we had started looking at emigrating sooner, looks like it will be near impossible for us with today's changes. It states a different list/criteria for 186 visas (employer nominated scheme) does anyone know what this criteria/list is or am I getting mixed up? There doesn't seem to be any other route in for us now Absolutely gutted!
  9. That's helpful thank you! I think we might have to open up to the idea of Adelaide or something as not sure what will happen longer term with WA state sponsorship.
  10. Hi, new on here but looking for advice/info. My husband & I have our hearts set on emigrating & just about to start english tests etc. Neither of our professions are on the SOL so we would need employer/state sponsored visas however we ideally want to emigrate to Perth and I know it's on the downturn with unemployment etc rising. My husband has 15 years experience as a analyst/principle analyst (data science/analytics), we can see plenty of roles in WA of this type but we've no idea/concept of how likely he would be to find employer sponsorship. I have 10 years experience in Human Resources (shared services). We have family and friends in Perth otherwise we would probably look at Melbourne/Sydney due to job prospects. Any advice/help? Any recommended migration agents in WA? thanks
