  1. So sorry about that Yes I had done it indeed. I contacted my MA quickly and nothing needs to be added to my file from the recent changes. That's why that whole thing is stressful - making those retro-active changes for people that have already waited so long...
  2. This info comes directly from the department of immigration and given it's in an email - I would think it is pretty accurate Thanks for your encouragements - I had your state of mind before - especially when I was early in the process and thought my file would be picked up quickly because it was straight forward, complete and sponsored by a prestigious company. It all changed when I got stuck too and now I understand how it feels. It's really not a good space to be in. And with all due respect, it does not help to be told to be patient because clearly we all have been patient already I respect your assumptions and beliefs but having been here for over a year and having looked at the patterns - especially for certain occupations such as Customer Manager, Marketing Specialist, Cooks - I can assure that applications for certain occupations are definitely slower no matter how straight forward the cases are. The main reason being that these occupations are in the top 5 of the most applied for and are not necessarily identified as "needed" in Australia. I saw a few Marketing Specialists before me being stuck in the process. They were sponsored by huge businesses. One of them (Lizzi) had studied in Oz, and had her whole work experience in Oz as well. Definitely nothing complex about her file. Her file got approved after 13 months while she got told it would take 4 to 6 months. Regarding the March 2017 application, that's good for the applicant. I do not think that their application was less complex than any other that is stuck since 2016 - they just got lucky or there might have been some kind of special circumstances we do not know about. I noticed that some aspect of the process does appear quite random. I also heard that some companies seem to have better contacts than others... Not sure how true/believable that is though... I think it is important for people who are stuck in the system to have a space to express their emotions without feeling inadequate. Here, there is a community of people that understands how it feels. At least here, people can find a comforting space. This is an extremely stressful situation to be stuck without any possible status update or communication. This is even more stressful to be stuck now because the Australian Government is constantly making quite drastic short-sighted retro-active changes. The climate is also pretty negative towards immigrants right now. I am thankful to have supporting people around me, recently my partner PT (originally from the UK) told him that when he applied, several years ago, his file took 18 months (and I think it was transition stream). It was a pretty straight forward application but it got stuck. My gut feeling says that he got stuck because the Fitness Instructor occupation was not super needed in OZ - I actually think it's not even on any list anymore now. Anyways, big hug for everyone who has waited so long already. I really hope the 2015/2016 files get all processed quickly so we can all go on with our lives.
  3. The timeline if taken from the nomination date. Most people provide both nomination and application at the same time
  4. The article is mostly about the lists. It is true that many people who got - or will still get PR - for certain occupations would not qualify under the new rules. However, keep in mind that the new rules and new lists apply to applications lodged after a certain date. If you are very nervous, again, it will certainly help to get in touch with your MA. Many of us are just applicants and do not understand the exact details of each cases. When it comes to News articles, try to take them with a grain of salt as they are mostly written by journalists who may not be Migration Experts either. I must admit that I am so glad I took a MA. It really helps to manage the stress. All the best!
  5. The changes are here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/1-july-2017-changes# Just have a look at them and contact you MA to have peace of mind

  8. Hi @Bellabonkers - So it turns out my MA had already provided these documents when they lodged my file last year. So I am not sure of what they consist of exactly - my feedback would be to call immi directly and check if you need to provide anything else. You do not have an MA so they will surely tell you if something is missing.
  9. Oh wait - your MA is saying something different than immi. From my experience, I would trust your MA. If your nomination is in process it means it is open - logically it should not take too long now I guess your MA will update you soon. Basically, right now, they are checking your nomination, once approved, they will check your application. The 1 year+ is pretty standard for Marketing Specialist DE - even it is frustrating I would not worry about this. Best of luck!
  10. Hey Sansha - You can import your application in your immi account. Once done, you will be able to see which documents have been uploaded. 2 more months for people in May 2016. I am getting seriously depressed about that news
  11. Yeah - at this pace, they will open April 2017 before they have finished April 2016... This is by far the most unbelievably disfunctional administrative situation I have ever experienced in my life.
  12. Well - I would not change my political views based on recent changes... Does anybody remember this: http://www.smh.com.au/national/abbott-vows-to-boost-457-visas-20120426-1xoah.html http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/abbott-call-to-ease-457-visa-limits/news-story/49a3cda14ae1d3b2528233e666f34fe7 "TONY Abbott wants to lift the limits on business and skilled migrants entering Australia, declaring that workers on skilled visas would become the "mainstay" of our immigration intake. Defying union concerns and accusing the Gillard government of not having the best immigration policy for Australia, the Opposition Leader wants to lift the limits on 457 visas granted to skilled workers for temporary work for up to four years. Mr Abbott says workers on 457 visas are "the best immigrants", who contribute immediately to the economy and provide the best long-term workers when they convert their visas to permanent residency. The current skilled migrant intake is 125,850 people." "Mr Abbott argues that turning skilled temporary visa workers into full-time residents is best because it "helps Australia to be more prosperous and productive and the best way for an immigrant to settle in is to work"."
  13. Hi Everyone - I thought I'd share the below. The department is still processing April 2016. As per spreadsheet, they are processing April since mid-March for those who are interested.
  14. I will not answer because you quote me but address several people here and you also address different problematics. From my perspective, people should be given as many options as possible because everyone is different, has different circumstances and will make different choices based on these circumstances. Regarding your comment on my decision to lodge comments or not, I will use my freedom of speech and will continue lodging comments if I feel like it, as far as I know I did not insult anybody. Have a nice week!
  15. I am not a migration professional so I can't guarantee that my interpretation is completely right. That being said, if you are a native English speaker, you should not need to go through English tests. Regarding "Genuine Need"and "Nominee to be identified", I think that's for the employer to provide for the nomination. Does your employer have a MA? If your employer does not have a MA, I guess the next solution would be to call the immigration department on Monday to clarify. I have asked my MA, so I can also try to provide some info once she comes back to me - hopefully on Monday.
  16. I would recommend everyone to read this: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/1-july-2017-changes# I have reached out to my MA regarding the Genuine need and identity parts. I am travelling on BVB next week, so I want to make sure that the addtional needed docs are in the file to avoid refusal while overseas. The requirements changes around English and Skills assessments will also be of interest for people here...
  17. Hey guys, the following link apply to 457 and DE 186: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/combined-stsol-mltssl
  18. A friend of mine left a few weeks after he got his PR. he knew he would leave the employer and had applied to other jobs during the process. He got a job offer a couple of months before the visa got approved and accepted it when he got the visa. I personally don't find it ethical but it looks like he did not get in any troubles.
  19. I have a question for you: in terms of senator, would you simply email the senator of the party you support? If I understand well, we do not have a local Senator, we just have a bunch of senators representing our State. Just wondering what's the most effective way to convince additional people.
  20. I have read posts of people having done it. It does not hurt to try, I mean, you have been super patient!
  21. Thanks for this too. That confirms my impressions.
  22. Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me - everything makes much more sense to me now Do we know the position of Xenophon and Hinch on the matter?
