  1. We shall see if the ALP politicians were more diligent indeed. I found the Prime Minister reaction surprising too - with all due respect. The separation of powers is quite a sensitive topic in any democracy so it feels a bit awkward to see him almost championing for an exception for a member of his own majority. The concept of mateship actually came to my mind when I was watching the Prime Minister talking. I sometimes feel that the concept of mateship in Australia tends to encourage unconscious bias at the detriment of fairness and diversity.
  2. The lack of a control system suprises me more than the lack of diligence of the candidates and parties. If the constitution forbids dual citizenship for Australia country representatives, I wonder why anyone is allowed to sit any of the chambers, without providing their - and their parents - birth certificates. It might be worth introducing a fine - for both candidate and party - if any irregularities is found for not having done their due diligence.
  3. If you applied for 186 and your 457 has expired, it means that you have now transitioned to Bridging Visa A. You must continue working for the same position and under the same conditions as your 457. Be careful, under Bridging Visa A your can not travel outside of Australia without informing the Department of immigration and getting a Bridging Visa B grant. I have been in this situation: under Bridging Visa A during 5 months and under Bridging Visa B during almost 2 months. If you have a doubt, I would recommend talking to a migration agent. Best of luck.
  4. I do not know the details for all the cases, but I believe that Waters was born in Canada from Australian parents and left when she was less than a year old. She did not know she had automatically acquired the Canadian citizenship. Citizenship laws are different in each country and also change. Nothing to do with intelligence. It is not even a mistake, they just did not know. And even if it was a mistake, people are allowed to make mistake. No need to finger point.
  5. I just read this. One thing I do not understand: why do some senators or representatives step down and other do not? What's the difference between Waters and Joyce? In today's world, it might make sense to revisit the Section 44.
  6. My MA was very good, she is from Fragomen. I had very good experience with Fragomen for 457 as well.
  7. Yes, I was on BVB when my file got approved. I had been on BVA since Mid January 2017. My BVB was approved Mid June 2017 and was valid until September 2017. I went to New Zealand for work in June and I am flying home to France on Friday. My MA was very good and reassured me a lot about the BVB so if you have an MA, I recommend chatting with him/her.
  8. This is definitely an amazing feeling. I wish you the best of luck - I know you have been waiting for a very long time too.

  11. Thank you - I guess by PCC you mean Police Check? If so, my Australian Police Check had expired in April and I renewed it as soon as it expired and my MA uploaded it. My medicals had expired too but they did not request anything.
  12. Hi Everyone, Good news for me My PR has been approved today. I cannot not described how awesome it is!!! Details are in the spreadsheet Marketing Specialist - DE 186 - LR - 1 person on the application Applied June 20 2016 Opened July 20 2017 Approved August 8 2017 No documents requested
  13. I applied June 2016 - onshore 186 DE - Marketing Specialist - Tech Industry - I work in this position since May 2015.
  14. It is unlikely that the changes would apply to applications that are already in the system though
  15. Oh yeah - my MA told me they would only expedite certain occupations (research etc.) Marketing specialists are not a priority at all.
  16. Thank you This is sweet of you. Well we are always more resilient and stronger than we think Seriously, they allocated my file over two weeks ago now and I would be so happy to get some good news before Thursday.
  17. They definitely should be honest about the process I agree. It is very clear to everyone that they are prioritising certain occupations versus others for 186 and 187 visas. It is fair enough but they should just say it.
  18. Well, not sure if that will make you feel better but it does look like they are not approving much at all at the moment...
  19. I am really sorry - I was wondering about you too - It's a transition visa and they asked for docs back in december. Have you reached out?
