I think they must be waiting till the June applications are processed, to start calling the medicals for the July applicants. So far they are still clearing the May 2015 parents isn’t it? Everyone is hoping that things will change now that Dutton is out of immigration . I also hope the new minister understands the link between Migration and economic development.

Exactly Ramot. Not only the main applicant, but everyone over 18 migrating with the skilled migrant is asked to sit for the IELTS. So all this talk about new English exams are all nonsense. It’s just to please the Voters. Everything they say nowadays is focused on the elections.

For those who have done the exam, can you please tell me if the questions were like the 20 sample questions in the citizenship web site or more in detail like specific years and flag signs etc.... I’m not asking for the specific questions but just the back ground. Cheers?

Hi Emmys Gran, There are some other parents who also wish to be added, so I will post an updated list on Friday. My mum has a printout of the list on the fridge door, ready to tick off the lucky ones that have been "called". So I thought there maybe others too....

Hi Geoff and Gill, I'll add you next time I do an update, when there is a change- hopefully someone soon gets an email from Immi . I had you on my list, but got confused at the last minute and thought you were 2014. I know its not a comprehensive list, just a short summary to take a printout and hang on the fridge door.

I think the attraction for those 'switching' to the CPV is this part of the auto reply: "As an alternative, you may wish to 'switch' to a faster visa processing path, the Contributory Parent visa. This has significantly higher application charges, but no queue and is therefore, a much quicker pathway to permanent residence." When they say 'No que' obviously the NCP applicants will want to switch to CPV only to know the length of the que. Not only that They have to pay the application charges twice , at this rate, the 103s may move faster if everyone starts 'switching' to 143. The heads of the DIBP is sending the wrong message and complicating things for themselves (their overworked staff) and everyone else.

Hi Alan, From your experience, Do you know if there is a separate allocation for 143 and 173 applications out of the 7150 places? I thought both were processed together according to date order. Cheers

I am finding it difficult to understand the difference in processing times of the 143 and 173 which was published recently. 143 Contributory Parent (Migrant) 35 Months 39 Months 173 Contributory Parent (Temporary) 41 Months 45 Months If the total Number of 143/173 visas for a year is 7175, then shoudn't they report both visa types together since it is processed in date order? Or are they having seperate Numbers allocated for 173 and 143 out of the 7175? I am totally confused. I'm sure you guys understand the situation better and could enlight me. There are some Oct 2014 parents who have already got case offices this month ( accoding to a south african forum). So are these figures for the NEW applicants , though the DIBP site says current levels ??

Hi, My parents have applied for a 173 Visa in Oct 2015 but wants to swap to a 143 visa now. Has anyone recently done a switch from 173 to 143? And will they loose their place in the que? Any advice wil be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Does anyone know , if applicants who have already obtained more than 6 for IELTS for the English requirement purposes in Skilled PR visa need to resit again ? Of course then the IELTS results will be more than 4 years old. ( outside the validity period of the IELTS).

Actually , most of the parents sponsored for the CPV do have children who are skilled and therefore in the high tax brackets who are ALREADY making a significant contribution to the Australian economy. So isn't it fair to accept their parents ( after paying AUD 50k EACH) without considering them as a liability. The productivity commission report is just a political 'thing' to keep the welfare dependent and low income earners happy or else they won't be able to maintain their allowances.

I am having the same concerns as we also applied for the 173. I am terribly worried that they will increase the 173 to 143 charge. It's so pathetic the way they treat the immigrants parents . After all, everyone knows that the skilled migrants contribute the most in way of taxes. But this government is treating parents like helpless poor beggars. It's so sad.

Hi, This new updrade to the app is great, but I miss the signature line where everybody can enter there lodgement dates etc... Has anyone figured out if there is an option like that on this new version ?
