  1. I don't I'm afraid. From what I've heard adult nurses with top up degrees are sometimes being granted registration with supervision orders...there are loads of other nurses on here though so I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice. Hope it all goes through smoothly for you. I definitely wouldn't look to move in April without AHPRA registration though because you can't work as a nurse without it.
  2. In order to work you'll need to have registration through AHPRA. they didn't ask for any extra information othern than what I sent with my application to them (certified copies of all diploma and degree transcripts, module info, certificates, grades for each module etc). I've heard it can depend on which branch you practice though. AHPRA was really quick (less than a month for me) but again, there doesn't seem to be much consistency.
  3. I'm diploma trained (mental health) and got my Bsc (Hons) in health and Professional Practice last year. I've just got my AHPRA registration in principle but still waiting to hear from ANMAC. have you submitted your applications to them both yet) assuming you have ANMAC but not sure which visa you've gone over on? Also, which branch do you practice?
  4. Not at all...I scared myself googling. I appreciate the responses...just glad you weren't right for my circumstances!
  5. Hi. Just heard back from my migration agent. They've confirmed that ANMAC recognises pre-degree work experience. Thank God! x
  6. will do...AHPRA came back fine (and very quickly!). Will update when I have some news. Thanks again!
  7. OK thanks mgreaves......just have to keep my fingers crossed that ANMAC assessment comes back ok. Waiting to hear back from my migration agent. Any nurses been through the process with ANMAC who can advise please?
  8. Hmmm thanks. The difficulty is that I qualified in September 2010 and have 5.5 years experience working as a qualified nurse. My degree was done alongside working full time in paid employment as a qualified nurse. The degree in this case is separate to my qualification in nursing. Eurgh...so confused...
  9. Hi, so...I was browsing through some forums last night and managed to scare myself. I have submitted my years of experience to my migration agent as 5. I qualified in September 2010 and have worked full time since that point. Some forums are suggesting that the experience will only be accepted from the date of my top up degree, rather than the date I qualified?? Does anybody know for definite whether this is correct? It would seem strange, and I have asked my migration agent to look into it for me, but I was wondering if anybody on here could advise please? Thanks, Lou.x
  10. Whoooooooop! AHPRA registration agreement in principle received. It was submitted on 9th March and I got my email this morning...much quicker than I expected!
  11. Hi. Not sure if anyone's wondering about processing times etc but I'm a diploma registered mental health nurse, with a top up Bsc (Hons) Health and Professional Practice. My AHPRA application was submitted on March 9th and this morning I received notification of my registration in principle. x
  12. Hi! I'm a community mental health nurse in the process of applying for a 189 visa. I'm waiting for a response from ANMAC and I received registration in principle notification from AHPRA this morning. I found IELTS ok..my only advice would be to read some practice pieces beforehand because the points (particularly for the writing) are scored very much on how they want the answer to be presented. Good luck! x
  13. I'm a registered mental health nurse in the process of applying for my 189 visa. We're using Go Matilda and they're fantastic...highly recommended! When we started the process we were advised 8-12 months so September 2016 is probably pushing it but definitely get going with it asap. Good luck. x
  14. I might be wrong but I think it has to be IELTS for ANMAC/AHPRA, but then if you need extra points for the visa you can choose whichever you prefer.
  15. I had to supply certified copies of my certificates, as well as full detailed transcript information which included module details, grades achieved, hours studied, sick leave etc.x
  16. Thanks! Fingers crossed it goes through quite quickly for us all then!x
  17. Hi. Thanks for the reply. On the last page of the application forms on the AHPRA website it states: "The annual registration period for the nursing and midwifery professions is from 1 June to 31 May. If your application is made between 1 April and 31 May this year, you will be registered until 31 May next year". This implies that by registering now, the registration will only be valid until 31 May this year? I think?! Confused!
  18. Hi! I've just (finally) had everything certified, sent ANMAC application off yesterday and completed my application for AHPRA. I was literally about to post it and noticed on the back that the application will only be valid until 31/05/2016. There's no way we'll be there before that date...what happens in these cases? I can't wait because the documents are certified with the date, and I'm keen to start applying for jobs. Any advice massively appreciated!xx
  19. Good point mgreaves. I guess the visa, and ANMAC stuff is the agents domain. As you said, AHPRA registration is nothing to do with the visa. Thanks. x
  20. Never even heard of it?! I think I'm going to email my agent again today and ask for a clear list of everything I'm supposed to be pulling together. It all seems so confusing and nobody seems to have any clear idea on what AHPRA or ANMAC want/need. Can't wait till this bit's all done! Thanks for the heads up!x
  21. Thanks...trying to pull all the stuff together to send off.
  22. I first decided I'd like to make the move at 19 when I met some wonderful friends whilst living in Greece for two years. That was 16 years ago now. Since then I met Ross (14 years ago), got married (10 years ago), qualified as a mental health nurse, and we have an amazing 6 year old son. We're FINALLY ready and have started the process. So many reasons. Some are below: Army brat...never quite shake off the wanderlust! Sunshine, wildlife, coastline...sunshine. Better quality of life on offer (including but not only in terms of wages). Husband wants a change of direction in work...why not do it all in one go?! Incredible new adventures and opportunities for us all to experience together. Concerns over how the UK is evolving and the lack of opportunity for our son as he grows up. (Please note this is NOT a comment about immigration...it relates to crime, politics, wages, housing market, narrow mindedness etc). Feeling overcrowded. New cultures and places to explore. Dad was suddenly taken very ill this summer and it gave us the kick up the bum people talk about. Can't wait to get the visa and finally make the move!
  23. This is what I thought (a bit naughty of them surely?!). I'm not massively worried but it just made me wonder...waited a long time to get to this point so it did give me a bit of a scare initially!
