  1. I used Go Matilda for my 189...they were fantastic!
  2. That's great...thanks very much rammygirl. Just to be clear, it doesn't matter if I'm living in the UK currently, as long as my PR is still valid (which it is until 2021)? I'm just a bit confused because the terms in the booklet class Permanent Resident as someone who "usually resides in Australia". Thanks.x
  3. Hi guys, Bit of a complicated one...or at least it feels that way. ? I was granted a skilled migration visa and moved to Australia in 2016 with my ex husband and son. Our marriage broke down very quickly (3 months after arriving) and myself and my son returned to England to be worth family (my ex remained there). I have since entered into another relationship and have a newborn baby. Myself and my current partner would like to go back out to Australia with my son and our new baby, and are looking into applying for a partner visa but I don't know if we can do this if we're both living in the UK? The only examples I can find of this being acceptable are where the sponsor is Australian born. Any advice would be extremely welcome! Thanks in advance, Lou.?
  4. Hi! Unfortunately, the first thing you'll need to do is top up to a degree. Australia doesn't take nurses without their degree any more. Wishing you all the best with it.x
  5. The best!!! Feel a bit shell-shocked at the moment though! :biglaugh: x
  6. So...I just wanted to update and let you know we had our 189 visas granted this morning!! YAY!!!! We lodged on 29th April and our medicals were uploaded on 10th June. We hit a small delay due to the new financial year but nothing major and it's all officially done and dusted now!! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's helped and given advice over the last 9 months or so! Hopefully those of you waiting will get yours through quickly now too. Now to find a job....x
  7. Oh my god really??? Some people seem to be getting theirs through literally within days so there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it does there? I wonder if it's because your son's 19 so that complicates things a bit? (Absolute guess work...no idea if that's the case!) Keeping fingers crossed they get a move on now! xx
  8. Hi! So...everything's done and we're waiting for our visa to be (hopefully) granted! Our medicals were uploaded on 11th June and we had an email from our agent last week (Via DIBP) saying they're not processing any more in this financial year as they've come close to the top end of the numbers, so they'll start processing again from 1st July. I can't seem to get ANY idea about possible time lengths - does anyone have any ideas whether we're likely to be waiting weeks/months from this point? I'm a mental health nurse. Thanks! Lou x
  9. Hi. Sorry yes...a 189. Our agent advised the 2-3 months was usually from lodging (which we did at the end of April). I guess we just have to wait (and hope it's really soon!) Thanks.x
  10. Hi! So...everything's submitted, medicals are finalised, DIBP are aware of a job offer I have (which is conditional on me being able to start on 1st August). I have one question... Does anyone know roughly what sort of timescales we're looking at for finalisation of the visa please? Thanks! Xx
  11. As long as you were working as a qualified nurse prior to your top up degree they'll count that as experience. ☺
  12. FFS. I didn't know about the NMC thing either!! I'd be really good if they'd let you know stuff like this! thanks for the heads up Kyliedonut...looks like the NMC will be getting yet more cash out of me! Let us know how you get on if you hear back!x
  13. Yay!!! Congratulations...and thanks for updating us! xx
  14. Oh my god...nightmare! :err: ok...I'll do another fit2work check in a few weeks to prevent that then. Thanks! Hope you get it sorted.xx
  15. Yeah I considered that...and then remembered the complete lack of response I had last time I tried lol. If you do could you let us know how you get on please? In fact...I'll do it too...hopefully one of us will be lucky. x
  16. I (stupidly) thought it would be! I don't know why but I expected to go in with my ID, and have it sorted within 24 hours lol. Really frustrating because I just don't think I'm going to get it all sorted in time which will mean I'll lose the job offer. What's the nurses Facebook page please? x
  17. Hi...has anyone registered with AHPRA on arrival in Australia recently who would be able to offer some advice? Thanks, Lou. X
  18. Hi! I've been advised by HR department in Brisbane that AHPRA are currently taking 2 weeks to process 'in principle ' registrations. Does that sound right to people who have done it? I'm on a tight timeline and that could mean the difference between managing to do it and not. Also, am I right in thinking that you would have been advised in the 'in principle' letter if there were supervision requirements? Thanks so much (again!) xx
  19. Thanks guys. So you were granted your visa's just under 3 weeks after your medicals samjwilli? That's good to know. I'm working on the basis that, assuming all is OK with the medicals, if we can get our grant by the end of June we have a month before we need to leave so we can hand our notice in, book flights etc. It's going to be tight!x
  20. Can't get time off to go any earlier. I guess it's only a week away now hey...
  21. They're asking HR to put it together so should have that by Friday. Ideally we want to all go together. Long story but I've been away for over 3 months out of the last 9 supporting sick relatives so I don't really want to be separated from my husband and son again. I'm mainly worried about booking flights etc...Obviously don't want to book them yet incase visa's don't come through in time, but don't want to leave it too late for them all to be full/ridiculously expensive. Right...lists it is!:cute: Thanks!x
  22. Thanks. Yeah I asked our agent and she advised me to forward a letter confirming the job offer which they can upload onto the application. She said she didn't know if it would make any difference to the processing speed. I just wondered if anyone can say how long theirs took to be granted after medicals...wish I'd have booked them last month like I was going to but the agent advised to wait. I guess they just want to play it safe which is understandable.x
  23. Hoping someone can help clear my stressed, shell-shocked mind please?? I've been offered a job in Brisbane (yay!). They want me to start at the end of July/beginning of August. We lodged on 29/04/16. Everything's done apart from medicals which are booked for 04/06/16. My question is how long is the visa likely to take from the point the results are through? Obviously we have to give a month notice on our house, book flights etc...can't get my head around how/when to do all of that? Thanks in advance!x
