  1. Thanks Pommie. We're underway with the process now so hopefully we'll be granted by July(ish). If we've submitted our EOI before they change the list (assuming it did happen) where would we stand in terms of our application?
  2. Thanks mgreaves. I'm submitting everything as and when our migration agent requests it...I'll drop him an email and check if I can do the AHPRA stuff now rather than waiting.
  3. We're underway but still at the very early stage of the process. I'm awaiting IELTS results tomorrow. After that we have to submit information to ANMAC and AHPRA and get the skills assessment approved before submitting EOI. I'm hoping we will have applied for/had visa approved by July but I guess it depends on how long ANMAC take to come back to us. I just wondered if anybody else had heard about this, or if it's just an attempt to drum up business? Thanks.
  4. Hi! I've just had an odd email from The Emigration Group (attached at the bottom of this). I signed up to their email list ages ago but have since instructed Go Matilda and started our visa application process. I suspect it's a marketing ploy and I've Googled and can't see anything to back up what they're saying, but they've given me a bit of a scare and I wondered what you guys think. Any advice? Thanks! Lou.x (I'm a mental health nurse by the way!) "We are writing to advise that the Australian Department of Immigration is reviewing selected occupations on the “Skilled Occupations List” (SOL) to determine if they should be removed from the list in July 2016. Your “Nominated Occupation” is one which is under review and if it is removed from the “SOL” it could affect your eligibility or visa options. We wanted to bring this to your attention now, as there is still time to make an application."

Hi, I sat the academic test last Saturday. Obviously the tests are somewhat different (although I think the listening and speaking are the same) so I can't advise specifically on the general test. To be honest my only real advice would be to practise. I used the Cambridge textbook and I was glad I got it as I found it gave me a good insight into the format of the questions and expected answers. I get my results next Friday so I'll refrain from giving too much advice until I know how well I did! Lots of really helpful people on here though so I'm sure you'll get what you need.x
  6. All done and back home. I felt good about the listening, OK about the reading, good about the writing, and OK/good about the speaking! I think I probably did best in listening but I'll find out on 23rd. For now it's time to relax and get ready for a lovely meal with my equally lovely husband. :cute: Thanks for the tips Loulou and Srg73!x
  7. Exactly the same situation here. Qualified with a Dip HE in Mental Health Nursing, and topped up with a Bsc (Hons) Health and Professional Practice. I asked our migration agent (Go Matilda) and they said we shouldn't have a problem with registration...hoping they're right!x
  8. That's great. Thanks so much for that Loulou. I didn't realise I can do the general test and get extra points if needed. That's taken a lot of pressure off! Will let you know how I get on. x
  9. Hiya! So, as the subject says, I have my IELTS exam tomorrow. I've tried to prepare as much as I can but I thought I'd check whether anybody has any last minute tips which might help. I need a 7 for AHPRA but would like 8 to give me the extra points for the visa. Thanks in advance! Lou.x
  10. We're applying for a 189 visa. I think the changes are only for 489 and 190 visas so we should be OK...Although I did have a little panic when I saw the post yesterday! Thanks for the heads up though. x
  11. I really hope so. It's been far from smooth up to this point. over ten years to get to this stage with various issues, so I'm hoping this is finally our time. Enjoying the ride at the moment and looking forward to our new adventure.x
  12. :biglaugh: yup...very old joke between me and a friend in Brisvegas.x
  13. Ooh fingers crossed for you M1cha3la!! Whereabouts are you heading to?x
  14. We wanted to sell up anyway. Long story involving incredibly bad timing with the housing market. We've been researching for a long time, I have friends in Brisbane, I'm a qualified mental health nurse and our visa looks to be fairly straightforward...but either way the house sale is a good thing! x
  15. Heading to Brisbane MARYROSE02 x
  16. Not really that interesting to most people but just needed to tell someone... WE ACCEPTED AN OFFER ON OUR HOUSE TODAY!!!!  We're SO excited...migration agent on board, house sale going through, qualification transcripts being sent, IELTS on Saturday. It finally feels like we're on our way to achieving our dreams! Anyway...That's all...Lou.x
  17. We've just started using them too...FAB so far! x
  18. Thanks both! We decided to go with Go Matilda after reading so many positive reviews on here and other places. So far (very early days) we think they're amazing - really efficient and friendly!x
  19. Hi everyone! After over ten years of research and dreams we have finally just instructed a migration agent to start the process of applying for a skilled migration visa. I'm a mental health nurse and planning to move to Brisbane with my husband and our 6 year old son. I've spent years reading posts on this forum and I'm really looking forward to getting involved, getting to know people, learning, and hopefully helping others out at some point too. So....hi! Lou.x
