  1. Have you had an invitation to apply or are you waiting? 65 points would get you an invitation quicker. I would recommend just doing it yourself, your agent doesn't sound the best.
  2. Didn't happen for me but absolutely could happen and they have the right to, if you're not claiming points though I imagine it would be less likely. Have you been asked for Form 80? If not, only provide it when requested.
  3. Have the EOI invitations changed to monthly now? They were fortnightly previously.
  4. Yeah - Given he'll have done a 15 hour flight from Vancouver we really didn't want to add another flight unless absolutely necessary.
  5. Yes, end of October apparently. They charge $150 a night which is a disgrace. We're going to drive down from Brisbane to pick ours up, luckily just in time before the facility closes otherwise he'd have needed another flight from Melbourne or a very long drive.
  6. Nothing is impossible and you may well find it easier in person but I wouldn't go with an expectation of getting something sorted in a couple of weeks. Why not try contacting recruiters or going to a job fair, some employers will interview via Skype etc.
  7. That's very wise, even if it's missed this time these things can catch up with you should you wish to do a PR application in future.
  8. I don't think they did for mine (neither did ACS), but you should expect they might and most certainly can.
  9. I don't have anything on my grant letter saying I as primary applicant have to land first or at the same time, which section is it sometimes in?
  10. I might have missed something on my grant but I wasn't aware any such condition existed as long as you all land within the time allotted?
  11. Nothing is impossible but getting sponsorship arranged when not on the ground is a real challenge. Worth a try though.
  12. Congratulations dreamboy! Enjoy the moment.
  13. Only proof for employment you're claiming as skilled is required, so for example if you worked in a non-related job for a year you would not need to evidence it unless specifially asked. I put my references, a current payslip and the skills assessment and that was enough.
  14. Can someone expand on this? You can bridge for that length of time, leave the country etc?
  15. Bank account, in case anyone hasn't mentioned it.
  16. How long has it been since your clinic submitted the results? From what I read the majority are auto-approved, some are referred then approved shortly afterwards and some require certain additional tests. If it's been a while you'll likely be in the first category, I had exactly the same message.
  17. Can be useful for points though if you're borderline or want your EOI picked up quickly. 8s (has to be all categories) gets you a nice 20 points.
  18. Ah, so $7040 AUD in total - http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/Pricing-Estimator.aspx
  19. I would recommend doing it yourself, as long as you follow the clear guidelines and requirements for documents there’s really no reason you can’t complete it. Take your time with uploading documents as there's no way to delete something you've uploaded. Visa is about $5250 for the two of you, skills assessment $500 to $700, medical $300 x2 ish and some for notarizing documents. Probably $7k all in.
  20. Could you get work in your chosen profession? It's an open visa for 6 months for each employer. There's also an opportunity to move onto a 457 if you can find such an opportunity, albeit it's not always easy.
  21. Your OH is correct, it's the first point you touch down in Oz where you pass through immigration so in your case Darwin and no Brisbane. Domestic flying is extremely easy in Australia.
  22. Have you tried calling the team? I've read of cases of getting grants quickly when people do this.
  23. Of course it's possible! Be positive and you can do it. First do your own logistics, e.g. your flights to confirm when you'll arrive which will help with dates for everything else. Then contact removal and pet mover companies (there are lists of both available online) for quotes. Negotiate and choose one you're happy with, there are masses of companies that do this. Wait for your remortgage to go through (I assume this gives you permission to let?), then get the tenancy arranged to start on x date.
  24. A WHV would give you carte blanche to work for someone for 6 months, in any state, and seek that sponsorship, probably initially onto a 457. It's certainly not impossible but don't expect it to be easy (I moved from a WHV to 457, it can be done). At your age perhaps you could see it as an opportunity to travel first and foremost? There's always NZ where you can get 2 years on a WHV too.
