  1. Correct - was there a resolution to that one?
  2. Those are documents that are NOT acceptable for a passport application. If they were I wouldn't be asking the question. The question is related to both the citizenship certificate and passport application itself. The certificate I'll try with VEVO or my visa grant and we'll see what happens.
  3. I know. Which also needs proof of permanent residency.
  4. Same here, an agent wouldn't have added any value to our application. If your circumstances are straightforward I recommend doing it alone.
  5. As per the DIPB website the following are not acceptable - http://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Form/Immi-FAQs/born-after-1986-one-parent-resident Which invites the question of what is acceptable?!
  6. Yes I know, the certificate of citizenship requires one parent's proof of PR.
  7. Hi Guys, We moved here as PRs in September and had a child in January, just got her UK passport and now looking at her Aussie one which is proving trickier - Can anyone help with proof of permanent residency? Apparently visa labels are no longer available and none of the items here are acceptable - http://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Form/Immi-FAQs/born-after-1986-one-parent-resident I’m confused, why can’t the passport office just check VEVO? What is acceptable? Anyone have any experience of this?
  8. Which isn't ideal either if you're back near the end of the tax year and on PAYE, quick call to HMRC usually sorts it.
  9. Absolutely. Is 11 months to activate really that different to 12 for most people? It means the CO has the full set of information (pending any more they may require, e.g. form 80) when they're first looking at your application.
  10. What are your motivating factors for wanting to move? What are your expectations of Australia?
  11. It won't; it was just out of interest as I was previously on a WHV (before moving onto a 457) and tax resident. The difference for me then would have been substantial (well over $10000) as I was working IT contracts. Still a proposal or confirmed? Either way this is sad to see.
  12. I also recommend doing them first, we arranged ours (the actual examination was after applying but we had the HAP IDs before) and the police checks and ended up with a direct grant. If you're waiting for the CO to ask you you're likely to be adding time.
  13. It may be that the 457 applicant is of a higher quality or has skills not available locally, but they won't wait forever. Business needs are often immediate, as are opportunities.
  14. Quite, this scenario does legitimately happen and often the employer will just go with a local worker instead if an opportunity isn't taken quickly. Not every business can wait 3 months.
  15. Then initially a working holiday visa may be an option for those first 6 months (you'd need to switch visa or company after this point). Ideally they'd just apply for your 457.
  16. I'm not surprised, however if it's a simple application (e.g. no major health issues or criminal records) then by taking time, checking details and submitting documents as requested from the clear list there's no reason you can't do it yourself and save some money. And if you have questions there's plenty of online resources and support, such as here, to help.
  17. Would you be based in the UK or Australia? Are you under 31 or have you been to Australia before?
  18. I'm not sure whether this in an option you're considering but I would highly recommend skipping the agent and just doing it yourself. The instructions and requirements are generally clear throughout the process.
  19. Sounds like if things work out they'll sponsor you for a 457 visa, which ties you to that employer and can run for up to four years at a time.
  20. I don't remember seeing a request on any of the forms for a TFN (I was on a WHV previously too) but there is a note that all debts to the ATO should be repaid. Whether this happens in practice or not I'm not sure. Either way given the TFN is for life you'll need to sort out that return, it's possible that you may have been owed a refund, particularly if you were based in the same are for the majority of your stay.
  21. Because the new year starts on July 1st there's usually a bit of a backlog to clear, are you in a rush to get the grant?
  22. Nice work, did you check what the cut-off was for your occupation for the last invite round?
  23. You'll likely get one at some point but the higher point scorers get picked first. Have you done IELTS?
