  5. Hi Kell Can you get a PR visa? From our experience a much better option than a 457 especially with 3 kids!!!!
  6. I've never witnessed any racism in the 4 years Ive been in Brisbane but maybe I live a very sheltered life. If kids were been bullied due to their race Im sure the school would come down on it like a ton of bricks

  8. Is that right. Can a 10 year old have a criminal record??
  9. Thanks for your replies. No big dramas then getting a bank account.
  10. Hi all My sister in law is moving to the UK in April to start work and needs to open a UK current account. Was just wondering how easy this is to do if you have never lived there, have no credit history (or even an address at the minute!) Thanks in advance
  11. All PR visas are expensive Im afraid....
  12. A slight variation on this..... If you're old enough to cash in your super in Australia as a lump sum and then subsequently retire to the UK, would you still pay tax on the lump sum in the UK? Would this be an asset or income? All very confusing......head beginning to hurt
  13. Thanks very much that was really helpful. They are moving to the west midlands so they may have some support for non English speaking migrants there
  14. Thanks for your reponse folks One thing I forgot to mention was the kid has minimal english at this stage. I was wondering if anyone had brought over kids in similar circumstances and what were their experiences? Id imagine it may be a struggle for him for a few months
  15. Hi I have a relative moving to the UK with their son who is 4 in April. My understanding is that the child should start school in September, however my relative has been told by several schools that he will not be able to start in September as they didnt register him by the end of January? Odd. Is there any reasoning behind this or does it sound like a fob off?? Many thanks in advance
  16. I really like Morgans in Scarborough. Sorry... dont know any in the CBD...
  17. Once granted you will both have your own visas independent of each other so you could come on your own with no issues
  18. Hi. On a 190 you can work in any occupation you like. All the docs you need are the ones you mentioned as far as I am aware
  19. Exactly. Your visa is granted and thats it finished. You dont need to do anything else except enjoy planning for the next stage of your new life.
  20. From you have posted havent done anything wrong. There was a change of circumstances and before you could update any details your visa was granted. Chill and congratulations by the way! Good luck
  21. Good luck with the move. We've been living in Brisbane for 4 years and love it. Im sure you will feel the same
  22. I used fragomen in Brisbane who got me the visa so I cant complain but in retrospect were a tad expensive compared to other agents. My sister in law used Migration Angels based on the Gold Coast who were well priced and gave an excellent service. Good luck
  23. But this wouldnt change by moving your pension here. You still pay fees here. Cant you move your pension to one with lower fees? Im in a similar position. I have some of my pension in the UK and some in OZ so Im at the mercy of both exchange rates and the stock exchange. Doesn't worry me toouch to be honest
  24. We used WestPac when we migrated who were fine, but switched to CUA as part of our offset mortgage, who are also fine
  25. As others have you will get more for your money using a currency broker than using the bank. Moneycorp is one but there are others so shop around for the best deal. I personally have used Moneycorp and HiFx both of which have been great
