  1. Hi,I received my 189 visa grant around 2 years ago and recently I decided to start a doctorate programme in Australia. A few days ago, I was checking some past address information from my 1221 form, and came across my answer for the question "Do you intend to do a course of study in Australia?" and I had checked "No" for this for some reason (I guess I wasnt intending to when I applied). Is my answer in form 1221 going to be an issue preventing my from starting my PhD programme? Would it get me into trouble with immigration? From what I know, the 189 visa does give study rights as well, right?
  2. Thanks for your reassuring reply DT55. Do you think its a good idea to now submit the 1022 form to update my address and new job? Or is it not required?
  3. Hi guys, I have a question about submitting the "changes in circumstances" form. My situation is like this: I applied for the 189 while I was unemployed in Sept 2015. I then received a job offer and was supposed to join on 1st Jan in another city than where I was living (but same country I was living). But suddenly the company asked me to join earlier on the 28th of Dec and I did. I received my 189 visa grant on 30th Dec. I never imagined it would be so quick! I'm scared about the fact that I didn't submit my change of circumstances form within those 2 days that I moved and joined the company. Will there be any consequences for this? Should I submit the form now? In all honesty, I was planning to submit it once I had a new address, but it took me till late Jan to find an apartment, and I technically still had my old address lease till mid-Feb. It was also a new city and I didn't really have much computer facilities access to submit the form. I can submit it now, but would there be any questions as to why I didn't do it before? Or should I not submit it? Any suggestions?
  4. Hi guys, I'm facing a problem answering question 40 on Form 80: "Have you ever been refused a visa to any country?" I just simply don't remember! About 6 years ago, during my university studies, I registered for a student competition in Canada. What I remember for certain is that I didn't go, and that another friend of mine went to represent our team because he didn't need a visa. So, I think I tried to get the visa, but I cannot remember whether it was refused or not. Also, I remember the travel itinerary going through China, so I would need a transit visa. I seem to recall standing in line at the Chinese consulate. But again, I cannot remember at all whether I even applied for the transit visa or was just asking for information, let alone what happened to my application. At that time, the only thing that was important was that our team was represented, and I really didn't care whether it was me or someone else. So I guess I must have forgotten it because it was not important to me (my memory works a bit weird). I've searched everywhere (emails, my old files, etc) and I don't have a single piece of documentation for the incident. It was one very hectic week of my life 6 years ago! I'm thinking of just answering "yes" to be on the safe side, and saying I might have been rejected a visa from Canada and China - could you please check because I don't remember lol. What should I answer?
  5. Thanks for the reply CaptainC. No, it doesn't appear there. I guess I would have to add it with the add documents button which the other comments mentioned.
  6. Thanks a lot RMT1980 for the detailed reply. Its quite clear now. Am relieved - was concerned that something badly wrong had happened to my eoi/application. Hope your application gets through quickly without any problems. All the best!
  7. Aha...I didnt know that was for any additional documents not included in their recommended list. Thanks ozee!!
  8. Thanks for your reply Maggie. I thought these recommended documents list is generated from application/EOI. So would you recommend just leaving those recommended documents places empty? How do I include documents for spouse skills assessment for points that I AM claiming but which they haven't given as a recommended document? There doesn't seem to be any place to give them.
  9. Hi guys, I submitted my application and paid a few days ago, and logged into immiaccount now to continue with the next step. Now I see a bizarre set of "required documents" which I haven't even claimed points for. It asks for employment details and study in Australia when I am claiming points for neither in my EOI. And it doesn't ask for spouse skills assessment, while I am claiming points for that! Anyone has any idea what's going on??
  10. Unfortunately, the online visa application form has a "Day" field that needs to be filled out for that. Just need to figure out what to do about that. Thanks for your replies & reassurance :-)
  11. Thanks for your answer Bungo. I hope it doesn't matter that there would be this discrepancy between the EOI and the application. I don't have the offer letter any longer, so I don't know the exact date - it was 6 years ago! I can probably guess at the month. I could try and ask the university registrar office, but I don't know if they would still have a copy of my offer letter/enrollment. Would a wrong start date be a problem?? I don't know how closely these applications are scrutinized.
  12. Hi everyone, I have a question about the visa application and educational qualifications, and I'm really hoping someone can help: I submitted my EOI about two months ago, and received my invitation yesterday as primary applicant. I have a Bachelors and a Masters in engineering and my spouse has a Bachelors and Masters in engineering and is currently doing her PhD. I am claiming points from my spouse too. We have both had our Bachelors degrees assessed by Engineers Australia, with a positive outcome, so we have points from that. The problem is, when I read about the points system, I saw that you don't get points for a Masters degree. So, my spouse and I didn't get send our Masters degrees for the Engineers Australia assessment - I considered it mostly irrelevant because I can't claim points from it. I also didn't include our Masters degrees in the EOI when they asked about educational background. First, I thought it was irrelevant, because I interpreted the EOI as just a declaration regarding the number of points you have, and since I am not claiming points from my or my partner's Master's degree, it shouldn't be included. Second, I didn't have the exact date which I started my Master's degree (I've misplaced the offer letter), so I left it out. Third, in the EOI I didn't understand clearly whether they meant all qualifications or only recognized ones? Last night, when I was filling out the visa application, I noticed that they asked about all educational qualifications - not just the recognized ones. I don't know what to do now and I haven't sent it yet. Should I include the Masters degrees? And what should I do about not knowing the exact date I started my Masters? If I do that, my application would be different from my EOI - I don't want that to be a problem. If I don't add the Masters, I don't know whether there would be questions as to what we were doing that whole time (2.5 years). And if it comes out that we have Masters degrees, why we didn't declare them. I hope it doesn't reflect badly - if anything, it should actually look like I am UNDERclaiming points, not overclaiming :-S Any advice???
