I can imagine there might be problems moving in with relatives. In my case, my sister and I have always been very close and we're looking forward to spending lots of time together before I depart for Aus. And if it all gets a bit too much, she has a second house at the coast and I can decamp to there if need be. Nowhere near Merseyside. Haha.

As for any existing medical condition, I think what they want to know is that the condition is well controlled. Think diabetes, thyroid disorders etc. Most people at this stage in life have some sort of medical history. If that's you, take along all the info you have on your medical condition, drug dosage etc.

I don't think they're looking for A1 status. Knee replacement is fairly standard stuff and I'm sure they would take that into account when asking you to do certain things. And as you say, by the time your medical comes around, you'll be absolutely fine.

I complete on my house next Thursday. I'm moving in with my sister temporarily as I'll be at the 33 months stage on 1st July. Still no request for my second vac but I'm hoping it'll happen in July. Then again, pigs might fly. Can you move in with family if necessary, Gafuk?

Height, weight, blood pressure, urine test, blood test for HIV, chest x-ray, eye test, discussion of any conditions and current medications revealed by answers to prior questions, examine for skin cancers and signs of drug misuse, touch toes, squat - nothing too terrible.

I think they prefer emails as opposed to phone calls. Subject line needs to be name of applicant, date of birth, and reference number.

I think they no longer update it weekly. On 17th May they were still processing to 3rd Oct 2014, on 26th May they changed to 13th October, and I don't think they've updated since then. I can't get a response to my test email today, which suggests no update available yet. Maybe next two weeks will show an update?

The 143 visa currently has a processing time of 34 months. If you look here, you can see the processing times for all visas. http://www.border.gov.au/about/access-accountability/service-standards/global-visa-citizenship-processing-times You will not hear anything from Immigration until they are ready to move to the next stage, which I'm afraid is a long way off. Take a look at my timeline below to get an idea. Also, you can send an email as suggested by Bilby47 above, but do put Test as the subject line. You will get an automated response telling the date of applications received that they are currently processing. -
It is supposed to be in strict date order. Delay in sending documents would hold up the grant of a visa, but I know that mine were all supplied without delay, so for me personally it can't be receipt of documents causing delay. But I'm still not up to the quoted 34 months yet and so I wouldn't expect my visa for another 2 months or so. I wonder if the people who got their visa put their date of acknowledgement instead of their date of lodgement - a few people have in the past queried whether the processing time is from lodgement or acknowledgement.

I can't see the timelines on that site, probably because I'm not a member. But I did scroll down to the spreadsheet. Hopefully, mine will be soon, but I've just passed the 32-month stage, so I'm not expecting to get the visa until late July/early August.

I can't put the link on here as external links are not allowed but Seven Seas do Movecubes in three sizes - small, medium and large. There is an excellent thread on this forum about it too, I'll try to find it for you. You need to be happy with doing your own packing, form filling etc. The cube is dropped off at your door, you pack it, they collect it and ship it but can also store it in the UK until you are ready for them to ship.

1.87m high by 96cm x 114 cm. That's for a small one. I measured and taped it out on a rug to get an idea.

£542 + $498 to be paid in Australia for clearance etc. This is door to door and includes starter pack of boxes, tape, marker pens etc.

After all the kerfuffle with my passport renewal: 1. Last Friday my online photos were rejected, so I needed to do it the old fashioned way. 2. Got passport photos taken in Timpsons Saturday morning 3. Local Post Office said they don't deal with passports 4. The next Post Office said my photos were a millimetre "out" and might be rejected, but I took a chance anyway because I believed it would take 3 weeks to process. 5. Online info said it takes 3 weeks to get the passport back. 6. Received a text from Passport Office saying I would receive the passport by 21st June (cutting it fine as I move out on 22nd June). 7. Passport arrived today! That was another week of unnecessary stressing that I could have done without, but hey! I got my new passport! Woohoo. And finally, I've booked a small Movecube for the 21st June. So that's another step further along the way.

You also have to factor in that whatever you do decide to ship, it won't arrive for quite some time. And if you need stuff in the meantime, you will end up begging, borrowing or buying anyway. It all depends on your circumstances really. And yes, I'm looking forward to the shopping - I've been saving every penny I can for nearly 3 years, so I am really going to enjoy spending it.

Thanks for that, i'll check. The only reason I want to take it is because I researched carefully before I bought it and I'm so used to it that it's quick and easy to do what I need to. But like you say, they're cheap enough to replace. More ebaying on the cards, haha.

I got a quote for a medium movecube but I think it would be too big, so I'm looking at a small one now. I'll get a quote for that today. But PSS do tea chest sized boxes, and if I don't take the sideboard etc, it might be cheaper to go with PSS. I'm still weighing it all up.

Completely agree. No point taking my large fridge/freezer, which wouldn't have been big enough to do the job in a hot climate where so much needs to go into the fridge. Anyway, it went on ebay last summer and I've been making do with my smaller one, which I'll leave behind for my house buyers. I'm taking very little with me and reckon to save thousands on shipping costs. Added to that saving is the stuff I've sold already. My total of ebay and private sales plus the stuff currently on sale or still to be sold, comes to about £5,000. I've also had my daughter in Aus pricing up a lot of the stuff I will need and I'm confident I can get it all at really good prices. But each to their own, people are sometimes attached to particular belongings, whereas furniture etc diesn't generally have any pull for me and I'm looking forward to a completely fresh start. If I can fit it all into a Movecube, I will take a small but rather nice sideboard and two matching lamp tables, bedding, towels, pots and pans etc, printer and coffee maker, clothes, photographs. That's it, and anything that won't fit will stay behind. I'm opting for the granny annexe, as my daughter's plot has plenty of room for an annexe and it's a short walk from shops, restaurants etc, and 5 minutes drive from the beach.
