  1. We arrived about 4 hours ago, and in all the excitement I actually forgot about the insurance for the trip! I sold my car the day before I left the UK, which was cutting it fine to say the least. It's now 2.30am and I'm still awake. Good luck everybody still waiting, I'll be keeping an eye out and fingers crossed for you all.
  2. Travelsupermarket has turned up a long list for me, thank you for that. But it turns out that I may be covered by the credit card that I used to pay for the flight, I'll check that first.
  3. This site has a private messaging system that people can use if necessary, so there is no need to clutter up this thread.
  4. That's what I thought too, but when you put the dates in they still want to know a return date! Either that or when you put in your date of birth you find out they don't cater for anyone over a certain age, one of them only went back to 1962 - and one of them said "we only cater for active people going on adventures" or words to that effect, implying that at my age I'm far too old to be adventurous! I'm going to try calling gowalkabout on Monday though as they're not open on weekends.
  5. I've been looking through the forums but can't find one for insurance, specifically for the emigration flight. I've tried comparison sites but they all want a return date and of course I don't have a return date. Any pointers please?
  6. It took a further 4 months after the AoS acceptance before I was asked for the 2nd vac!
  7. What I would do is to email DIBP, putting your name plus date of birth plus ref no. in the title, and attach a copy and of the Citizenship Cert, and cross your fingers. It won't do any harm, but it may help. To be honest, if you fit all the other criteria for a contrib parent, this shouldn't make a difference, but on the principle that anything positive may help!? It definitely won't hurt! That's my take on it!
  8. The exact same happened in my situation when my daughter and family all became citizens but my agent said it wasn't necessary to inform DIBP. However, if I had been handling the application personally, I think I would have informed them anyway.
  9. My initial arrival must be by 1st February 2018 to "validate" my visa. After that, I can come and go as I please up until 28September 2022, which is the last date of arrival. So it would seem to be that you are given a few months to enter Australia and validate, and 5 years in total to actually move. @Alan Collett probably has a more definitive answer though.
  10. Yes, you do get the HAP ID with the invitation to provide documents. I used the online system to fill in answers to questions, which means that the medical examiner has all the info immediately to hand. You will have to sign a form at the examination as well and produce ID too. The medical examiner uploaded my results direct to DIBP very very quickly.
  11. I'd be inclined to wait a bit longer. The Police report is only valid for 12 months and DIBP would ask you to do another one if the first was out of date. It only takes a few days to get one, so it wouldn't really save you any time to get it in advance anyway. My own only took about 4 days.
  12. @gafuk, tell your daughter when she hands over everything at Centrelink to make sure that the Centerlink Officer witnesses the form properly, i.e. your daughter should sign it in the presence of the officer, and the officer then signs it also. Centrelink uploads everything onto their system and eventually, some weeks later, your daughter will be asked to attend an interview at which she will be told exactly what her obligations as assurer are etc. Then some weeks after that she will be told whether or not she is accepted as an assurer. It's about 9 to 12 weeks or so but may vary from one office to another.
  13. Excellent link, rahulshankar. @gafuk, send that link to your daughter.
  14. I think my daughter downloaded the form from the Centrelink website, filled it all in, gathered up all the documents she needed, and then went into Centrelink. They won't talk to you on the phone, they will only post the form to you to fill in. So it's quicker to download the form. And aim get to the office before a queue builds up. I'll ask my daughter to confirm but I think this is what she did.
  15. I think the next step would be for the case officer to ask for more details if necessary. It might cause a bit of delay, depending on the nature of the problem and the investigations/treatment needed. You will sign a form at the medical that gives the examiner permission to contact your GP if necessary. And if you have any condition currently under treatment or investigation, make sure that you take with you to the medical any letters, reports etc that you have on the condition. And try not to worry about it too much - most of us parents are at an age when it would be really unusual and surprising if we didn't have some sort of medical problem. A lot of conditions, though, are so commonplace and easily treatable that they will not really have a bearing on the visa decision.
  16. Great news! Exciting times ahead for you. Good luck with everything.
  17. You can update your pomsinoz signature too! Not long for you now. ???
  18. Did your email have your name, date of birth and reference number in the subject title? If not, then you will only get the automated response. And remember that not all applications take the same length of time.
