  1. It depends what type of tools they are; if they're gardening tools, they have to be cleaned to within an inch of their life. Absolutely no soil, grass, garden insects or seeds - I think I've read something in the past about steam cleaning? I'm not sure what WD40 would do to kill any pests or eggs.
  2. Not much movement since the last update, but there were holidays in between which could explain it. Fingers crossed that you all get a bigger jump in processing with the next update.
  3. Hope everything goes well for you. Was great seeing you in Brisbane.
  4. Yes, I had exactly the same problem. My agent then emailed me the letter in pdf format so that I could print it that way, instead of via the link. Have you an agent? If not, maybe try a different computer/laptop.
  5. My Movecube arrived this morning. A great service that I would recommend for anyone who is only looking to move a small amount of stuff, rather than a houseload/container. Everything arrived, nothing missing.
  6. I downloaded the form P85 and sent it, but HMRC replied (by post) " ... I confirm that your pensions from ... ... and ... remain liable to Uk tax. As a British National, you are entitled to your tax free personal allowance which I have allocated to your pensions. Because of this, I cannot work out if you have paid too much tax until after the end of the tax year on 5 April 2018. as a UK resident both your UK and non-UK income will be chargeable to UK tax". However, they informed DWP that I had left the UK and DWP immediately stopped my British State Pension. I had to ring DWP and get it reinstated. Work that one out! I believe you need to get an Australian Tax Reference and then download an Australian form which is then sent to the UK tax office to confirm your status as Australian resident for tax purposes.
  7. Centrelink will probably want the new version. Can she download, print and complete it before going to Centrelink?
  8. I know you've been asked for further docs, though your signature dates don't mention it - but did they ask for Police clearance and medicals as well?
  9. From memory: Height, weight, blood pressure, urine, pulse, blood test for HIV, chest x-ray, vision test, discussion of any conditions and current medications revealed by answers to prior questions, examine for skin cancers and signs of drug misuse; touch toes, squat, memory test.
  10. The following wording is copied from the email asking me to make the payment. (My daughter got a bank cheque from her own bank in Australia. If you get an international bank cheque, they say it takes 28 days to clear! ) I have no idea what a BCC file or an OSF file is but I did not receive a tax invoice, so the options were just bank cheque or credit card. A bank cheque appears to mean the same as a banker's draft. Personal cheques are not accepted. PAYMENT OPTIONS - If your file is a BCC file you will receive a Tax Invoice. If your file is an OSF file you will not receive a Tax Invoice. TAX Invoice If a tax invoice is attached the payment options are listed in the invoice. Payment may also be made directly to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection by credit card or bank cheque. If we have not provide you with a TAX Invoice Payment must be made directly to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection by bank cheque or credit card: Payment by Credit Card If paying by credit card to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, send the completed credit card form to the Parent Visa Centre. Please contact your bank to arrange the release of the amount of the 2nd visa application charge and credit card surcharge, otherwise the payment may be declined. For details regarding surcharge fees please go to: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees Payment by Bank Cheque Bank cheques should be made payable to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and sent by registered post to the following address: Parent Visa Centre Contributory Parent Section Locked Bag 7 NORTHBRIDGE WA 6865 AUSTRALIA Please note that we do not accept personal cheques. IMPORTANT · The file reference number must be included with the payment · Payment by international bank cheque will delay the visa grant for a period of 28 days afterpayment has been receipted to allow the cheque to clear.
  11. My Seniors Discount Card (with Gocard on the reverse) arrived in the post this morning! I already have my Woolworths card, and a Coles/Flybuys card is on its way to me also. Woohoo. Imagine getting excited about discount cards.
  12. That would mean that your case was picked up way before others who applied earlier. That's why I wondered about the actual application date.
  13. I wonder what the APPLICATION DATE on this one is? The ACKNOWLEDGEMENT date is stated to be 22nd April 2015, so the application date could have been much earlier, e.g. Jan/Feb? @Mrs Depp - can you give the timeline please?
  14. Similar things happened to other forum members a year or so ago. On one occasion, the AoS form had not been witnessed properly at Centrelink and on another occasion Centrelink staff had not uploaded the information to the system. So, yes, you need to check, check, and check again. But it's still generally a very very slow process.
  15. Really sorry to hear this. I have no knowledge of withdrawal of the main applicant but I do know somebody who withdrew the secondary applicant without a problem. They filled in a form, the second applicant had to sign consent to withdraw, the process continued and the visa was granted to the main applicant. I can't see why it should be any different for your parents in law, especially as Immigration have told you this, but I'm not an expert and for peace of mind maybe you should consult a registered migration agent. You, your partner, and your parents in law are going to have a lot to contend with in this very sad situation, and some reassurance from an expert might take one worry off your shoulders. All the best to you.
  16. I had something similar when my bank blocked access to my account for 72 hours because they saw my transfer attempt as "suspicious" activity - no phone call to me, nothing, just a complete block on my account - despite having my Aus phone number and being aware that I was here, and it wasn't even a new payee, just a transfer. After numerous phone calls from me to them and going through dozens of security hoops, they finally unblocked it. I found out later that their only attempt to verify the activity consisted of a letter sent to my UK address! I don't know how anyone can prevent something like this happening to them, because I took all the proper precautions before leaving the UK, and I'm sure you would have done so too, Fisher1.
  17. No charges with Moneycorp though. As I've said before, you need to strike up a good relationship with your currency dealers and then get the very best rate you can from them.
  18. I just did a comparison of Moneycorp versus Transferwise, using a figure of £20,000. Moneycorp came out a few dollars ahead, so there's not much in it really, but on larger amounts the difference would widen. I've found very little difference generally between the dealers I've used and therefore I tend to just go with the one I have most confidence in.
