  1. I'm headed for Victoria Point, a little way southeast of Brisbane. And the waiting is enough to drive you mad. I feel that my life has been on hold for well over 2 years now, during which time I've watched happily as the exchange rate climbed to dizzying heights during 2015 and the early part of 2016, and then sadly plunged lower and lower since just before the Brexit vote. And I had expected to be in Australia by April 2015. As you say, all very frustrating, but clerk85 has just posted that the processing date has moved on a few days to 11th August, so we all need to stay as positive as we can. We will get there ...eventually.
  2. Like. (We have lost the Like button, so I'm resorting to a manual like, haha). Yes, it would be great if there really were so few 2014-ers left, but I think it's just a case of forumites not realising they can add their timeline by way of a signature. So if anybody on here hasn't added their timeline yet or not sure how to do it, give a shout and one of us will be happy to help. It really does help us all to keep track of progress at Immigration.:smile:
  3. There probably are some in those months but some forumites don't put their timelines on their signatures.
  4. At last! Thank you ckerk85. I see from your timeline that you're only 10 days behind me, it's nice to have somebody with a similar timeline to track progress.
  5. If you don't get a response to your test email, it means there is no change in the date since your last response from them. It's currently 30th July 2014, whuch it has been stuck on for the last 4 weeks or so. By my very rough calculations, the current processing time for a 143 is about 30 to 31 months, but that is almost bound to lengthen, so yes, about 3 years is realistic.
  6. Yes, it is very depressing. And meanwhile, they are still saying that processing is in excess of 24 months, while it's actually closer to 29/30 months.
  7. Unfortunately, no progress again this week - I think that's about 4 weeks running? OFFSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 143/173) When your application is allocated to an assessing officer, you or your authorised contact may be asked to provide more documents, including but not limited to, Assurance of Support (subclass 143 only), police certificates and health clearances to finalise your application. We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 30 July 2014.
  8. Absolutely agree with you, Sadge. It would be so easy to make just a small slip and then things go very wrong. I too made the point about the cost of an agent being small compared to the total cost of the whole exercise. But applicants do need to make absolutely certain they choose a MARA registered agent.
  9. Daryl, an agent is by far the easiest way to go. There are so many things to get wrong if you try to do it yourself. And the cost of an agent is a small extra, compared to all the other costs you will have to pay in order to get your visa. I would say, unless you are somebody who can deal easily with all the admin/bureaucracy involved and are able to correctly interpret and digest all the information put out by the Immigration Dept and published on the border control website, you should get an agent. An agent can also give you correct answers to any queries that pop up along the way. But, if you do go via an agent, MAKE SUREthey are Mara registered. Good luck.
  10. If the date hasn't been changed since you last had a response, then you won't get another one. Try again Thurs/Fri, it might have changed by then. It's only worth trying once a week because they generally only seem to change the date once a week, though very very occasionally it's been twice in one week.
  11. well, I couldn't resist sending yet another test email - and yes, this time it's showing 16th July. So Geordie Joe, you should be asked for the usual docs any time now? Waiting with bated breath.
  12. i just got another response, but this time saying :We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 07 July 2014. I wonder which is correct?
  13. Yes but one day is better than many of the preceding weeks when we saw no movement at all. And of course the jump from 30th June to 4th July didn't include a weekend. So I'm hoping Immi are finally starting to move again. Fingers crossed!
  14. Reply from Immi: "We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 07 July 2014" Woohoo!
  15. We're all in the same boat. I lodged October 2014 and, like you, my agent was able to give me a "forecast" of 18 months based on how long applications AT THAT TIME were taking to be processed. There has been a big hold-up this year with average processing now taking 29 months, due we are told to the huge number of applications received by the Immigration Dept during May and June 2014 (just before a rise in the visa charge), which they are only just finishing processing now (they are currently up to 30th June 2014). And applications are taken in date of lodgement. So, anybody who lodged during May/June 2014, and after, are suffering badly from this delay. Hopefully, if what we are being told is true about May and June applications, now that Immigration are nearly at the end of June 2014 applications, processing should start to speed up again. We can only hope, but I'm not holding my breath, because there are also occasional strikes which I'm sure add to the delay. Realistically, I think we are looking more at close to 3 years.
  16. no, nothing. But they seem to update only once a week, on a Thursday or Friday. And once you've had a response with a new date, you won't get another unless the date has moved on. I think that's how it works.
  17. AoS is $10,000 for one applicant, but $14,000 for two. So if it's just his mum, then $10,000.
  18. I'm with you there, but having had hopes dashed so often in the past I'm determined not to expect any big change in the date so that I won't be disappointed again (well, not too much!). As a bit of a sideline, my daughter has been trying to get through to Immi about the dates for her, her husband and daughter, to take their citizenship tests - they were all given different dates(!) - but has had no luck getting an answer on the phone number they were given. So it looks like it's not just CPV applicants who have troubles with Immi.
  19. Automated response to Test email shows no movement in the date this week. "We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 25 June 2014. Please note that due to a very high number of 173 and 143 applications received in June 2014, the assessment date is expected to change at a much slower pace than usual. We appreciate your patience and your understanding."
  20. One day forward in a week. Today's response to the Test email: "We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 25 June 2014. Please note that due to a very high number of 173 and 143 applications received in June 2014, the assessment date is expected to change at a much slower pace than usual. We appreciate your patience and your understanding."
