  1. What industry are you looking to work in? If you are a seeking a job in Oz then I would imagine it to b very useful to show your employer that you have had your qualification equivilated[h=3][/h]
  2. What is your occupation ID under the ANSCO?? If you are 2613 Software and Applications Programmers, They have capped the amount of invites they are making. There are only 800 odd invites available for that occupation. Take a look at http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ and see you occupation ceiling on the "reports" section. Next invitation rounds are 13th and 27th of January 2014
  3. If anyone has any ideas on this, I too would be happy to hear them. I am also applying for the 189 with de facto partner. I am able to show joint savings accounts and mortgage statements though dating back 4 years. I wanted to know if we would still need to have these 'witness statements' from common friends??? Sorry to butt in on your thread - thought i'd bump it back up to the top
  4. I personally found the 1 hour enough time and I really did write a lot. Just be careful not to digress or stray from the question. Native speakers do tend to float around the question. You need to be as concise as possible with your answer and honestly, the word limit they give you, is enough for a high score. I struggled in practice papers as I was using my essay skills picked up from doing my History degree. I read the marking criteria thoroughly and realised that you really can keep the word limit down if you just stick to the point at hand at all times. Pencils and a rubber was provided for me on my test date.
  5. Congratulations. Really happy for you. I hope you and your family have a prosperous new year
  6. CO will be appointed up to a 10 week period. Bear in mind the New Year holiday would delay things a few days
  7. Just submitted our EOI today 06/01...still hoping for the 13th !!
  8. As Ben said...13th and 27th. I went to see if my assessment had arrived at my school, but no-one in the office. Hoping it is there by next Friday so I can join you and hope for a 13th invite???
  9. Yes DIAC do accept General for the 20 points and the reading part of this test is easier than the academic
  10. I have not plunged into that yet. I think once the invitation is received I will feel a bit more confident looking forward. I know that in VIC the schools like using the local state recruiting agencies but will probably go the full hog and apply on mass. This should be okay for recruiting agencies as you really can only supply them with a generic CV. For us, it's about getting a job, then look for something more permanent and be more picky later (if needed). I will certainly update you if I get any further info from people that know
  11. I teach Business Studies and ICT ( 5 years teaching), currently. My degree is in History so am hoping I can be offering 3 x subjects. I am aware that secondary schools in Oz advertise teaching posts for two subjects and yet neither of the ones I offer seem to go together - I am hoping I can get a clearer idea via a recruiting agency nearer the time. In regards to states, we are looking either at SA (pull of existing family there) OR VIC. The latter choice is simply ue to us loving the state and Melbourne. Victoria also have ICT teachers listed on their SOL, which I am hoping indicates a need for ICT teachers there. Either way, I too am not picky and want to be as flexible as possible and would consider NSW or WA. I am currently a HoD in my school but realise I will need to do a few years in OZ before i can move u the ranks again. This process has just been a bit complicated for us as we currently teaching in Koh Samui, Thailand - it means paperwork takes a very long time to reach us or be sent urrgh!! I can not believe how patient this process requires you to e
  12. Wow, that is an interesting problem. I always assumed PGCE's in secondary education covered 11-16 (KS3 and KS4). The only definitive answer that you can get is straight from the horses mouth. They are back in the office on 6th January, allow them 10 working days to reply but you should get your answer. They are clear i the parameters they desire. However, they should take into consideration that your subject PGCE still covers different key stages of the child's learning. Just to note, I am also a Business Studies teacher (A-Level and GCSE) - Good luck with it all and keep us posted on the feedback you get from AITSL
  13. I am also hoping for an invite in one of the Jan invitation rounds. I'll only have 70 points, but fingers crossed, the AITSL assessment is positive AND arrives in the next few days. Keep me posted with your progress, we really are in the same boat. Can I ask what subject you teach? What state are you looking to emigrate to?
  14. Congratulations, I knew yours wouldn't be soon after ours. Good luck with your EOI
  15. Have you checked the aitsl online tracking site? You had your assessment in before I did. Mine was updated to *assessment complete" on 23rd Dec.
  16. What state are you referring to? Look at link below for Victoria SS http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/visas-and-immigrating/skilled-visas/skilled-nominated-visa-subclass-190#Obligations QUOTE: [h=2]Your nomination obligations[/h][h=3]Notification of visa grant and arrival[/h]You must email us with notification of DIBP’s decision on your visa application. You must also notify us by email when you arrive in Victoria, if applicable. [h=3]Live and work in Victoria for two years[/h]You, and any nominated dependants, must live in Victoria for the first two years of your visa. This two year period begins when you enter Australia permanently on the Skilled Nominated (190) visa, or if you are already onshore, when the visa is granted by DIBP.
  17. The state that has offered you sponsorship would require you to live and work in their state for a period of 2 years. Many will send out survey periodically and send you other correspondence in email to ensure you are still there. If you read the different states website on sponsorships, you will see they make this quite clear. 2 Years obligation. I don't think thee is any 'small print'
  18. As above...DIAC accept either the general or academic. The general is seen by many as being easier for the reading part of the test.
  19. Hi wrussell, Can you provide me with any information regarding the PCC from Thailand? It seems that I would need to have fingerprints taken at a local office and then send off my passport/work permit etc to Bangkok? Is this correct? Thanks for any help you may have
  20. Hi Guys, I have another query for you all. I have not yet placed an EOI as I am waiting for AITSL's assessment letter. However, am anticipating this to be positive and I am keen to find out how to complete the next steps. I am a UK citizen but have been teaching/living in Thailand for the last 18 months. If/When I am asked for a PCC, in which country will they ask for this, or both? If it is Thailand, has anyone on here had to go through the process of obtaining a PCC in Thailand? Thanks for all your help thus far people....
  21. Also, just to clarify - VIC will want the EOI Ref No., but only after they have given approval for the sponsorship. This process is 12 weeks and I realise most of the people on here never really waited this long for their 189 Visa invitation...
  22. Rupert, Thank you for your response. The reason behind the sponsorship was due to the speed of which visa applications are dealt with by DIAC. Having read this forum, thoroughly, I have been very surprised at the turnaround from EOI submission and the visa invitation. I like that people have placed this in their 'signature' - as I have now done. I am now pondering as to whether the state sponsorship would indeed be useful at all. Perhaps, If I find I have not had an invitation after a few months I may go down that process. Thank you
  23. Hi all, I have been viewing this forum for quite a while now and realised I should probably join and seek some advice from people whi have been through the migration process. I do have a couple of questions that I would love some answers to...if possible. . I have completed my IELTS and am just currently waiting for AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) assessment. This seems a rather long wait (10 weeks) for a certificate considering the PGCSE and BA Hons IS enough for teaching in Australia...but, oh well!! First question - I am also looking to gain Victoria state sponsorship - seeing as they need Secondary School teachers in ICT. Their state website asks that I apply to them FIRST, before putting in my EOI??? This i found odd as every single other state wishes you to supply the EOI Ref No. Thus, after you have submitted your EOI? Is this correct? and more importantly, can I put in the EOI anyway and then apply?? Second question - This leads on from above - Can i later add a state sponsored visa later on in my EOI. For example, I only tick 189 visa and after VIC give me a decision i then ADD the 190 visa and select Victoria? Third question - Regarding AITSL - I have paid for my assessment to be sent via tracked mail. Will they send me an email with the tracking number? Anyone else used this service for outside Australia? If you got this far, then THANK YOU for reading all of this and I appreciate any help. Thanks Guys...
