  1. Agreed! The above occurred in greater Manchester. And I've heard endless accounts of the subject raised by the OP over here too. Sad times :'(
  2. And glassing could really be avoided by replacing all glass with bottles. I know a guy who lost his fiancé on his birthday (26th dec) after a young lad who was refused entry to a pub threw an empty bottle into the pub with no thought. The bottle bounced of a wall, broke and killed her as it stuck in her neck and she bled to death. There was no malice here either, just bad timing but no glass = no glassing :banghead:
  3. Hi there, this is just the kind of post i was looking for! When the time eventually comes I shudder to think what my OH will do for work??? Right now he is the breadwinner while I'm at Uni, but if all goes according to plan our roles will be completely reversed. He is an HGV driver so it will take a while (changing license over and resitting tests) and a 'right time right place' kinda thing for him to secure work driving so I wondered if warehouse work (forklift) might be an option but can't see much about. I might have to exploit him and market him as a gigolo
  4. Couple of snaps from... Paraburdoo WA Melbourne VIC On the road in Victoria and Echuca VIC And not to forget... Some great pics on here already, you guys put me to shame xx
  5. Glad you found quest lol x I'm off on Mondays anyway so WDU will be my treat before my 3 days in uni x I can't believe how much I want to go back to uni though and I have another 3 weeks off :'( Sounds crazy after 14yrs of working (sometimes shifts) over xmas and new year but I'm so bored... ... I'm watching a 2008 WDU But its the one with a single mum who wants to rent so happy days
  6. That's great news x Keep us posted on your 189 x
  7. Sooooo..... Australia's toughest police is on Quest+1 in a tick x Sky+ set up for WDU now too xx
  8. I remember that one!!!!! Grrrrrrrr
  9. Would be nice if they had rental properties on there, I'm sure they're all for sale?? But maybe I'm the only person who wants to move to Oz who doesn't have my own home with a huge amount of equity and nobody else actually rents as soon as they arrive :what:
  10. What Channel? Sounds very BBC (might be on catch up lol) x
  11. Booze Patrol too? Was this thread designed to weed out all the British-Aussie TV show addicts  xx
  12. Hi Diana Have you found that doing the medicals in advance has given you any peace of mind (one less thing to take care of kinda thing)? My EOI is a LONG way off, let alone Visa App BUT I read a couple of days ago that you can do you medicals in advance, although I haven't checked it out 100% yet xx
  13. I would just like to agree with everything already said. I will add that I record all the episodes (delete NZ of course) and keep all the VIC ones to play back to OH in a few years when the wheels are in motion. Ah well, must get back to Nothing to Declare followed by Outback Truckers (OH is an HGV driver) x
  14. Oh dear! Don't worry, it's not just you. I have a love/hate relationship with WDU and have done for somewhere in the region of 9 years. When exactly is it starting again?
  15. Oh dear this has got me thinking... I'm in my 1st year now (thank god it's an NHS funded course) and my Student Loan is 2300 a year. I think for me, after reading all your comments, it may be best for me to look at it as a bank loan once I'm qualified. So that would be a £6900 loan over 36 months (I need to work for 2 yrs before putting in my EOI and can't imagine the whole process will be complete in less than than 12 months!). So around £191 a month (whilst saving to emigrate lol) sounds like it could be a clever(ish) move. It's that or hold my breath until they find me ha!! This has certainly planted a seed!!
  16. Oh I remember the days of 2.3 while I was backpacking, happy days Only 9.5yrs ago!!!
  17. Hi there, As far as I know you dont need AHPRA for the purpose of applying for your visa. There's no harm in getting registered though as you will need to do this to work, your registration will be valid for no longer than 12 months but that fits in well with your plans You might want to add your age, work experience, education etc to get some more valuable visa advice, or give a breakdown of your points? For sponsored they sometimes specify a minimum number of years experience but not sure if that's so for nursing (it is for podiatry), so you might want to look into that. Some real experts will be along soon enough with some help xx best of luck xx
  18. Thanks, I will probably do that then as sounds like it would be a waste of time and money to do it prematurely x
  19. Can I just jump on Beka's thread here and ask..... ...If you register with AHPRA but you don't present within 12 months is it simple to re register with the same details or do you need to start from Square 1? I am asking as I am hoping to get my skills assessed long before completing my EOI (during the period in which you do not need to provide CPD, Refs and proof of good standing due to being a recent graduate) So if I did this but did not plan to move to Australia for a year or 2 it seems like it might be a waste of time for the Skills people to forward docs to AHPRA, unless I can somehow keep my registration on life support for a while Sorry, I'm trying to establish the exact order I will need to complete, apply and do everything xx
  20. Hi Betsy, I'm only in my first year of Podiatry and I'm already where you're at in anticipation lol x I'm sure some people reading that will envisage a young nieve dreamer, but hey ho, whatever helps them sleep at night. First exam tomorrow and second in 2 days, you must let us know how your Resume went down chick xx
