  1. Isn't Tower Hamlets the most politically corrupt place in the UK?
  2. Thats what I expected just wanted to check before I shell out for it.
  3. My post "I dont know your personal finances but it may just save time and money to take the hit and pay for him a new passport now. If he is living in the UK he is going to need one anyway." Hardly a million miles from what I posted.
  4. I never claimed they would be deported just that its pretty much essential that most people will need a passport at some point.
  5. And realistically who wants that life for a young child? Your splitting hairs.
  6. I think theres no sure fire way to know. My home town Barrow in Furness always seems to make its way pretty high up the list. Despite it being a fairly safe place to live. Although it is infested with dole dossing track suit wearing narrow minded work shy nob heads.
  7. Ok thanks for that Ive found a provider in Liverpool (NSW to avoid confusion ) from that site that charges $100 which seem reasonable enough. I have never worked in construction before but am trying to get in jobs that would require me to go on site. A person who has worked in dangerous places and had a lot of exposure to health and safety regs and has a bit of common sense shouldn't have any issues in completing the course right?
  8. I think he is talking about the $ being week at the moment. 4 years ago when i first backpacked around australia i felt the country was as expensive as say Norway. Today having lived here many everyday items seem cheaper than back home. Obviously with your income being tied to the $ it gives a false representation of living costs compared to someone who's income was in £s.
  9. I couldn't tell you, I've only been to three states myself and its never worried me an awful lot.
  10. I wasn't saying you were breaking the law. Anyway I wouldn't get your hopes up too much I cant see any change in policy on this issue.
  11. I guess the government feel the tax payer shouldn't be left footing the bill when people get ill for what could be an easily prevented illness. If your not even in Australia and you feel your basic rights are going to be impacted perhaps its not the right move for you?
  12. He is a British Citizen if he has had a passport, but that doesn't mean he has entered the country legally if he enters on an Aussie passport which will have a stamp in it saying when he should leave. I dont know your personal finances but it may just save time and money to take the hit and pay for him a new passport now. If he is living in the UK he is going to need one anyway.
  13. Has anyone got any recommendations on where to get a white card? I have searched the internet but some of the websites look a bit sketchy. Is it as easy as just doing it online or is there more to it? Im in NSW if that makes much of a difference.
  14. If he had a British passport he already has British citizenship. Its not an easy process to go about getting rid of it. If your in a rush perhaps the easiest solution is to go back on Oz one get a new UK one whilst in the UK and potentially leave the country on a cheap flight a few months down the line to make it all legit. But I'm not an expert on these matters by any means.
  15. Yes I understand that I just wanted the expected times and numbers of all subsequent visa up to citizenship.
  16. So i'm here in Aus already and trying to find out what future visas I need to apply for. I feel quite bad that I don't know already. The reason I ask is theres plenty of jobs where you need to be at least PR. I'm still on my 300 and were getting married in October, if shes lucky
  17. I did a 7 month summer tour in Afghanistan and was taking a lot of weight gain supplements which are packed with vitamins and didn't get bitten at all. I then went straight on leave and did 6 weeks backpacking in south east Asia and again didn't get bitten. I thought I was one of those lucky people who they don't like. Since then I have been to Asia a lot more and they bloody love me. So for me this theory whilst might not have any scientific backing makes a lot of sense to me.
  18. sorry but that's not true at all. I already have my NSW licence but didn't need it for 3 years at least. It also has no annotation as to manual or auto as we discussed earlier in the thread everyone on a full licence can drive both.
  19. The Labour party spent too much time flinging **** and labelling the tories the nasty party. If they spent half as much energy on trying to show people why they should vote for them they might get somewhere.
  20. Thanks that clears that up. That is properly wrong though in my opinion, you should have to pass in a manual to drive one.
  21. My mrs passed (apparently....) in NSW in an auto and she has no A and nothing different to mine.
  22. but how is that annotated on your licence?
  23. The big question is how do you deem these people guilty without them being judged by a jury of their peers? Its a slippy slope to start finding people guilty in their absence like that. Of course if they step on a land mine on the way back to Turkey it would be very advantageous.
  24. It does seem that way, which is a scary thought as my Mrs isn't fit out in an auto never mind a manual.
  25. Is there a difference in NSW between auto and manual? I converted from full UK (manual) but theres no mention on mine about being entitled to drive manuals. My fiance who is aussie born and passed in NSW in an auto also has no mention of auto or manual on hers.
