I have a fairly large amount of Lego at my parents I would like to ship over for my son what’s going to be the most cost efficient way to do this. I know it’s a bit open ended but I don’t actually know how much there is until I get there in a few weeks. My guess would be 10kg.

What’s the rush? You’re not going anywhere on an Aussie passport. -

I noticed that my local council Fairfield, Sydney are holding in person citizenship ceremonies again. Just thought I would share as I had only heard of them happening in Perth. -

Yes as far as I know if you mentioned the city you will have to wait until they’re up and running. I imagine Para are running at a lower capacity so they won’t want to take on work from another centre. -

Interesting I had my test in Para canceled two working days before it was booked. You would imagine I would be at the front of the line but haven’t heard anything yet. -

Nobody can say for certain but I don’t think it’s very likely. I submitted in June 2019, had my test booked for April 2020, that was cancelled because of Covid and they haven’t started tests again in NSW since, meaning there’s quite a backlog. -

I wouldn’t sign a change.org petition but is it unsafe to do the tests and interviews? With the exception of Melbourne/Vic pretty much everyone is at work. I’ve never stopped, kids are in schools, crowds are at the footy, I can go to the pub etc etc Yet it’s unsafe to go and have an interview which would be socially distanced anyway I imagine? -

I submitted in June 2019 has my test booked for the start of April and had it cancelled 2 working days before. I was hoping they would start soon as WA had but it looks as far away as ever with this current up tick. -
Sorry citizenship was booked in at Paramatta end of March start of April. I can’t actually remember now as the weeks are mergining in to one.
-
With the government moving to get the country going again has there been any word on tests being restarted? Mine was cancelled with two days notice so I’m hoping to be near the top of the list when they do.

They’ve no option as it’s impossible for them to ensure people aren’t cheating doing a test remotely and you would still need an interview for the to sight your documents as genuine anyway. -

I’m not disputing that at all. But if you’re testing more the numbers are more accurate. The original claim was that the numbers were around the same given the differences in population, that doesn’t appear to be the case. The more testing you do reduces the speed of infection that’s the entire point. Once someone is confirmed people around them are given notice locked down and the spread is slowed. That’s why Korea has a huge number of cases but very little deaths. Testing is as important as social distancing if not more so.
-
Again it’s just a simple way of looking at it but ScoMo is claiming Australia is testing to a much higher number per capita than the uk and an insane number higher than the US and the stats seem to back it up, if you look at South Korea where they are known to test test test this is reflected also The first recorded case in Australia was on the 25th jan and the uk the 31st, both from abroad rather than domestically spread.
-
You’re looking at the stats in a far too simple way. If you look at the death rate to confirmed cases the UK is at over 5% whilst Australia is at 0.3%. That suggests the UK is massively under testing and that Australia’s figures whilst probably not accurate are much more so than the UKs.
-
I don’t think you understand how healthcare works. Drs take their oaths pretty seriously and even if ScoMo decided this would take place Drs would not enforce it.
-
If they’re on a 12 month visa and they’ve only used 4 weeks I would be checking where they stand with the reciprocal medical agreement. If that is ongoing I don’t see any good reason why they need to wave. Yes the foreign office has said return but that’s a blanket statement and it’s not like we’re living in Sierra Leone with militias attacking hospitals. If my parents wanted to stay, the visa was good and they were covered medically there’s not a chance I would be making them go home, reading between the lines I think it’s going to get very nasty in the UK very soon.
