  1. Agree something like removalists I don't think cheapest is best you need to make a decision based on everything not just the price.
  2. Commuting from Butler to the CBD takes about an hour minimum door to door approx depending on where you live in Butler etc. That includes driving to the train station. The trains in the morning run approx every 8-10 mins which in my view isn't frequent enough and that is around 7.30am too so I guess it depends on what time you start work. They are always busy in the morning but if you get on at Clarkson (end of the line) you can probably get a seat. Butler is full of poms and child friendly so if thats what your after you'll probably like it.
  3. Holidays are very different from the reality of living here including the cost of living, living in Oz isn't like being on holiday 24/7 we have to work bloody hard and its not a dream for all. Good luck and just enjoy the holiday!
  4. I've used Pickfords and Crown I wouldn't recommend Crown as they were quick to remove everything but didn't take much care and actually broke one of our double beds after they thought it was a good idea to drop the base of the ensemble off the balcony onto the truck, obviously didn't end up that way! Mind you that was from Sydney they were good in Perth, more careful. I have used Pickfords 4 times and never had a complaint they packed the goods into the truck carefully and even double wrapped some of my fragiles for me. All arrived on time and in one piece, slightly more than the others but worth the money I think.
  5. Water Corp do flush the pipes every now and then and this can create brown/tinged water and bubbles because of air in the lines - it does clear after the water has run for awhile. Just give them a call and they can confirm for you.
  6. Exactly what I mean, people referring to Jaws! That is a hollywood movie as are all stupid shark movies making them out to be monsters who seek out humans, that is not the case and anyone educated knows that. I can understand people being worried but you enter the ocean knowing there are loads of things that can kill you, are we going to start culling box jellyfish and blue ring octopus next it will never end..
  7. Yes they use electronic systems over east along with nets which I am no fan of because other animals get stuck in them, but all for the sonar ones but again this is a WA is 10 yrs behind everyone else thing!
  8. Sometimes people begin to miss the things they used to hate! Its very strange..
  9. Any of them provide storage, assuming you don't need access to it until you arrive.
  10. There are other cities to work in than London at least over there, if you come to Aus everyone has to commute to the one city! I don't understand these comments but each to their own of course it my not suit everyone. Personally I found that for my job the pay is not much different in London to the countryside of say Suffolk and I know where I would rather live, not in a smelly busy city as they all are!
  11. Yes he is, you enter the water at your own risk its the sharks home not yours, they are just acting on instinct they don't know your a human and when they do they normally spit people out. Hence most people die from the injuries not because the shark ate them completely.
  12. How does that theory apply to the whole of my local area and everyone that serves me in a shop now seems to be english! It should be more about the right person for the company not necessarily where they are from as anyone can be trained, people from different areas can bring different ideas and ways of working which can benefit companies.
  13. Sounds like your all planned for the move, I'm also going over next year in March can't wait! Good luck to you both and happy arrival of the bub
  14. I'd continue with getting citizenship with whichever visa would be more expensive to do again, that way if you do ever decide to get the other visa you hopefully won't be forking out so much! Your other half is right their are a fair few bogans depending on where you live of course..
  15. I didn't need an article to tell me that but thanks anyway I'm well aware of all the poms in my area.
  16. And it is harder to do than people think! I've spoken to heaps of poms who say that is the one thing they struggled with the most, making decent friends! People just seem to be too wrapped up in their own lives.
  17. Unfortunately once you have lived in both countries everyone gets that "when you want to be there you here etc" feeling and it never goes away! You just have to learn to accept that each place is different and has its good and bad points, don't think Aus hasn't changed cause I can guarantee it has. Just think very carefully about everything and never say never!
  18. Its best to use the sea mail which goes late September being that has passed may be best now to buy online in the UK and have it delivered otherwise it may not make it in time. FYI, Sea Mail is about half the price of Air Mail.
  19. Customs don't always get it right I can tell you that for sure! They took stuff out of our boxes that was not restricted items
  20. You'll have to learn to adjust and commit to this "new life" you obviously were looking for. The two countries are different and cities as such, you will never stop missing London its the expat curse I'm afraid.
  21. Loads more Brits in Aus and Perth especially then there ever used to be and immigration has apparently got tighter, don't think I believe that. I've got no issue with it, just wish all people who came here (Brit or otherwise) learnt the road rules (you don't indicate right and then left to exit in the left lane of a roundabout if you are going straight ahead!)
  22. I don't blame her being married to that control freak! I don't think it will damage her as much as his image has been by his OWN behaviour, shes taken the high road (pardon the pun) the whole way with this, he dragged it into the courts to get revenge!
  23. If you can afford to keep it then I would, the market is rising over there and you never know what will happen in the future.
  24. You'll never know whats best its just what is right for you at the time and your health is the most important as without that you are no good to anyone.
