  1. Lovely 4x2 in LAKELANDS, really nice quiet part. Large grassed back garden with covered alfresco area. Master bedroom has a large modern ensuite with corner spa bath. Theater room or study, built in robes in all rooms. Air con and gas bayonets. Carpets in all bedrooms and living room. Pets allowed. Call Kat or Sam
  2. Well if I did take them, I wonder how they will hold up in the container? Might it not be too hot in there? Perhaps rendering them"off" or reducing their effectiveness? I remember when we moved to Oz when I was younger and our tv and candles etc had melted...
  3. Hi all, Starting the long arduous process of packing and realised we have quite a few full bottles of Calpol and similar things.. Will bring one bottle in the packed luggage of course but can the rest be brought in the container? What has everybody else done? Seems a waste to get rid of it.. suppose it could be donated to friends...
  4. Thanks everybody. Obviously our friends were talking out of their a***s when recommending these places. We are currently living in a ski resort in Austria so we do not want to go to another isolated seasonal tourism dependent town. Oh thinking of taking on a fencing franchise (Jims) any thoughts on that? Bunbury looks nice, we also thought ofMidlands or Darlington? we would like a nice big back yard, lots of parks, near other families, don't need to be near the city, and we don't mind driving to places, usually have to drive 30 min here just to do basic food shopping..
  5. Hi all, just had some Aussie friends recommend these places to us but what is it like there for families. we have two young boys. What can you do with kids(apart from beach etc) I mean like is there Gymboree classes, sports for kids, library story times??
  6. Because we were thinking of going to France for two weeks beginning of may, coming home to Austria for a week then leaving for oz. so that could complicate things with getting the health check,de worming thing. Perhaps we could send her over to the uk when we leave France and get your premium service where you guys do all that??
  7. Thanks Bob, If we did fly her out to the uk ,first can you arrange the flight from Germany to the uk or would we get German Pet air to do that?
  8. Hi there, I just noticed that my vet( we are in Austria and they don't deal much with this) did the rabies vaccination and the blood test on the same day and then put down the date of the test on the results page. AS in she had vaccinations for rabies done on03/10/11 and 31/8/12 and 2/7/13 and then he has written results seen on the 2/7/13 is this going to be a problem? should we go back and change it? we want to fly out end of May, hoping to book flights next week and then book the pet shipping with a German Pet Air. Any input appreciated..
  9. To moving to Tasmania: yes it was from the embassy in Austria ( unfortunately) we were very surprised as we had seen people's stats on here and thought it must be really quick applying from Austria since not many people do it from here. But then we had a email for our CO telling us to stop emailing and that the processing time was 9-12 months and not to contact her until February 2014( this was in November 2013) so we were just about to email her today and there it was, the LONG awaited email. NOw the planning starts..
  10. From the CO it had her name on it and said those magic words in the title "Visa granted"
  11. My partner just got his 309/100 granted however we applied from Austria. Sent everything in end of September, did medicals in November. Visa 100 granted last Friday!! We were going to email the CO today to see what was going on and there it was. So stoked Perth here we come..
  12. My OH has lived in Austria for 11 years and has UK passport but only needed police clearance from Austria.
  13. Hi! Has anybody brought a box trailer with them? We are getting a container and was just going to stick it in that. It's only used for storage and wouldn't be on the road? Is it going to be a hassle or worth it?
  14. Thanks, Snifter and Mobo, did you send the citizenship by descent/passport stuff through australia or can you do that in England? As in when we first sent my 119 (evidence of citizenship ) of we sent it to Vienna(Austria) then they kept it for a few weeks and sent everything back saying things had changed and it needed to go to Canberra, so off it went again. Now I have seen on the Diac website that that office has moved again and it all goes to Parramatta now. it went to Canberra in the beginning of the month and the money was just taken out on the 26th, I have emailed the OCE and got back a reply that they are swamped and processsing times have significantly been delayed(instead of 7-10 days) We are just getting worried that it will be a similar story with getting the kids citizenship/passports done. Processing time for that is 2-3 weeks too right? But who knows how long with delays???
  15. Hello all again, I'm still waiting for my citizenship papers (could be another couple of weeks) then we need to send off the kids application for citizenship by descent then it would be the 309 going off for my partner but that could be ages(months ) away with how long these 118 and 119s will take. So once we have my citizenship papers could we send of the kids 118 and my partners 309 at the same time and at least they can start processing his and then we supply the evidence of the kids citizenship when that comes through.. Anybody done anything similar? Would it just be treated as "extra evidence required"? Cheers
  16. Hi everybody, We will be lodging a 309 from Austria within a month, how long for a Co to be assigned and when do they let you know when to do medicals, police checks etc?? We wanted to be travelling around in Sweden and the Uk after we have lodged the application. Do they contact you by email? Could we do the Medicals in the Uk perhaps. Anybody been through something similar? CHEERS
  17. Sorry, didn't mean to post and run..Its been hectic over here in the mountains. Great replies everybody, thanks. Currently in the process of deciding what to do, we have a few trips to make and we are going to put the dogs in a kennel for a week to see how they do there, might give us a clear indication of how the quarantine will go!! Re their bite risk, it depends on the other dog they are meeting, if it comes up calmly it's ok but if it comes up with attitude they start right up too work in progress... Can anybody recommend a suburb with bigger blocks? Maybe not acreage but still room for a pool, outdoor eating area and a large yard for the kids to play in.
  18. Thanks for all the input guys! I totally understand where you all are coming from as I would have said the same thing two years ago( before kids) The thing was that before kids it was possible to deal with two high need dogs who require constant care and training but now it feels like I'm being pulled in 4 directions and nothing is good enough in any of them. Like I said before, they are all ready to come with us and part of the Australian dream is that they too would get to experience a lovely big backyard with a pool, doggy beaches and of the lead dog parks( currently live in apartment,in the mountains,so not too bad) . it was just today that I had an epiphany while really struggling to get through the day: ie" I walked the dogs and kids in their double stroller, finally came to a good forest clearing, looked around ,no other dogs, let them off the leads, what happens? The kids start fighting in the pram,as I'm pulling the older one of the baby, a really angry dog has come up a path, I have to madly scramble to catch the dogs, leave the crying kids behind in the pram, get the dogs, pull two snarling dogs away from the other crazy dog while trying to push the pram. then we take the cable car up the mountain to a outdoor restaurant so the kids can play with their friends outside, can't let the dogs off because there are other dogs there so the pug spends the next 3 hours growling( constantly) at the other dogs(who were well behaved) and the border collie is trying to hide behind and around my chair to get away from the kids which were playing close by. take cable car, dogs, kids, pram down into town, try to control dogs again as they try to attack three different dogs on the way back to the car. get to car try to wrestle in kids in car seats, fold pram and try to stop pug growling/ attacking random people in a car opposite. get home and get kids, dogs up the stairs and in, pug is looking so sad by this stage, they haven't had a proper walk run around since they've been on their leads the whole morning. kids and dogs nap. Then we need something from a friends house, can't bring dogs due to a lot of kids running around their place, to stressy for nervous border collie. an hour later drive home to pick up dogs, then go get my partner, we all go the river for 15 min to let dogs run around loose. Must pay constant attention that nothing /nobody comes up which could trigger attack,I'm also holding the baby and constantly watching that 2.5 year old doesn't run into river. Get home, feed kids ,dogs try to get everybody to sleep, take dogs out again round the block for a last pee then bed. do the same next day!! Like the previous poster said you love these dogs with all your heart, but I want something better for them, they had a much more fulfilling life before the kids:) Now I just don't have the same opportunity to constantly work with them and if its going to be the same in Perth, ie not many good off leash places or places to walk dogs and kids together(pram friendly). No decisions been made obviously its just good to hear what others would do.
  19. Sorry, I should have included all the information. Both the dogs are rescue dogs and we have put heaps of time into rehabilitating them and they are definitely a life long commitment and we've planned on taking them with us, but now that its all becoming real I wonder if its best for them really. One the border collie mix, is still afraid of strangers and HATES the car so I can only imagine what a 24 hr flight in a box would do to her, the other a pug mix,is a bit nervous around other dogs and some people and can bite in fear. I was always a "dog is for life person" but considering we will need to rent somewhere first, then spend a lot of time trying to find somewhere to buy we can't be gone all day and leave the dogs( they would bark ) and the suggestion about the beach is good but the problem is the kids. If I'm walking the dogs and kids on my own its hard to keep an eye on the dogs and making sure no kid is drowning or falling off a rock somewhere. if I had two perfectly trained and well balanced dogs it wouldn't be a problem but I always have to be keeping an eye out for something.. I just sort of feel like there's lots of people here offering them both homes so is it really selfish of us to make them endure a three long plane rides, quarantine and perhaps long days alone at home until we have sorted somewhere out to live permanently.??
  20. Hello everyone, we will be moving to PErth beginning of next year, we have two young boys, one will be 3 and a bit and the other 1. What's it like with dogs in perth and surrounding suburbs, is it dog friendly? We are currently living in a place where it's hard to find good places to walk and tire out the dogs but also somewhere where the kids can either come along and also runaround. its actually driving me a bit nuts at the moment because it feels like neither the dogs or the kids are having fun. I'm definitely not. we have a lot of people offering the dogs homes where we are so would it just be selfish to bring them? We love the dogs and we would be buying a house with a yard but is it always going to be a struggle with trying to walk dogs 3-4 times a day with two kids in a pram or should we just save everybody the hassle? thanks,
  21. Wow, thanks for the speedy reply. would it be difficult bringing them over from Austria to England? As in is there any more quarantine, extra vaccinations etc needed between these two countries? Because we may be flying from the uk anyways (saying goodbye to family there) so bringing the dogs along could work.
  22. Hi Bob, We will be moving from Austria to Perth and one of our dogs is (unfortunately) a pug mix breed so we cant go directly to Perth so we were just wondering do you have or know any pet transport companies in Austria or would going from germany perhaps be better? Any help is appreciated. Cheers, rattykatty
