  1. I've only just seen this but I would say that from the time you make your EOI and have qualifications checked (which can take 4 months), you're looking at another 6 months. Good luck with everything!
  2. Just wondered if anyone can help me with my registration for the Teacher Registration board of WA? I'm unsure about whether I need provisional registration or full. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Chall.
  3. I just checked the Etihad website and they allow 30kg which seems very generous to me.
  4. I've seen good deals with Etihad and will perhaps use them but a friend who does a ridiculous amount of flying has told me to be careful with their excess baggage charges as I'll be taking a bike with me. I still say that after 24 hours on a plane, I have usually come close to going mad but if they have touch screens and a USB charger, I'll go with the cheapest.

    Ethiad?

Having just checked Etihad's prices, I'll be using them. I usually find that whoever I fly with is ok because 24 hours on anyone's planes is enough to drive me mad!

    Ethiad?

What about Cathay Pacific or Emirates? They usually have some good deals.
  7. Little Creatures beer prices scare me!!!
  8. I went to a wedding at Araluen and it was beautiful. http://www.araluenbotanicpark.com.au/
  9. No birdsong is nice at 4 in the morning! It's always so loud in the UK mornings but the Aussie crows do make an awful noise! Gotta love the parrots though. As for AFL, that is a mystery....
  10. I reckon you should just use any words Alf Stewart uses on Home and Away! Good luck!
  11. There are some very valid points raised here but as an avid cyclist who competes and commutes, I think that the over riding point is that regardless of helmet laws, the main thing that needs to be learnt by everyone is tolerance. The Netherlands is a fantastic example of cycling eutopia but it's their attitudes that make it work. I know riding in Freo was bliss because of the wide roads and cycle lanes and much better than the UK. I see moron cyclists running red lights but then the whilst back in the UK a few weeks ago, I had some kids open a door on me and hurl abuse when all I was doing was riding along on my own. Totally unprovoked aggression. I caught them at the traffic lights and had a word though and yet they refused to get out of their car and drove off.I'm not sure a helmet would have done me much good if said door had hit me. My dad has also had the life altering brain injury mentioned by a previous poster whilst wearing a helmet and as someone else said, this debate can run and run. Perhaps if people weren't in such a constant rush to get places things would be safer for all?
  12. There's some great information here and really helpful as I have a PGCE and am off in September to WA. I fully expected that I would go in at the bottom of the payscale as I'd be in a new country. Does anyone have thoughts or info on the WA Country or Remote Teaching programs and what the initial steps are to register to teach? I know about WACOT and the Police Checks but any other information would be appreciated.
  13. Send me a PM and I'll send you a writing guide that may help. Trying to spin the question so you can show your language skills can help. It's an intense way to spend the day but best of luck and if you need my revision guide, just shout.
  14. It's where Adventure Land is. Near North Lake Road I think???
  15. Bibra Lake in Freo for a chilled day with barbies and slides and swings???
  16. Chef is on there. Try for a 190 or 489. They're pretty straight forward if you have the qualifications and experience.
  17. http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Occupationsindemand.aspx Try contacting Vetassess maybe?
  18. Try the migration issues forum too maybe????
  19. Anything on the skilled occupation list you are qualified for? http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Occupationsindemand.aspx
  20. Thanks for the info. I can't claim to have any experience but government websites still have these facts on them. Maybe I was being naive but I also spoke to a person at the remote recruitment office in WA when I did a validation trip last year and was told a few times that the pool of teachers runs dry most years. I'm not looking at this as an easy way in. I genuinely think the experience would be awesome although I would be trying for a metropolitan job at the same time. I'm just keen to get involved and see how teaching in Australia compares to the UK.
  21. This is an awesome response and what makes PIO such a great forum. The only thing I would like to add is that I found the listening the trickiest part as being a bloke, I struggle to multitask! The writing is OK, just try to spin the question to something you are knowledgeable about. I had something about environmental issues so as a keen cyclist, I wrote about sustainable transport. I am a teacher and have a writing guide that's used for GCSE students and if you or anyone else would like it emailed, drop me a PM. If you practice, the test should be fine but do expect a pretty intense 3 hours! Good luck and all the best!
  22. What snake is it? Mental pictures!
  23. Thank you very much Lebourvellec! We've got a lot to think about and I can imagine it won't be straight forward! All the best!
  24. Thank you very much for your help on this guys. Very much appreciated!
