  1. Anyone working in Brisbane at the moment ? What is the market like for application support type roles ? Not helpdesk/level 1 roles but more specialised, eg financial sector...
  2. Can def agree with the Balmain bit, lived there until January and loved it... It has a real village feel to it with some awesome pubs and really close to the city.
  3. You can hold Irish, British and Aussie here if those are the 3 countries you have nationality for. It isn't limited to 2.
  4. I live in Chiswick which is right on the water and is great for running. Plenty of one bed flats about too!
  5. How likely is a crash though ? In Sydney at least there is no sign of one in the near or distant future...
  6. Cool thanks for the link. At least it looks like it is in the final stage if they aren't requesting further info!
  7. Hi, my partner visa status has changed from "in progress" to "assessment in progress". Anyone have any idea how long it takes to be granted after this status change ? Cheers
  8. People come to Sydney and Melbourne because they have usually specialised in a certain area of IT eg: finance/trading technology, and that's where all the jobs are. If you're an entry level IT person/level 1 support then yes, you'll get work anywhere.
  9. Good to know thanks. They seem to fast track some applications more than others - I've heard of people having theirs approved in a few weeks.
  10. Hi there, is anyone able to advise the current processing time of the 2nd stage offshore (100) visa ? I have just submitted the required documents. Cheers
  11. I lived in Balmain fora year, just moved a little further west last month as you get more value for money. Balmain is a great place to live - don't let the lack of beaches put you off.
  12. I'd much rather live in Coffs than Adelaide , great little town. Also was voted as having Australia's most liveable all year round climate.
  13. Depends on what area, same as any other city We pay 550 a week for a 1 bedroom apartment but it's in a good suburb.
  14. Also keen to meet some new folks, can't do this weekend but def interested in future meets
  15. Hey guys, keen to meet some more people in and around the inner west for drinks and socialising. We live in Balmain which is a great spot, but we don't know too many people in the area yet. I'm 29 and work in the CBD and my girlfriend is 23, so in or around our age group would be great
  16. I've been in Sydney since December and haven't had any issues finding work. There seems to be LOTS of IT jobs across the whole spectrum and any of the recruiters I've spoken to (a couple of whom are friends) have said the same. Generally in Sydney if you can speak good English, are white (sad but true), have the necessary skills and are willing to learn, you won't have any issues finding work.
  17. I live in Balmain and couldn't recommend it more, great suburb!
  18. Why not get citizenship ? Would make your life a lot easier...
  19. Make sure you check this place out, great for a swim - http://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/north-coast/newcastle-area/newcastle/attractions/bogey-hole
  20. I work near circular quay and live in Balmain. It's a great area and I walk home from work every day. We have a great place with a gym/massive pool for $550 a week for a 1 bed. Loads of bars and restaurants nearby too.

    The weather

The weather in Sydney has been **** lately, everyone at home presumes it's sunny each and every day but this isn't the case. The clouds make it so humid and sticky too.
  22. Rent is usually paid weekly, depends on the area but a 1 bedroom place is in and around 450-550 dollars a week - depending on area.
